A race for time

Comments (1) La la la, Musings & Personal

This week was one of the most challenging weeks work-wise for me
Every day was like a race against time
I’d wake up thinking of all the tasks to do and places to be and try not to panic, then just think about THAT day and just GO

Fashion Show: Triumph 20 years of Maximizer Magic @ MoCA Singapore

Comments (1) Fashion, Fashion, Style & Beauty, Sponsored Post

I was flown to Singapore for a whirlwind trip to attend a fashion show by Triumph.
Little did i know the magnitude of the event… i thought it might be me and a few other media, but there was a big group from Malaysia and i was seated next to Deborah on the plane, during which i passed out the entire time!

Spot my cute Kipling x Natalie Joos cabin bag in the corner. We were promptly checked in to the Royal Plaza on Scotts where i hurriedly jumped to getting some emails done, make up and dress up; while stuffing large bites of delicious cod fish + vegetables and creme brûlée into my mouth in between!

Unashamedly showing how i got my Triumph Aqua Maximizer bra and underwear to perfectly match my dress.
The theme that night was “Enchanted Glamour” and i decided to grab a shiny blue dress i got from Ecstatic Empire cos it seemed the most appropriate, and went with my hair!

[Btw KinkyBlueFairy readers enjoy RM20* off when purchasing a Triumph Maximizer bra till end of this month.
Just give a Magic Code “JoyceMagic20” at selected Triumph counters.]

There were so many of us Malaysian media and personalities that the Triumph team got a coach to transport us to MoCA Museum of Contemporary Arts @ Loewen, where the event was held.

I was feeling some enchanted garden vibes at the entrance already!

AJ HACKETT Highest Bungy Jump in the world @ Macau Tower

Comments (5) China, Explore, Travel & Stay, Macau, Travel

I spent Labour Day weekend in Macau with Dhanya and Aps.
We ate so much incredible food – Portuguese, Chinese, 3-Michelin star French, award-winning pastries.
I can’t even wear my usual pants right now.

Been really busy with work since i got back (what else is new!)
I spent 9 hours running from appointment to appointment on Wednesday,
not counting social time which took up another 9 hours :p

Anyway, wanted to blog a quick one about how i finally got to do the highest bungy jump in the world!
I’ve always loved the thrill of bungy jumps since i was a teenager.

My first jump was over the Waikato River in New Zealand when i was 14.
I was so excited as my dad signed the waiver form and my mom fervently made the sign of the cross.

Then i did it in Bali twice in 2008, and even tried going backwards the second time.
I researched the highest bungy years ago, how high it was (233m), how much it cost, and figured it was too much effort to go all the way somewhere JUST to jump.

Forgot all about it till i found myself IN THE TOWER itself on our first night in Macau.
It happened to be in the same building we went for dinner at, and all the memories of the desire to do it came flooding back.

The girls: You have to do it!
Me: Yes… i have to… *still pondering whether i would*

We got Tino (our tour guide) to book me a slot, and i made up my mind the day before that i WOULD do it.

My slot to jump was before we headed to the airport for our flight home.
On the morning of, as i was packing my things in the hotel and deciding what to wear to the airport, i mumbled, “Hmm what do i wear to die in?”

Aps: Joyce!!! CHOI!

I laughed. Kidding la!
I was just starting to panic slightly at the thought of jumping and WHAT IF the cord was faulty and i smashed into the ground :p

It was a beautiful sunny afternoon to jump, and the perfect setting to indulge in some liquid courage chardonnay just before i ran up.

I was ambitiously optimistic for bringing my workout wear thinking i would try to go to the gym in the hotel…
but that didn’t happen. (i brought my workout wear to Sydney, Paris, etc and NEVER went to the hotel gyms #majorfail)
At least i still managed to wear it for THIS 😀 (so my boobs wouldn’t go bouncing about)

I was so excited to get geared up!
Balked when i saw the number 46 drawn clearly with permanent marker on my hand.
“I’m 46 kg?!”
I’m usually a 40 or 41.
Girl: The straps are 2kg.
Me thinking and mumbling to myself: So i’m 44… how did i put on 3-4kg in past week?!
Ok, say they increased the weight by 1-2kg just to be safe for their bungy cord calculations,
i still managed to put on 2-3 kg in a matter of days.

I put on weight so quickly when i don’t work out, and EAT LIKE A PIG.
(This has happened before.)
Anyway, i’ll stop with my #skinnyproblems before girls throw stones at me.

Emceeing style sessions for Pauls Boutique London

Comments (2) Business, Tech & Gadgets, Work

It’s been a really mad month/s of running around… it’s so hard to keep up all the things i want to blog about despite having a team who edits all the pictures for me because essentially *i* still have to write it cos i’m the only one who had the experience  😯

If only i have a robot (or two) that could download the experiences in my brain and write it out the way i would. That day may not be so far away… i started reading random chapters of Michio Kaku’s The Future Of The Mind and we might be able to download our memories and do all sorts of crazy stuff like send our brains out on a laser beam imprint into the universe and such soon!

Oh my goddess, totally digressed and haven’t even started the post.

About a month ago, Adrian from D-R-Events got in touch with me to host a couple of styling sessions across two Saturdays for Pauls Boutique, a brand that originated in the UK.

The brand was started in the early 2000s by Paul Slade who was motivated by his love for graffiti, 80s hip hop and Japanese street brands to create his own label named after a Beastie Boys album. Paul began with custom-making one-of-a-kind apparel and accessories from vintage items, and sold them at Portobello Market before being picked up by Topshop to sell in their flagship store on Oxford Circus. His pieces have been worn by Justin Timberlake, Rita Ora and Paris Hilton; and is now available across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and South Africa.

Adrian and Yuki picked out the clothes, and i lugged a giant bag of my personal collection over to accessorise the models and talk about silhouettes, mixing and matching, how to play with colours, etc.

KinkyBlueFairy-PaulsBoutique-01

With the models- Moni, Brenda, Anna and Natalia

I was told i’d only have to talk for 15-20 minutes to explain a dozen looks ranging from workwear and casual to cocktail/night; but i ended up talking for 45 minutes… I guess i have a lot to say about shopping and how to utilise the most of your purchases after all the experience i’ve had (and money spent :p)

Yuvani is a reader who came up to say hi after the segment, saying she recognised some of the accessories (on the models when they came out) as mine! I said that was kinda freaky but in a cool way. XD

On left is me with Serena from Female, and Jess/Jas/Jazz(?) from Her World

This is Part 3 and the last blogpost of my experience attending Kiehl’s Asia Symposium in Seoul, South Korea.

Kiehl’s Asia Symposium @ Seoul: Day 2

Our media troupe were brought to The Raum at Gangnam-Gu for the symposium of Kiehl’s Iris Extract Activating Treatment Essence.

After some quick research about The Raum, I was surprised to discover that it’s the first social venue ever in South Korea, whose planning itself took four whole years! Based on the developer’s philosophy and dedication to master craftsmanship, The Raum took three years to construct. Koreans and their dedication to perfection is definitely something I look up to.

That’s me! In my very questionable banana outfit.

We were ushered to be seated at our designated tables, each set up with bottles of the new Kiehl’s Iris Extract Activating Treatment Essence and vases of lilies.

The new Iris Extract Activating Treatment Essence is packaged in a convenient plastic bottle, which is perfect for clumsy people like me. This treatment water acts as a first step of anti-ageing treatment, or rather, first step of your usual beauty routine. It’s a method popularised by the Koreans (which we all agree are pretty advanced in their skin care). The ideal application is to use it on cleansed skin after toning, as it helps prepare the skin to efficiently receive the subsequent anti-ageing and hydration benefits of the following products applied.

“Anti-ageing” was a foreign term to me till I was 25 and could no longer ignore the increasing signs of my skin ageing – loss of glow and radiance, less supple, dull, rough skin texture, and the worst of all, visibility of fine lines..! This led to an overload of anti-ageing products in my beauty cabinet.

Some as young as 23 or 24 have to start preventing skin ageing issues earlier, due to lifestyle and environment, so make sure you get your skin tested regularly!
