Wah sorry
The (mis)conception when i’m a full-time blogger,
is that i have lots of time to stay at home and blog…
that doesn’t seem to be happening!
I’m out every day having meetings
(not that i’m complaining cos that means projects to work on and $ to earn!)
and because all my friends know i’m in KL and not tied to a full-time job,
they tend to invite me out more (last time it was always “Sorry, i’m damn busy with work.”)
to which i won’t say no cos i don’t know how to hold myself back.
So!
This week, i will not:
1) drink any alcohol till Thursday night
2) stay at home more to blog unless out for meals/meetings
Below are all the pix i took when i was Singapore for Flea Titan two weekends ago!
Grace + Linda = TWO FACE
Their song selection is 80% similar to SalahWrong!
Every time a song came on, i’d be thinking, “Hey! We play this song!”
Then the next one: “Oh this too..!”
And so on: “Oh my god, they like this song too?!”
After a while i just sat back and pretended it was SalahWrong playlist
All my fairy necklaces (that i bought wholesale on a whim in BKK) were sold out
Almost all my accessories were sold off,
EXCEPT for the ones i thought my favourite + most funky!
Don’t know whether it’s because i priced it higher (but it was expensive to buy as well!)
and i REFUSED to let it go for any cheaper cos i want to wear it too
Or it’s just too weird/colourful for people’s liking…
Grace played around with my Pen:
Grace blowing bubbles.
I assumed she’s Singaporean.
She’s actually from Myanmar.
This is Lynn, one of the organisers of Flea Titan
Alicia brought the bubbles and had a stall two places away from mine.
Love how she wore all red + blue + yellow to match her Nikes!
A hot customer.
She bought the patterend top from me,
which i’m pretty sure… i bought from Jacinta at another flea, months back!
Linda + Grace were gonna take me out for dinner,
and i said i can eat anything, i’m not fussy.
They took me to eat frog porridge at Chinatown.
I must say they were the prettiest frogs i’ve ever eaten >.<
But when in Rome… *chomp chomp*
I like Darren’s brutally honest stories :p
But don’t forget about KARMA if you read this okay!
+ + +
Some friends would mention that they just don’t ‘get the whole Twitter thing’
And i’d always reply: If you don’t join it, you won’t know.
Then i’d launch into how they can follow only news/people that interests them,
and be the first to know what’s happening without having to read the papers/watch the news on TV.
It’s so common nowadays!
For all of you who Tweet, i BET YOU’VE SAID this line before: “I found out from Twitter.”
“Did you know bout the blizzard in London?” “Ur yeah. It was on Twitter, like, yesterday.” “Oh…”
“Hey did you hear about the church bombings?” “Yeah i read it on Twitter when i woke up.” “Did you hear *so-and-so* got engaged?” “Yeah, it’s all over Twitter.”
“I got damn drunk last night..” “I know. I read on Twitter -_-“
It’s undeniable that the power of Twitter will not be going anywhere anytime soon.
And to be one of those people who swear not to get on Twitter cos ‘you don’t get it’
is just plain silly and not opening your mind to moving forward!
It’s like saying ‘i don’t like emails’ when Internet was available to public in the ’90s
and now everyone uses it.
You know…
I thought that when i’m past 25,
all these unnecessary episodes of friends being dramatic would be over.
I thought i would know better in picking out who
i hang out with
tell my secrets to (not like i have many!)
and be myself with
wouldn’t be a subject i would have to think about.
Just because i’ve been away so frequently (BUT YOU KNOW I LOVE IT MWAHAHA),
the moment i come back,
it’s like a chase to keep up with:
all these new places that have opened,
trying their food/drinks/service,
finding out who quit their job,
new projects ppl are working on,
new projects *i* wanna work on,
and all these events and parties that are up-a-coming!
The very hour i got back from Singapore,
i dropped my bags at home and went to meet Aps + JessRicher.
We spoke about going to Axwell this Friday,
then Aps excitedly went, “Oh! And 2manydjs next week!”
Me: Huh? What? When? Where?
God. Super cannot make it.
So i went online to check for what is this that everyone’s so excited about but i don’t know!
And I LOVE Heineken events cos they’re ALWAYS fun,
with great set up,
better music than most other events,
and everyone i know will be there all ready to PARTAY.
There’s no way you’ve not seen some crazy party pics
from previous Heineken Green Room parties i’ve been to,
like the one in 2008, and 2009.
So i’m really looking forward to a night to play dress up,
skip out,
and party wild next Friday!
(i must say, i miss partying in KL! but i love BKK too shhh)
Just watch this video to get you excited first okay!
It’s very short!
2manydjs consist of the Soulwax brothers:
Stephen + David Dewaele.
Revered for their sets of inspired mash-ups,
their mixes are so schizophrenic that i just can’t tell WHERE it’s going to go,
but their fusion of electro + rock + funk gels so well!
Plus you just won’t get bored cos it keeps changing all the time.
It’s frikkin brill and getting me super excited bout their set!
EEK!!!!
Ok ok i have to calm down.
I think because i’m writing this at 3am so i’m damn hyper.
Or maybe cos i love classical,
and fusing that with electro rocking beats just DOES it for me!
While listening to Soulwax Mix (2nd song on their Myspace),
i heard a very familiar first beat come in,
and sure enough,
it was MGMT’s Kids remixed into it.
Also includes The Chemical Brothers ‘Hey Boy Hey Girl’
Aiyo, i cannot explain this la,
just go LISTEN to it yourself.
I just msged MaintainMing saying he MUST COME,
cos i imagined him doing his ‘shoulder dance move’
while dancing in my chair to myself.
WHAT TO WEAR!!!
Besides 2manydjs, Green Room is also including the leaders of our KL electro scene
Btw, GXXX is a one-off collaboration between DJ Goldfish and a rock drummer,
which will see Goldfish adding a full percussive edge to his eclectic mix.
As if the lineup’s not enough,
the latest Green Room State of Mind project will also be screened on that night.
“Green Room State of Mind Project has developed into one of the art scene’s most progressive outlets for creative talents from disciplines ranging from film to fashion to sculpture and now photography. Its pop-up parties and exhibitions have helped to bridge the worlds of music and art and exploring how music soaks into the passions and inspiration of artists in many other spheres.”
This time, Green Room has brought on 3 prominent photographers
to record a series of images that seek to uncover the influence music has on their work + art.
Wah fail.
I really don’t have time to put up Sg pix RIGHT NOW cos i have 2 advertorials to write,
and a guestlist to cook up for an event i’m emceeing next week.
I know right.
Me. Emceeing?
I know i talk a lot.
But i think i talk a lot more in my head to myself :p
There have been many occasions i think, “MAN that looks so easy and i’m sure i can do better than her!”
Now let’s see me eat my own words!
I’m just hoping i don’t fuck up.
(And i think, after the PR + events ppl see this, they’d be like DAMN SHE BETTER NOT!)
:p
On a totally unrelated note (and because i’m procrastinating)
check out the world’s new tallest building – the Burj Khalifah in Dubai.
It’s 828 metres tall.
I wonder what it’d be like to BASE-jump off that.
It’d be complete madness!
Maybe i should visit Dubai this year…
I’ve always wanted to check out its architecture.
Though i might have to cover up my hair to be conservative.
0_-
On ANOTHER totally unrelated note,
I’m going to Spain in 2 weeks!
+ + +
Dear SunshineySteph has started this website for quite awhile already,
called The Wedding Guide!
I wanted to do an interview with her
but with me running around, i haven’t had time yet -_-
So thought might as well post a shout out first!
It may be strange to say this,
but i really enjoy taking the bus to Singapore.
I prefer it to flying any day.
The way i see it,
if i flew,
i’d have to take a long taxi ride to the airport which costs RM80,
then check in,
then only fly.
Whereas taking the bus,
i pay RM115 return on First Coach,
get to watch TV on the personal screen to the point i don’t get any shuteye tho i plan to.
(Keyword = Plan)
It may be more traveling time,
but less moving in and out of vehicles.
At one point,
i was so entranced by the gorgeous sight of the full moon outside,
despite having an equally engaging movie playing.
Lynn picked me up from the deserted bus stop
(for which i’m really grateful…)
I had so much luggage with me,
i didn’t end up bringing the rack i bought in Ikea!
I really couldn’t handle the amount to haul by myself through customs.
We went to get some Indian food for late dinner,
then she took me to Mustafa for me to buy a rack (friggin SGD39 wtf)
then she dragged me to Zouk.
I went there looking all, “Hello i just stepped off a bus, excuse my sloppiness!”
Bloody Beetroots was rocking the place and it was damn crowded.
Was super happy to see Linda
Grace + Linda be spinning at Flea Titan on Sunday
Linda + me + Grace
Grace stealing Lynn’s thunder -_-
After that i went back to my brother’s apartment at 3 plus am :p
Never been here before, and took me awhile to find the place.
I was expecting a bachelor-like pad.
I mean… i know he’s living in this apartment with 2 other guys,
but i kinda forgot that one dude has a small family.
Stepping in, i saw strollers neatly folded up against the wall,
toys in the bathroom,
and the floor of the apartment… is ridiculously clean.
So much so, i felt like i was dirtying it or something!
Couldn’t help thinking how the Universe is throwing children in my face wherever i travel -_-
Hope i don’t scare them with my hair tomorrow.
But more so: Hope i sell lots of my things tomorrow!
So excited!
