Every Day

Comments (2) Emo

Every day i spend some time sitting by myself
and count all the good things that have been happening to me lately
all the good people in my life i have helping me
and somewhat reflect on what i am doing right,
and how i can prolong this or make it even better.

Actually, this is supposed to be a short note to say:
WAIT i’m blogging about the Blackberry launch right now!

But incidentally went into emo mode  0_o

Emceeing the Blackberry event was something new for me,
and i couldn’t have done it without the help of RowdyRudy.
I was just thinking how fortunate i am to try doing something that fell into my lap,
*and* have a friend who’s one of the best in the entertainment industry help me at the same time.

I’ve been meaning to blog about this new spa for awhile,
and am finally gonna share it!

I. Am. A. Massage. Freak.
I don’t know how to give a good one,
but hell do i know the difference between a good and bad one when i receive it.

 :xlaughing:

SpankyCammy has been awfully busy most of 2009,
preparing a new spa in KL + Melb. to cater for younger corporates,
with services that come at a cheaper price than its sister counterpart.

You know like how Signature in Gardens caters to an audience that wants a cinema with more class,
but not as overpriced as Gold Class?
Yeah, that’s how i see Pure Energy.
Not as expensive as the 5-star spas (those are saved for superspecial occasions),
not as ciplak as all the RM50-per-hour spas you see everywhere (where i feel it’s a hit and miss at times)
but in the middle,
for people who are willing to pay slightly more,
for treatments on par with 5-star spas.

I went for the soft launch of her spa,
and looked on in immense interest,
only because i’ve been hearing every detail of her work since she started on the project (with Jia Wei designing it).

They did everything from scratch,
from the custom-made furniture,
to sourcing and training staff,
products, robes, glasses, etc!

Sorry, i’m going on and on about it cos i’ve seen how hard she’s been working all year,
till 11pm, weekends, and ’twas SO HARD to get her to come to Bali with us!

Anyway, back to the spa   :xshy:

Pure Energy is supposed to be for those who are high on stress
(or those who want pampering like me!), and low on time.

Datin Ramona Suleiman: “Our aim is to build a global brand of spa services recognized for its simplicity and consistency of standards, but without charging an arm and a leg. Pure Energy is known as the little “trendy” sister to the Award Winning Energy Day Spa. With 7 years of experience, the consistency is very much achievable.”

Foot Work and Clothes-On Body Works are massages when you’re busy,
yet want some stress relief.
There’s a wee swing table for your laptop + free WIFI,
so you can surf/work and have a hot drink while getting a massage at the same time!
(Treatments from RM45)

SpankyCammy showed me all these pictures of animals on the walls of the spa,
as Pure Energy partners with PAWS by donating a percentage of their turnover to the animal shelter.

Anyway, to support and try its services,
i went back before Christmas to get a much-needed facial and massage.

After my treatment, i smsed SpankyCammy:
“You sneaky bitch. How am i going to go to ANY OTHER place for massage now!? I hate you.”

Cos it was just so. damn. good.

She merely replied with “hee hee hee”

 :xwhatevah:

I commented it on my blogpost *here* but failed to mention which spa it was, oops!

Shopping for Spain. Before in Spain. I’m so Screwed.

Comments (6) Shopping

RowdyRudy asked me to teman him pick a suit,
and i readily agreed to play freelance consultant.

I Qweeted where to get men’s suits in KL,
and got some answers like:
Massimo Dutti, Club Monaco, Ted Baker, Zara, Topshop, Hugo Boss, etc.

We happened to be next to Topshop first, so we went in.
I bit my lip and steadied myself not to be distracted by women’s clothing,
and to stick to the plot
STICK TO THE PLOT JOYCE
At the men’s section, RR’s eyes went wide.
“I am NOT wearing that. That is so gay.”
“Can you just wait and not shoot everything down?” i laughed.

In another store:
“That looks stupid. Are you SURE you want me to wear that?!”
“Look, *i* don’t want to be on stage with someone who doesn’t look good ok trust me!”

5 stores, some changing room action and a lot of swearing later,
he got his suit,

and i…

managed to pick up a few winter items to wear in Spain next week.   :xshy:

I know, i know right,
i am going to borrow some coats from fairy-sized friends like Aps and Ashley,
but an enthusiastic conversation ensued in Zara.

“…The coats in Zara are on sale!”
“And those are SO you.”
“Exactly, think of all the fun layering you can do with them.”
“And you’d look great in pictures!”
“Look, it’s warm knit. So it’s gonna keep you warm and not just a fashion statement.”
“Yeah!”
“I can think of a few ways to wear this with existing items I have already…”
“Should SO get it.”
“But i’m only going for 10 days…”
“So what? You’re definitely going back to Europe this year right? You said you were going to travel more?”
“That’s true.”
“So you see. It’s an INVESTMENT.”
“So. True.”

So i bought 2 coats (RM199 each!) and a thick long-sleeved knit thing for RM100.

Okay right!

The voices in my head always help me make monumental decisions   :xsilly:

Later on i was asked whether i’m excited bout going to Barcelona and Madrid.
“Yeah! I get to play around with layering clothes!”
“… are you serious?? -_-“

I can’t believe my joke can be mistaken for real   :xwhatevah:

Oh and these are studded gloves and a knit beanie, with gold lining underneath, i got from Topshop last week.

My fondest memory of this group was our raving days.
See here the first Zoukout i went to with them over 5 years ago!
That night, we all couldn’t help stating how our raving days are over cos we CMI already.
[CMI = Cannot Make It. Learnt that from the Singaporeans!]

Stanley!
I knew Stan from the days he was with BAT and i used to hang out with a group of them incessantly.
Like how he was there when Ramjeet read my palm lines.

We live one road away from each other, and I can’t believe i only had a good chat with him after 14 years.
Think of the massive trouble we could have got up to if we knew each other last time!
Then again… thinking of that, maybe it was for the best   :xsilly:

Are You A Twitter Addict?

While at Axwell, i tried tweeting a picture of Gabe on the decks
but it just WOULDN’T go through.
And despite knowing the connection was somehow blocked in there,
i still kept trying in between kung fu moves of handling my drink.

You know how in certain places you just can’t receive proper phone reception or internet connection?
Like certain corners in clubs, cinemas,
and Spaghetti Grill in Mid Valley.   :xwhatevah:

Spaghetti Grill is the worst.
There was an incident where RudyLaFaber and i waited in that restaurant for 45 minutes,
each not knowing that the other was already there,
just because we couldn’t get through to each other on our phones!

Then the last time i was there,
i was trying to tweet someone back and it just refused to send 100%.
And even though i KNOW i should stop trying,
i *still* press resend to get the Tweet through (unsuccessfully)
After 2 Guinnesses i gave up.

Signs You’re a Twitter Addict

– You check Tweets in the bathroom.
– You tweet about the jam while in the jam.
– Checking your Tweet stream the moment you wake up, and before bed.
– Having to release emotion via Tweets at any given time and moment.
– Refreshing your Twitter stream at the pc even though there are only (2) new Tweets but you just HAVE TO SEE WHAT IT IS.
– Using Twitter to ask friends to HURRY UP when meeting up with them.
– Sense of frustration when Tweets cannot go through. Cos after 10 minutes your emotion at time of sending Tweet has dissipated.

For the last statement,
at least i can combat that by Tweeting via SMS.
And i don’t feel like it costs me anything cos it’s RM1 per week   :xsilly:

xpax twitter via sms

If *you* wanna Tweet or follow others’ Tweets but don’t have a phone with internet connection,
you can still Tweet from your phone via SMS for supercheap.

Just create a Twitter account, then sms <T> to 29800

Tongue in Chic mentioned in the New York Times! :D

Tongue in Chic was mentioned in the New York Times yesterday in the feature – “The 31 Places to Go in 2010”

30. Kuala Lumpur

While Phuket and Angkor Wat are tourism anchors in Southeast Asia, jetsetters in the region are heading these days to Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysian capital that’s quietly evolved into one of the area’s coolest and friendliest cities.

Not only are K.L.-ites diehard foodies, fiercely proud of a robust street food scene that straddles Chinese, Indian and Malay flavors — check out the food blog EatingAsia (www.eatingasia.typepad.com) — they’re also shopaholics, spending weekends trawling boutiques for the latest looks emerging from the sophisticated local fashion scene.

The country’s media-appointed King of Fashion is Bernard Chandran, who recently stole the spotlight when Lady Gaga wore one of his candy-pink minidresses to an awards show in London. His concept store is at the KL Plaza on Jalan Bukit Bintang. Another designer to look out for is Khoon Hooi, known for streamlined yet feminine dresses in muted tones, sold at his flagship store in the ritzy Starhill Gallery; and Melinda Looi, who makes vintage-inspired cocktail dresses from chiffon.

Bloggers at Tongue in Chic keep vigilant watch over the city’s fashion temples, which are clustered along the streets of Jalan Telawi 2 and 3 in the suburb of Bangsar, a 15-minute cab ride from the city center. To showcase the young designers, the blog recently started Chic POP, a flea market held every three months at one of K.L.’s most prestigious dance clubs, Zouk (www.zoukclub.com.my). — Naomi Lindt
