Thanks, Juice “Best of 2009”!

Thanks to Juice for including SalahWrong in their Best of 2009 list :xhappy:

Best Music Selektahs SalahWrong
Sometimes it’s not about perfect mixing and it’s about track selection. Joyce Wong aka KinkyBlueFairy and Sarah Chan aka Sarchan don’t proclaim to be DJs but “song selektas” and crate dig through the indie, electro and pop with the attitude to match.”

juice best of 2009

They also included Chic Pop (fashion flea market by Tongue in Chic)   :xlaughing:

Best Way To Spend Your Dough Chic Pop
Calling all recessionista sisters, this is the year to budget shop. Chic Pop @ Zouk brought it with its bargain basement fashion finds, food, drink, music, good company and charitable spirit. We’re already saving up for the next one.”

Thanks again Juice! :xheart2:

hannah tan

Hannah Tan is organising this fantastic concert in conjunction with Christmas,
where people give presents (for underprivileged and HIV-infected children) instead of $ for tickets.

I know many of you may think that this is a publicity stunt etc.
But i MUST ADD that Hannah is one of the most genuine and loving people i’ve met.
She is truly one of those people i think are beautiful inside and out.
I swear i can just feel it just oozing out of her,
and she’s always such a comfort to be around.

So if you feel like giving a gift to a child this Christmas (but don’t know who to give to, plus all the children you know HAVE SO MUCH ALREADY!)
Do steer towards giving to this cause instead.

The artistes (incld. Harith Iskandar, Hans Isaac, Meet Uncle Hussein and many more)
are not doing this for any money in return
and just want to see this event a success.

Please do click to read how you can contribute to this.
Every little bit counts!

Christmas Cheer!

Comments (8) Bangkok, Music, Thailand, Travel

QueenKanch was away on a company trip last Friday,
and i thought i’d surprise her by getting a Christmas tree for the suite
seeing it’s December and all!

ClaudiaOnCrack’s mummy told me to go to Sampeng in Chinatown to get cheap Xmas deco,
so i traipsed there by myself via 2 trains, foot and a tuk tuk.

There were a few shops selling Christmas deco,
and i checked most of them out for the one with the best and cheapest stuff.
That’s diligence for you, haha.

Was tremendously drawn to a particular store with everything i was looking for at decent prices,
and it was super packed with people, obviously -_0

After i picked out a wee tree, i moved on to picking out lots of decorations for it.
Santas, reindeer, acorns, teddies.
I think i got carried away… cos i ended up with more deco than i needed.

So i decided to upgrade to a bigger tree to hold all the deco i wanted   :xlaughing:

After purchasing everything, i realised “WHAT HAVE I DONE”
cos i conveniently forgot that i’d have to lug everything back by myself.   :xwhatevah:

Point to note: 5’3″ person should not lug back 4′ tree + bagful of decorations halfway across the city during peak hour.   :xwhatevah:

After carrying the tree in all sorts of ways,
and stopping every now and then to rest,
i found out the best way to carry it was to HUG IT.

So there i was.
Hugging a huge box at the train station which was freaking crowded with people.
I don’t remember the last time i was in such a long human queue!
Even overhead someone saying they’ve never seen the BTS station so crowded before.

Great.

I choose a day and time to take the train
WHEN it’s so crowded
and WHEN i have so much stuff with me!

And you know what was more malang?
I had to queue up THREE times to get my train ticket!
I’d almost reached the end of the first line i was in, when the machine went out of order!
Everyone dispersed from it to quickly join other lines, as did i.
Then after queuing up in the 2nd line… the same thing happened again!
Kan tragic  -_-
By the time i was in my 3rd queue, i was so tired and didn’t care if anyone thought strangely of me resting my face on the box.

Anyway, i finally got everything home and got really excited!
Since we have a tree, we’re planning to throw a Christmas party   :xlaughing:

Kanch: How many people are we inviting? :xsurprised:
Me: I don’t know… how many people do we know in Bangkok? :xlaughing:

My Biological Clock Lied To Me

Comments (6) La la la

I had a brill nap by the pool,
and watched some really cute kids playing there.

I admit,
my biological clock suddenly decided to exist.
0_o
And my Cluckiness kicked in for a good 5 minutes,
before i went upstairs to cook myself noodles.

Fast forward two hours later,
i’m in the apartment with QueenKanch, and her friend Steph + 4yo daughter Dahlia.
Dahlia loved how kid-friendly i made the place.
Lion King was playing on TV, toys and colourful cloths were everywhere.

dahlia

Fast forward 30 minutes later.
Dahlia has strewn all my sparkles all over the apartment while shouting “Hooray!”,
erased the message i wrote for Kanch on my Doodle Pad,
asked me to get out of the way to watch Lion King,
and mixed all my furry pom poms + toys together in some crazed concoction and spread them around on the floor and table.

dahlia

I remembered my previous thought of having a child,
and went, “Maybe NOT.”

There’s space for only one kid in this apartment.
And that’s me.

My Rimmel Mascara Didn’t Run in Bali

rimmel roadshow midvalley

I went to the Rimmel roadshow @ Mid Valley a couple of weeks back!
Taking up the centre court on the lower ground floor,
the Rimmel peeps decked up the area with lots of mirrors, make up stations,
a photo area, English telephone booths and more:

Some girlies i know were already there getting their makeover,
so i snapped pix of them for fun   :xwinky:

I usually don’t wear waterproof mascara unless the occasion calls for it,
and i did so last week in Bali.

I MUST SAY it was really good after hours of splashing about in the pool,
crying with laughter,
and rubbing my eyes (bad habit) constantly!

Angel did my make up.

Deranged in Bangkok

Comments (6) Bangkok, Thailand, Travel

That’s what i thought i looked like at the Suvarnabhumi airport this morning.

I stayed up all night editing pictures and cleaning up an advertorial,
caught a taxi at 6am to go to the airport,
passed out in the plane to the extent i didn’t even drink water,
and when i was standing for my first ten minutes in Bangkok;
I somehow managed to punch myself in the face.

-_-

No, really.

I was in the midst of hoisting my new Nike Monica bag up (with laptop inside),
lost grip of the bag handles,
and punched my own nose with the same force i meant to lift bag.
