God, hangover.
Quick one before i run for a hotel lunch and meet the other fashion media + bloggers brought down by HP.
After a gruelling 24-hour journey, Ivy (The Star) and i were sent to Millennium Hotel on Broadway
We were famished, so we walked out to grab some pizza and fajitas
Pottered about Times Square a bit but i wasn’t really into the stores there… (really touristy)
so just snapped some pictures and ducked back into the hotel to rest.
Think i underestimated the jetlag.
Passed out in deep sleep from 8pm-11pm!
Woke up thinking i really CANNOT waste time in NYC
so changed and grabbed a taxi to East Village (cos i read online some bars were there)
Walked around, couldn’t find the specific bar i was looking for (which someone told me was a blessing in disguise cos it’s a shithole, thanks Google haha)
went into a bar and ordered a Guinness
Had a nice conversation with with an Irish bartender Steve
and mentioned i didn’t really want to shop around Times Square.
“No,” he said, “You wouldn’t, you look like a Soho girl to me!”
I laughed cos that’s where i’m planning to go on Wednesday.
Steve told me i might like the corner of Houseton Houston and Orchard on the lower east side
so i made my way there after my 2nd Guinness
Saw a bunch of peeps haning outside a bar,
and asked two guys where i should go
“What kind of music do you like?” asked one
“Rock,” i said
“You’ll probably like Radiocity, just go down this block, turn left and it’ll be down the street.”
“Thanks!” i replied
“Come back here if you get lost!” said the other as i walked off
In the end i DID get lost.
Couldn’t find the place at all!
I walked and walked and everything looked dark
So i went back to the bar and joined them
Turns out their names are Nathan and Ryan, and they’re part-time musicians as well
“Are you in fashion?” asked Nathan
“Yes, i write about it sometimes.”
“It’s painfully obvious.”
Painfully obvious? 0_o
I’m putting it down to the large Vice & Vanity necklace i was wearing last night.
They introduced me to the bartenders who were their friends
and had a shot of whiskey with them
This guy Ben said, “When you ordered the Guinness, we were thinking if you say yes to a shot of whiskey, you’re definitely one of us!”
So nice la they all.
I feel really blesses to have made friends with such nice people on my first night!
Ended up watching them sing behind the bar as they cleaned up for the night
and felt for a second like i was in a movie and felt so much happinness and love!
(Could probably be attributed to the fact i was high).
Made myself leave cos i was getting way too drunk.
And managed to somehow take a bath before passing out.
DAMN i really have to go for lunch now
so will continue this later!

The weather has been two extremes every day in KL
Early half of the day will be FREAKING HOT (today the temp outside my car in Bangsar was 41°C!)
Then at about 3pm it’ll start storming to the point i’m apprehensive about driving
Been in a mad rush to get things done before my big trip of the year!
Thought Spain was my ‘big trip of the year’, but i guess not!
Running all these errands like
getting my road tax done,
getting new glasses made (lost my old ones, got new balenciagas and my power has gone up anyway),
changing currencies to USD, euros and pounds,
sending dry cleaning,
picking up my US visa (10 years! yay!)
Also a busy weekend as i’ll be hosting the Hanger event at Luna tonight,
and the pole-dancing charity event tomorrow.
I’ll be flying to New York this Sunday night thanks to HP!
They’re sending me for the SATC 2 premiere!
I’m SO lucky i know!
The only other person they’re sending besides me is Ivy, editor at The Star,
so i feel really really fortunate that i’ve been invited as a blogger
I LOVE SEX AND THE CITY!
Used to blog about it so much when i first started KinkyBlueFairy
And who knew it’d be possible for me to attend its premiere in NYC!
Arghhhhh supersexcited!!
2nd thing i’m excited about is meeting Tim Gunn (from Project Runway)
I had to contain my squeals when they showed me my schedule over a lunch meeting just now
(ok so i didn’t contain my squeals. i squealed. in public.)
3rd thing i’m excited about are the museums and shopping!
After NYC, i come back to KL for 2 days,
then i fly off to London for 6 weeks!
In the middle, i’ll be going to theIsle of Wight fest,Copenhagen, Amsterdam, and maybe Prague (haven’t bought tix yet)
Out of London, i only know friends in Copenhagen,
so i’ll be winging the other places alone and ber-adventure sendiri!
I’ve been wanting to do summer in Europe for years…
but never had the money / time.
And now it’s finally happening…
In a way i’m not feeling it yet, cos it still seems a bit surreal.
But i’m sure that’s to stop when i have to pack.
‘Tis gonna be a fashion challenge to fit outfits for 6 weeks,
and still have space for shopping (i’m bound to do)
So now you know… for the next 2 months,
this blog will be all about NYC and EUROPE baby!
I woke up at 7am on Tuesday
so that i could leave home at 7:45am
and reach the US Embassy by 8:50am to apply for my visa
Noticed the gorgeous sunrise for the first time from the apartment balcony
Despite the many complaints and flaws we bring up about KL,
i’m sure many of us heart KL heaps anyway.
(Think i’m being emo bout KL cos i’ll be away for 6 weeks muahahaha)
Anyway, wanted to say that i’ve NEVER experienced morning traffic in KL city before. “Never?” asked Terry (when we met up reg. a comedy he’s doing in KLPAC in August) “No. Never. My previous job in the city required me to be in by 10:30am, so i always managed to skip the jam!”
All i can say is: the traffic was HORRENDOUS!
A few people told me i can get from Hartamas to city centre in less than an hour for sure.
No man.
At 8:35am, i was freaking PRAYING IN THE CAR OKAY.
Thinking FUCK MY LIFE UPSIDE DOWN i’m going to miss my interview slot and not be able to go to New York because of the jam, this is crazy! this is unfair! i left so freaking early somemore! i wonder if i can park my car here and RUN there? NO! it doesn’t make sense! i’m already on jalan ampang! i’m so close! OH MYGOD!
Super stress sendiri in the car.
I didn’t even tweet cos i was THAT upset and stressed out!
In the end, there’s actually a line outside the US Embassy where ppl register to go in,
so i was slightly late,
but there were others in the same time slot as me (which i didn’t know about)
so PHEW!
Gave thanks to the Universe after that for hearing my insane spew of begging.
I don’t know how people manage to combat traffic like that day after day.
It would depress me terribly to have to sit in an almost-stationary car
and stare at row after row of other almost-stationary cars.

Went to have lunch with AshleyTheMonkey and her friend Jean
at Citrus in BVII after being at the embassy for 3 hours -_-
And back to her shop to hang out for a while.
I had a friend over recently,
cos she wanted to let out about some problems her man and her are going through.
Story i’m sure most of us have heard before:
Couple in love,
one is Muslim,
the other is Catholic,
one decides they should end it cos there is no future
(as both parties refuse to convert).
I’d say a problem like that sinks in more
when i’m talking to her for 3 hours
and knowing every detail of their relationship and its problem.
Clem came home from work while we were still chatting,
and tried not to blink an eye at the half-bottle of whiskey on the table
and tear-stained face next to his girlfriend.
In the end, he got asked his opinion on the matter as well,
so he sat down next to me with a beer in hand
and took over my Aunt Agony role.
After my friend left,
i was SUPER nice to him.
Heated up his dinner, brought him beer, water,
washed the seedless grapes i bought for his dessert,
agreed to watch Titanic with him (HAHAHA).
Him: “Why are you so nice to me today?!” Me: “Whaddaya talking about? I’m ALWAYS nice to you -_-“
Him: “Yes, but you are EXTRA nice today!” Me: “Well, i was thinking Mondays could be Nice-T0-Clem Days.”
Him: “Aww” Me: “And Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays are Nice-To-JOYCE DAYS!”
Him:
Truth is, i guess i was being extra nice
cos i was appreciating the fact how we didn’t have to fight about the topic of religion.
No doubt, we’ll have other things to fight about in the future.
But for that night, i hugged him and quietly said, “I’m glad we don’t have to worry about the religion part in our relationship.”
