I miss Amsterdam!
Yishyene and i were sitting by the canal
having lunch + listening to music
and wishing we could have just one more day there.
I landed in Heathrow yesterday afternoon,
went home, dropped by bags, changed,
and made my way to Hyde Park to watch Kings of Leon
Couldn’t help taking a picture of the sign, cos it’s SO ME.
Jayna + i
2 small bottles of wine + 1 bottle of cider = party joyce
I told the dude he should let me draw a mole next to his mustache,
but he said he has to go to work tomorrow and it won’t come off.
Bought some McDs
and laughed in the queue to myself cos i was watching something funny (which i don’t remember now) and had to explain to the person next to me in queue WHY i was laughing
so they wouldn’t think i’m some mad person giggling alone.
Simply picked out some Mars bars milkshake,
and it’s currently my FAVOURITE MILKSHAKE IN THE WORLD.
Before coming to Amsterdam,
i bought myself its Wallpaper City Guide while i was in NYC.
One of the restaurants mentioned in it, As, happened to be near Qbic,
so Yishyene made a booking and we walked over for Sunday lunch.
As is a former church,
and on an entirely separate hand,
also the former home to art+design+fashion collection, Platform 21.
Its interior is based around rustic communical tables
and is designed by Muller van Tol.
One thing i love about Yishyene is how we both place food as a high priority on our Things-To-Spend-On list.
We both shared a linguine and pizza,
and it was AMAZING.
After lunch, we took the train to city centre
On me > floral top; absolute vintage
white shorts; aa
pink tights; topshop
pink + white scarf; zara
Nothing is open in Amsterdam on a Sunday.
Almost nothing.
The Anne Frank house was open but the queue was so long, i decided to go for it on a weekday.
We bought drinks,
sat by the canal (as everyone else seemed to be doing), watched the sun glint on the water,
listened to a man on a violin,
and envied the ppl passing by in boats with lots of food on the tables.
We got tired of the canal after a long time (quite long, really)
and looked for Vondelpark
where we sat in the sunshine
eating olives
and drinking beer
We also met this really funny guy called Francois.
He wasn’t creepy nor weird like other ppl who tried disturbing us,
and us three had some good converstaions.
Many of them involving Yishyene and i laughing at him.
He let us in on this stampcard he was very excited about,
where for every 5 euros you spend, you get a chop.
And when you get 10 chops,
you get a free mini football.
This stampcard was for Bull Dog,
a shop that sells weed and hash legally.
Flew in to Amsterdam today
after a massive night out @ Shoreditch with Meesh, Jayna, Marie + AlcoJason yesterday.
Just about managed to drag my hungover ass out of bed,
curse silently about how my body doesn’t tolerate alcohol as it used to,
pack,
and jump on the Heathrow Express.
The scenery is immaculate.
Staying at Qbic. No complaints here – rooms are spotless, modern…
and the lights change colour according to the settings you decide on.
At first, Yishyene and i were like, “Damn, it’s gonna be like a porn movie!” But it’s pretty cool in a trashy way.
Also like the bathroom lights with motion sensors for when you step into it.
Great for blur people like us.
Were starved, so we got ready and headed out
to have carbonara + wine for dinner,
before a walk in Amsterdam’s red light district to digest our food.
Had drinks,
ventured into a ‘coffee shop’,
surveyed girls in window displays (squirming their bodies and once, touching herself),
watched the guys who were causing human traffic jams by stopping to gawk in front of the windows,
and found ourselves in Supperclub.
The real one, that clubs in KL and BKK were ‘inspired’ after.
My grannie took me to Chinatown for dim sum yesterday afternoon.
The last time she took me there, just the two of us, was when i was 17.
Since i was in the area, i braved the Topshop sale (cos it’s usually absolute CARNAGE on a normal day)
and surprisingly… it wasn’t that bad!
I didn’t get stepped, snapped or shoved.
Did some shopping and contributed to the British economy (as my dad and aunty say :p)
and had a drink (non-alcoholic, for once, I JUST HAD TO MENTION THAT) with DidiBuli, who’s here mainly for Glastonbury this weekend
Uncle Mark + Aunty Gerry took me to watch The War Horse
Meesh told me she heard it’s damn sad
so i thought, aih, i’m so not gonna cry since i’ve already been told it’s sad!
…
I ended up crying till i wet the top of my singlet -_-
It’s SO good and so sad…
I can’t believe Uncle Mark didn’t cry :p
Went for seafood dinner at J. Sheekey after the show.
And THAT WAS SO GOOD AS WELL.
I had oysters and lobster,
but also ended up stealing Uncle Mark’s Cornish stew.
It reminded me of bouillabaisse, which i love, and am plotting to learn to cook!
Ate and ate,
savoured the food,
sat back,
sighed,
and thought to myself, “How am i going to return to a normal life without food like this in KL…”
I was stuffed and feeling in disdain,
the way the skin on the side of my body can fold and touch each other,
when i stood and waited for the bus.
“New feeling right,” said Yishyene “Sob yeah man,” i replied, tugging at my sides.
However, i’m just gonna eat as much as i want. And erm run and stuff when i get back to KL :p
Have already pre-emptied Clem that i will return a fatter fairy.
Samantha, Jayna, RyanSoosay
Arivind got really excited to meet Wilson
Yishyene + i
Caught the Tube before it shut to get home,
and was talking to Clem on the phone before i slept
(and he just woke up for work).
“What are you doing?” “Just bathed… drinking a glass of wine…”
“When was the last time you didn’t drink for a day?…” *thinking* Erm shit when i was in KL…?
“… when you were 15?” “Bastard.”
