I brought an old necklace into the store today to get it cleaned.
As the store assistant took it in her hand to inspect it, i couldn’t help apologizing, “Sorry, it’s so dirty..!”
She seemed so poised despite its miserable condition, and i couldn’t help blurting out, “i haven’t worn it for years, an ex boyfriend gave it to me and i didn’t want to wear it, but now that i’m over him, i can.” She giggled a bit and i felt a bit better.
As i waited for my receipt to be ready, i took a look around the store for fun. Checked out the typical heart bracelets you see everywhere, some cool wrist cuffs, diamond earrings, and came across… the wedding rings. The moment i saw couple rings, i just swooped over them. Hmm, no. Not gonna need knowing about those anytime soon. Don’t waste time in store, just move on. Saw a series of rings with little diamonds lining the whole band. They were so pretty.
I stopped, and just stared at every single one of them. Noted down the different sizes of diamonds, their accompanying prices, and which one i was most likely to buy myself if i were to buy myself one. I wasn’t actually going or wanting to buy one at that moment. You know that game you play with yourself? When you see an array of things you really like in a store, and play pretend which one you’d get if you could? (Once i walked around an entire department store noting down all the things i wanted for fun and didn’t buy a single thing.)
As i was doing my thing, my thoughts started dancing through my head.
Wait, why would i buy myself a diamond ring? Those diamonds are so pretty Diamond ring… me buying myself a diamond ring… Well, why not? Yeah, why not. No one’s gonna buy me a diamond ring any time soon, so i might as well aim to buy myself one! I might as well just marry myself! Hahaha!
I laughed inwardly at my thoughts, and hurried back to the counter to collect my receipt.
Walking out of the store felt liberating. Who knew a solo trip to Tiffany’s could be such an adventure!
I told KrazyKatKyan how i’d recently dug out all the jewelry past boyfriends gave me, and started wearing all of them. I used to store them in the drawer because i was either too emotionally distraught by it, or other boyfriends didn’t like me wearing it. (Can i just say now to all girls, when you have a boyfriend, there really is no need to tell them where that jewellery before him came from.)
Now i took them all out. I feel emotionally free to wear them now and it feels great.
Knowing i was going to be there for a good half day, i brought my laptop along to work (even tho i would very much rather be watching the personal TV they provide, or catching up with the fash mags). I was provided green tea, orange juice, coffee and plentiful of food. I even had to stop them from feeding me at cos i had enough to eat and felt bad for such luxurious treatment. Maybe i should just get used to it…
Celine Yap is my new Artistic Director and she’s got my hairstyles planned for the next few months…. i’m LOVING what she’s created for me the first time round and can’t wait to see the awesomeness that is to come.
I didn’t even know what colour it was going to be till i looked up from my laptop and saw BRIGHT purple.
[No photoshop done, except raising contrast slightly. Eyeshadows from Urban Decay Vice palette; and waterproof metallic eyeliner & eyebrow pencil from Shu Uemura. The trick to great eyeshadow application is in the brushes. For me anyway.]
Three varying shades of pink and purple to be precise 😀
I lahv it!!!! <3
I am getting closer to achieving my goal in being a my little pony. Forever.
Celine managed to dye it in such a way that i can show more pink or more purple depending on where i part my hair.
Amazing. I’ve never got so many compliments on my hair in a constant stream before. Everyone’s saying how much it suits me and the line i’ve heard the most is: “I love your hair!”
To which i’d respond, “Me too!!” 😆
I daresay… this might well be one of the best hair colour works i’ve had done on me, to the point i don’t want to change it anytime soon!
It’s misleading how much time people think i spend on my hair daily – cos i only JUST started owning a comb (since my hair is at its longest in 8 years right now) and i like my hair being low maintenance in the sense that i literally take 5 seconds to run serum through it before i’m out the door. (i still don’t use the comb all the time… only after washing my hair :p)
This is how my hair looks like in its natural state.
Kinda Twiggy-turns-rockpop.
Centro’s new salon is one that i’ve been itching to try since it reopened in the past year. Every time i describe it to friends, the word “lush” comes out of my mouth. I just can’t help it. That place is just lush to the max.
There’s a huge metal ‘W’ at its entrance so you can’t possibly miss it, and it leads you onto a unique golden carpet into a luxurious corridor filled with glimmering metal partitions and dim lights.
The first time i walked in there last year, i felt like the only thing missing was a glass of champagne in my hand. It felt like a private lounge i wanted to hang around some more at!
One of my favourite design features at Centro W are the gold metal helium balloon structures above the front desk. I asked Jessica where she got them from, and she said they’re custom-made… Figures. -_-
Judging from how it looks and the service i get there… this may well be the best hair salon in KL right now.
The salon is spread across a sprawling 2,600 sqf which covers a 14-seater salon with mirrored ceilings, a separate salon for Creative Director Kevin Woo, two VIP rooms, quick cut area, powder room, manicure+pedicure room and cloakroom.
Above is picture of the dedicated area for customers of Creative Director Kevin Woo. Notice the golden rods suspended from the ceiling, and don’t forget to bask extra in the glow of the Flos floor lamps when you’re there.
I think this must be the idyllic room for hair stylists to achieve calling their own. It’s what happens to you when you’re the winner of the L’Oreal Colour Trophy Award (2006) and have other accolades like Best Hair Makeover 2013 (Malaysian Women’s Weekly) and Best Hair Stylist (Judge’s Pick, Harper’s Bazaar Hair Award 2014) under your belt.
One of the two VIP rooms; with light-infused French door moldings, black tinted mirrors, and Takara Belmont’s signature Yume chair equipped with swivel massages and a full 180 degree recline.
I’m not great at multi-tasking but i tried my best that day!
Heading to the Ford showroom one recent Saturday morn, i helped myself to the mini buffet spread and drinks (available to anyone there to check out Ford) before getting miked up.
Thanks for the paparazzi shot, Melissa :p
Obligatory shot in front of the new Ford Fiesta 1.0L EcoBoost.
Check out its sporty body kit.
If you thought i was gonna lie atop the car, sorry to disappoint (not)
The crew followed me around during my test drive as i spoke about how i felt while my experience was going on. I hope i didn’t scare them with my driving! XD
I had a great time,
narrowly avoiding potholes in PJ,
making sharp U-turns,
accelerating and braking sharply,
deftly cutting cars,
manoeuvring the steering wheel with one hand…
It’s a very easy car to manage with sensitive steering, a minuscule shift of my hands steering it to exactly where i want it to be, once i got used to its motions.
The biggest surprise for me is how powerful the automobile is, considering its engine is a mere 1.0L.
I take it back, i can’t possibly use the word ‘mere’ after experiencing what it can do. Despite being so tiny it can fit on an A4-sized piece of paper, the 1.0L EcoBoost engine emits an output that’s higher than that of a conventional 1.6L. The turbocharged engine with 125 PS and 170 NM operates with Powershift ® six speed automatic transmissions.
The 1.0L EcoBoost engine is so impressive it’s won International Engine of the Year for three years running (2012-2014). Previously, the EcoBoost was used in the Ford Focus, but the Fiesta makes it the smallest and lightest car it’s been paired with yet. The combination between the 3-cylinder engine and the Fiesta chassis is said to be an ingenious match.
As i zipped around in the Fiesta, i was assured that i was safe with the 7 airbags surrounding me. If you’re not the type to zip around cos you’re thrifty with petrol, you’re gonna love the next bit – the Ford Fiesta uses 20% less fuel, at 5.3L per 100km. So zip away!
A feature i love that accompanies my zipping around, are the car’s daytime running lights. I’d taken on the habit of driving in the daytime with my lights on, from Clem (apparently it’s encouraged in France). It used to drive me nuts when i saw him do it, but now i understand its theory – if you’re gonna speed zip, you might as do so with extra precaution just in case some driver doesn’t see you cos he’s blur.
I met some of my readers that day who got to test drive the new Fiesta with me!
John asked me whether i remember “Kamkuey” and i was like, “Yes!… Oh my god that’s you?”
I remember Kamkuey commenting on my Xanga blog years and years ago.
It was so nice to have a proper chat with him about boats, fishing and upgrading life.
As John drove the car around, he told me how he’d bought a Ford Fiesta a few years ago and was keen to try the latest one out.
I told him what i knew about it – that it’s got SYNC voice activation technology (lets you make calls via voice commands), how it connects to your smartphone/iPod/MP3 player/USB stick… how it’s got keyless entry with Push Button Start. He chattered away easily about cars and taught me more about it that day.
Christal told me how she’s shopping around for a new car, as she’s driving a manual one and feels it’s time for a change. I couldn’t help proffering the fact that the Fiesta has Hill Launch Assist, preventing the vehicle from rolling downhill when on a slope. Hey, it’s a valid reassurance okay. I remember driving a super old rickety jeep up the steep hills of central Bali, having the engine die on me halfway, and praying i wouldn’t topple and tumble down the road (one of my worst fears). Any kind of assistance in that situation is heaven-sent.
It started raining while we were on her test drive, and i totally went, “Oooo…” when the wipers suddenly went on by itself.
“It’s got auto headlamp and auto rain sensors,” i explained.
“Ohhhh”
I observed its rhythm with that of the rain, and it’s pretty effective, i must say! Didn’t have to touch a single thing too.
A safety feature i appreciate when driving in the rain, is the Electronic Stability Control – a high-tech system to automatically deploys mechanisms to keep you safely on-course lest you skid. I got into an accident once after a heavy storm and totalled the car. Those few seconds when i had total loss of control were so scary i’ve tried to erase it from memory.
I would always WISH i could send balloon bouquets to friends for their birthdays/anniversaries/etc; and got the team to push off the project!
If you want to send a friend/crush/family member/lover surprise balloons on Valentine’s Day, check out *our selection here*. Prices range from RM49-169
I went for a champagne brunch at The Bee last weekend! They’re only having it every Sunday in the month of February so Melissa and i went to take advantage of it. Only rm90 pp. I had the caramelized french toast with strawberries and bananas.
Just looking at the pic is killing me while on my detox (i’m back on my bi-annual detox at Pure Health)
Why do i do this to myself.
Moving on!
After the brunch, we dropped by BANJIR: An exhibition by Ridduan TTFGA Ismail. It was a very nicely set up photo exhibition showing off a moving series of pictures Ridduan took during the recent floods. Please do more stuff like this – KL needs it!
I’m not difficult to spot am i. I seemed to have missed the memo about wearing all black XD
It was a Saturday! I never wear black on weekends! (almost.)
On left is a day i DID wear black for a dinner hosted by Airbnb one weekday night.
Black dress with lace sleeves from Love Bonito.
On right i’m wearing a top i got tailor-made cos i liked the fabric so much. I made a few extra to sell on KinkyBlueFairy but haven’t photographed it yet. Email if you’re interested la.
On left is one of the best non-Asian breakfasts i’ve had in a while! I’m not a fan of heavy American breakfasts as my first meal… i’d much rather go for a curry laksa or nasi lemak if i’m feeling naughty. Otherwise it’d be juice, fruits and oats mixed with yoghurt. This was their house salad of quinoa, pearl barley, roasted cherry tomatoes, avocado, homemade furikake + miso dressing, and free range egg. I wish they’d deliver this to PJ. Puh-lease??
On right is my first juice mix this time round. I’m so glad i’m doing this detox cos just seeing all the sh*t coming outta me is so satisfying. You can read WHY i do it *here*.
I always get asked by guys what they should get their ladies for birthdays, anniversaries, Valentine’s, etc. One thing you can never go wrong with, is jewellery.
Diamonds are forever, and gold never gets old.
Gold has been passed down for generations in my family. Some of the more precious pieces are kept in a safety deposit box, and the ones that i dare to wear will never be worn to a crazy party. Never. It’s too precious to lose! The only piece from my grandmother which i wear out on a daily basis is an engraved gold bangle.
The thing about gold is that its value just increases as time goes by. So when i buy gold, i know that it’s an investment, not something that yields no returns in its acquirement.
Because it’s such a classic metal, gold goes with everything, along with an aura of accomplishment. It draws out a strong sense of individuality, as each wearer styles it according to their personal sense of self-expression.
A beautiful series of gold collections i got to play with recently are the Love and Classic collections from Tranz®, the first designer gold jewellery in 22K gold. Tranz® has four collections in total based on the themes of Nature, Classic, Love, and Duet.
Photographer Jewel Ling (whom i found on Instagram) and i collaborated to shoot a series of pictures! Hope you enjoy looking at them, we’re planning to shoot together more!
I’m wearing a set from the Tranz Love Collection. Made of 22k (916) yellow gold, it is inspired by the intricate details of a honeycomb, think the sweetness and purity of love!
The Tranz Love Collection comprises of a pendant, ring, bracelet and earrings.
Embroidered corset top from Love Bonito; skirt from Jonathan Liang x Dude & the Duchess.

Other pieces from the Tranz Love Collection are these pair of earrings and ring, both made of 22k Yellow Gold with Black Plated Gold.
Each piece has been twisted and twirled into a heart shape that’s subtle and unique.
Sunglasses from Mouet, necklace from Shoes Shoes Shoes, sequinned top from Love Bonito, silk pants from Galliano, shoes from Zara.

In this series of pictures, i’m wearing a 22K Yellow Gold Pendant and Yellow Gold Ring from the Tranz Classic Collection.
Just as the universe is ruled by order and beauty, so too are the elegant circular shapes found in the jewellery outlining the essence of classic beauty.
The 22K Classic Collection Yellow Gold Ring
Out of all the pieces, THIS was my favourite. I didn’t want to take it off when i was styling the outfits at home, it made me feel glamourous and i feel it can go with anything i wear, my swimsuit included (i tried).
The Tranz Collections are available at Poh Kong, Poh Kong Gallery, Diamond & Gold, and Gold Boutique.
