House of Eight @ Publika

Comments (0) Fashion

A few weeks ago, i saw a photo of these gorgeous gold flats posted on the @houseof_eight Instagram. There was only one pair left – Size 37 (my size!). Whenever there are a pair of shoes i’ve fallen in lust with, and the last pair is in my size; i take that as a sign from God/the Universe. I went over to their showroom for the first time ever, got lost, asked for directions twice, and finally paid off my prowling efforts…

Flashy flats for RM100.

Started by Natrah and Mem, House of Eight is a boutique, online store and image consultant. Natrah edited/made all these necklaces by her hand! If you have a piece from them, at least you know nobody else is gonna have the exact same necklace since she made it. Necklaces are RM108-118 (the ones i saw and liked!)

Today, i was surfing Instagram while having my hair done when i saw yet another item i wanted to check out there… *this studded black backpack.*

After Alex @ The Met finished off my new hairstyle, i immediately drove to Publika, despite not having lunch at 3pm yet. Fashion overrides hunger anytime baybeh. (Luckily i had had breakfast.)

With Mem & Natrah

Dr Sebagh Platinum Gold Elixir

Comments (1) Spa + Beauty

I was invited to Lafite for an exclusive lunch and preview of Dr Sebagh‘s latest offering in advanced anti-ageing skincare – the Platinum Gold Elixir. Formulated by Dr Jean-Louis Sebagh, he is the cosmetic surgeon behind the Dr Sebagh Advanced Anti-ageing Skin Care range, and has celebrities like Elle Macpherson and Cindy Crawford swearing by his products.

Dr Sebagh is known to provide powerful serums that deliver maximum effect to the skin, especially for those who feel their skin needs an extra boost or revival of sorts. This new serum is advised to work the same way – not something you apply every day of the year, but for a month or less when you feel you need it.

“Dr Sebagh’s Platinum Gold Elixir is a luxurious, opulent super serum that harnesses the latest nano-technology and includes 24K Gold and Platinum to achieve the same tightening, firming and lifting effect as the celebrated gold thread lifting technique known as the Nefertiti Lift (named after the beautiful 2nd century BC Egyptian Queen).

The serum contains 13 key active ingredients as well as:
– a powerful Botox-like effect complex to reduce and prevent the appearance of expression lines
– a potent hyaluronic acid complex to intensively hydrate and plump the skin
– carefully selected cutting edge anti-ageing peptides to protect and regenerate the skin’s collagen fibres, improving its firmness and elasticity
– a genuine iridescent gold pigment that softly reflects light as it touches the skin, giving radiance and luminosity to the complexion

BBQ @ Mattrena’s /// Halloween @ Mezza9

Comments (2) Family, Party

I had a great weekend with some nice pix! Well. It WAS a 3-day weekend – which is ALWAYS A GREAT THING. I wish every weekend started on Friday!

Matt & Serena organized a BBQ on Friday. We ate, swam, drank, ate, swam, drank, ate, swam, drank. From noon till 8pm. Pei.

Heleau took this nice pic of us lazing in the pool. Serena’s floaties match mah spinner!

Matt played a game – Let’s Throw Joshua as High as Possible Without His Parents Around. He was training Joshua to be a man, “Are you strong enough? Want some more?” I swear it’s the French way of instilling bravery into children. They push and push the kids to test their physical abilities, which i think is a good concept. Till someone gets hurt. (But noone got hurt that day! This is in case their parents are reading haha.)

Serena and i discovered that floaties make good seats. My pink head bow is from Thimble. A few people wondered how it could stay up like that all day, that’s because it’s got wires sewn into the insides 🙂

On Sat i dressed up in my new Halloween costume for Sarah Lian’s Halloween partay at Mezza9.

I am so distracted by Sarah’s thighs. Hotdamn.

Anyway, i got my costume sponsored by this American website called Yandy.com. At first i wasn’t keen to get one from them cos the costumes are more sexy than the funny ones i usually don, but THEN i saw they have animal costumes too, and found this crazy monster one! When i first tried it on, it fit PERFECTLY. I must say i was quite surprised, a costume to me will just represent what it’s supposed to, and i don’t expect it to make me look good. But the outfit curved amazingly with my body and was really comfortable to jump around in all night! I would so wear this again. Or let Yandy sponsor me another one. Heehee. Also… it’s altered my mindset about costumes… i’d rather wear a costume that makes me look hot than like a child all the time XD

Before a bunch of us headed to Mezza9, we met at Clem’s and mine to have grub and booze.

Girls just wanna have lunch

Comments (0) Food

Cho Wei and i had lunch together last week. It’s like we meet up every year to catch up in a shot, so i’m trying to put a stop to that and see him more often. He really wanted Thai food. And some friends suggested My Elephant in Hartamas since we both haven’t tried it before. It was very disappointing and i’m never going back! Hence no pix of their food here.

But. NEXT to My Elephant is Fru-t-pop, a cheerful cafe we went into for some post-lunch coffee.

They make 100% fruit lollies with no colouring or flavouring, so it’s really healthy stuff.

I got a starfruit + mango + pineapple one

Had a nice chat with Ralph, who told us he and his wife run the place – which also stocks frutpops for schools, and caters to community events and parties. I like how personal the cafe is, with pictures of their children eating frutpops hanging on the wall.

For a rush lunch before catching a movie with Kevin at Paradigm Mall one day, we popped into Sushi Zanmai for some cheap fail-proof sushi.

Golden Island Cottages @ Inle Lake, Myanmar

Comments (4) Inle Lake, Myanmar, Travel

I think if i make myself blog in sequence about all my trips i may not finish it… so i’m taking a different approach by posting about my favourite places so at least the best ones go up! I changed the header of my blog recently to the one you see now, which was taken at Inle Lake – one of the most beautiful places i’ve been to in the world. I really can’t NOT blog about it cos it’s one of Clem’s and my favourite places we’ve been to…

We chose Golden Island Cottages after reading about it in the Lonely Planet, and it sounded a lot nicer than a normal guesthouse. Plus it was USD60/night – not at all expensive! To get there is a really long journey though. Then again, i think getting to a really special place requires more determination… if it were so easy then everyone would be going there!

If you were to get there from KL, you’d have to take a flight from KL-Yangon. Then you have to take a flight from Yangon-Heho. From Heho airport, you need to take an hour plus car ride to reach the side of the lake, then an hour plus boat ride further down the lake. It was all worth it. Completely. The pictures will show you why later!

On the way to the lakeside, we stopped at a wooden monastery to have a visit.

We were allowed to take pictures of the child monks praying as long as we didn’t make any noise.
