This week has been a whirlwind of zooming from place to place. I went for so many events, more than i’m bothered to list down here; wrote blogposts, did client work, worked on some copy for a project, visited Aps cos she’s recuperating from an operation, and two other major occasions took place too!
The first is my mom’s birthday, which falls on March 28th. She turns 59 this year. ๐
And now, it’s Cameron’s birthday too! He was born on Thursday morning!!! I was SO tired on Wednesday night that i didn’t read any messages after midnight, and had missed a slew of excited messages on how Cammy was going to the hospital at 2am and the baby was going to be born soon! By the time i read it when i woke up, the baby was born already ย -_-
But still, i pored over the pictures Kenny sent from the delivery room, with baby Cameron still with blood all over him in Cammy’s arms. I totally cried with happiness just LOOKING at the pictures, and wondered if i should wear waterproof make up when i go see them.
I braved the evening traffic to pop by Gleneagles Hospital before a media preview i had to attend in KLCC at 8pm. (Thanks to Waze for saving my life. I don’t know what i’d do without Waze now.)
Say hello to Cameron!!!!!!!!
He was sleeping soundly (babies sleep 23 out of 24 hours when they’re born) and i didn’t wanna wake him. He was cutely spurting saliva out for a few seconds but i reckoned he could still breathe through his nose? Crap, it’s not even my baby and i’m panicking already! I can understand why new mothers constantly check on their babies in the middle of the night to see if they’re breathing! They’re so small and tiny and precious!
I have never seen a day-old baby up close before… and marveled at how perfectly smooth his skin is, and his tiny tiny nose and eyes. I peered so close that i even held my breath lest *that* wake him. I was like, “Wow… this THING was MADE in CAMMY’S TUMMY!” How amazing life is…
I asked Kenny to take a picture of us, and didn’t bother checking it cos i didn’t see how hard it could be.
My first picture with Cameron… and you can’t even see his face. Thanks Kenny ย -_-
Btw, everyone is saying how the baby looks JUST LIKE KENNY, and i said to Cammy, “Everyone saying look like Kenny, but YOU MADE HIM.”
She was like, “Yeah. I did all the hard work but Kenny gets all the credit -_-”
I can imagine Kenny saying to me, “I DID do the hard work! I had to swim hard.”

Besides the exciting birth of Cameron and my mom’s birthday, another EXCITING incident was me visiting Toys R Us today! I make it a point to check the toystore every couple of months, just to see if any new My Little Pony designs come in. I happened to be outside a Toys R Us after going for the I Eat KL launch, and despite having to run to the supermarket to buy groceries, rush home to tidy and cook dinner before Clem is coming home after being away for work since Monday; i bounced inside to take a QUICK LOOK.
They have some new rockstar ponies. But they’re the same miniature size as dozens from the big box i bought some time back, so i don’t think i should have THAT many tiny ponies… trying to be good. I was thinking, if they mass-produced fashion ponies in different designer outfits, i’d probably BUY THE LOT. x2 even.
This new toy called Lalaloopsy is in store… but the button eyes on the doll remind me too much of Coraline and freak me out a little. I’d imagine the button-eyed doll chasing after me with a needle and thread to sew buttons in my eyes’ place so i’ll become a doll forever. Okay that didn’t sound so scary when i typed it down but i swear, YOU try watching Coraline and tell me if it scared you or not.
LV’s prefall media preview was held on the penthouse floor of one of the many menara buildings in KL city. A few minimalist rooms were filled up with countless Louis Vuitton pieces from their latest and past collections, and presented ala an art exhibition. If you’re an LV-lover, it would have been your mini Disneyland come true.

The prefall 2013 collection carries on the silhouettes from its previous SS collection, and are inspired by the 19th Century yet carefully crafted to be completely modernized. You’ll notice a lot of lace elements – whether in trompe-l’ลil print, on jacquard or tweed. Other luxurious details like samplings of mink, rhinestone studs, velvet ribbon and feathers are reminiscent of the refinement embraced in the late nineteenth century.

#3 –ย These shoes are so sick!
#4 – Popping bright cabin bags! They’re pretty heavy tho. I reckon a manslave is necessary to lift them for you.
I was thinking how wasted it is that i blog so much about stuff going on in KL, but i never seem to catch up with my travel posts. A backpacker i made friends with in Myanmar recently emailed me cos she was going to Sri Lanka, and i shared with her the list of places we went to cos backpackers aren’t the type to buy a Lonely Planet (like we did) seeing they’re visiting so many countries. ย So i thought… i should share the whole list of places Clem and i went here, seeing i may not actually get to blogging about my entire trip >.< And if you do go to Sri Lanka (which i think you should, cos it’s so darn beautiful) then you can refer to our list in case.
THANK GOD I LABELED all my photo folders upon returning… looking back at the names of places now, i don’t remember half of them.
Then we went to:
– Ramboda Falls
– Labookellie Tea Factory (can you blame me for forgetting the names!?)
– went hiking at Nuwara Eliya and stayed at Single Tree Hill at Pedro Estate
– took a train from Nuwara Eliya to Ella and Rawana Falls
– visited tempes >ย Wellawaya – Buduruwagala; Dikwella – Wewurukannala Vihara; Matara – Weherahena
– stayed at Mirissa beach
– stayed in Unawatuna, and pottered around the charming city of Galle
– went thru Hikkaduwa (but don’t go here, it’s terribly dirty)
For a blogpost i wrote about WHILE in Sri Lanka, you can *read this*. It was written while we were in Mirissa, and i love that place so i thought i’d post pictures up from there today!
Mirissa is an idyllic beach area that is in the South of Sri Lanka. It’s pretty under-developed, which is what makes it so beautiful, with nothing listed down to do in our trusty guidebook because that’s what you go there for – to do nothing! It was great cos we were hiking and moving around a lot since the beginning of our trip, so Mirissa was where we could take a little break and not sight see for a bit.
We were the only ones on the whole beach!
So freaking surreal and awesome.
It’s as if the world belonged to only us.
For just that little while.
I was a metal braces wearer a lot later than most people my age. I only started wearing them when i started my first job. Not only did i have to wear braces, but a head brace ala Katy Perry’s Last Friday Night vid. It was so atrocious that when i once closed the house gate for my father to go to work, he jested that i should hurry back into the house lest i scare the neighbours. -_-
Braces back then were torturous as any 80s kid will tell you. The metal spikes dig into the sides of your mouth, causing ulcers that bleed. The worse is when the metal continues digging into the ulcer itself, and there’s nothing you can do but… not move your mouth to avoid further pain.
Every time i tightened the braces i’d have to survive on a liquid diet cos my teeth and gums were too painful to bite into anything. That wasn’t so bad for me, cos i was covering events back then and didn’t mind having an excuse to drink ‘more wine because that’s my dinner’.
Alas, after years of diligence and pain, i did the stupid thing every braces-wearer should never do – which is to neglect wearing your retainer.
What made it worse is that i’m a teeth grinder. I didn’t know it was so bad till Clem patted my cheek in the middle of one night, and said, “Baby… stop it… it sounds really scary!” I never realized grinding my teeth produced a high-pitched shrieking sound of banshee proportions.
Some time two years ago, i realised that thanks to my dumbass negligence, my teeth had moved again and my front teeth stuck out in pictures, which made me quite self-conscious. SO MUCH FOR WEARING BRACES BEFORE! *bangs head on table*
I was on the lookout for a solution that didn’t require me wearing those hated braces again. I took note of a documentary i watched — on theatre child stars — where one had some sort of braces afixed from the INSIDE of her mouth, with pressure applied from a metal screw that was bolted into the roof of her mouth. Seemed kinda hardcore. And there were no dentists i knew of that did that in KL anyway.
Then Invisalign came into town and i noticed a few people starting on it. Invisalign are ‘invisible braces’ that promise not to be obvious, not to be inconvenient, etc. And i toyed with the idea of getting it in my mind. Mostly to do with the money too. I already spent thousands (when i was young and earned a basic salary) paying for my metal mouth, did i want to pay more for something that i shouldn’t be paying for because i stupidly hated my retainer?? Ugh.
In the end, i got a semi-sponsorship and decided to go for it and put the money down to ‘investment in health’. I just feel that teeth are so important to me… and i don’t want to have my bite get worse and worse as i get older, then end up dishing out even MORE money for it later on in life!
Okay, and also, i’m vain and i’d like my teeth to be straight again, thanks.
I started going to MyDentist on Jalan Ipoh, and it’s really easy for me to get to from the Penchala Link heading towards Jalan Kuching. No traffic lights, and no parking problem cos they have allocated spots in front of their dentistry for clients. I go there pretty often cos i have to change the mold for my Invisalign every 2 weeks to a month, so that it gradually shifts all my teeth to perfect alignment.
I am in love with the dentists there. Dr Melissa, Dr Alex and Dr Kar Shen were the main dentists that took turns attending to me every time i went, and i love talking to them! I always chatted and joked with them, and they made me feel extremely comfortable.
When i had my teeth polished a few months ago, i accidentally jerked and (i think it was) Alex (who) asked me, “Oh! Was it painful? Are you okay?” Truth was, i was so at ease that i FELL ASLEEP hence the sudden jerk. :p
I used to think i’m paying these dentists too much money to work on me, but now i feel that it’s all justified. They take such CARE and detail in their work that i feel they’re making my teeth into a perfect work of art. All these THINGS have been done to my teeth to perfect my bite, which i never thought of before. It’s not just the braces that moved my teeth back gradually, but they’d measure and take photographs, and get me to bite on some paper to see whether the teeth touch, and delicately shave different teeth down so that they’re all the same shape and size… It’s really awesome to know that i made a wise choice in going to this dentist. I foresee myself going to them years from now cos i just love them so much for what they did! (Thank you! If you ever read this :p)
This has turned out to be a long post about loving my dentists -_- I really just wanted to post about how STRAIGHT MY TEETH ARE NOW!
I love this shirt dress from Naked Kimchiย – it’s really light, airy and comfy!ย Naked Kimchiย is a Korean shopping website which has sent me some clothes and shoes i picked, and so far the items are so satisfying in person. Their things are not that expensive, and the quality is really good!
