The trick is to pretend

Comments (5) Dailydress, Fashion

I fell sick on Tuesday and have been self-medicating my flu + fever.
Blaming the move over the weekend and the horrible hot+stormy weather we’ve been experiencing.
I know a handful of people who are more or equally sick!
But i think i’ve got it good since the last time i was sick was a viral fever in 2009…

Wish i could just stay home and do nothing but watch DVDs and eat my Hong Kee porridge,
but i have unavoidable work deadlines, and other meetings which i might as well try to keep if i’m going to pretend i’m not sick.

Wore as COLOURFUL as i possibly could to brighten up my soul!

Leftblock floral shorts

These floral shorts are actually a side result of the new designs that Chelle and i have been working on for Leftblock‘s new collection.
I say ‘side result’ cos we end up being greedy and making extra clothes for ourselves that we don’t feel makes the cut for the proper collection.
Still, there’s no harm in offering it to people who like it and want to buy it.

These shorts are custom made-to-order
so you can send me your measurements and we’ll make them for you.
Soft material that doesn’t really need ironing (WE HATE IRONING!) and feels like a short skirt without the skankiness, because it’s well, shorts.
Perfect for our hot weather.
RM100 minus postage.

Topshop has named me one of their favourite bloggers in Malaysia.
How freaking awesome is that!
I love Topshop, and they love me!   :xlaughing:

MGMT @ Bukit Kiara, KL

Comments (7) Party

I’ve listened to their first album more than 200 times from beginning to end
I’ve memorized every beat and twang in all their songs
I’ve dozed off to their psychedelic melodies and had dreams of flying in space
I really love MGMT
Even though i’ve heard that they’re not great live,
i still wanted to go because:
1) not enough concerts happen in KL
2) i really do love them even if they’re gonna disappoint me live
I even bought tickets for myself and Clem on the FIRST DAY THEY WERE OUT,
not wanting to assume that i might get free ones later on.
I just didn’t wanna risk it!

One thing i didn’t expect was the absence of alcohol at the event arena.
The last time there was a concert where there was no alco was at Zee Avi @ KL Live… and that i understand since she has a predominantly Muslim audience here.
But MGMT… *speechless*
It made me almost wish i didn’t bother buying my ticket.
What kind of concert doesn’t sell beer?
They say there were underaged kids there… ever thought of doing an ID check like they do in the UK?
Geez.
If you ever denied adults alcohol at a music event overseas, i think there would be a riot.
At least TELL people on Twitter before the concert la!

Luckily my past alcoholic sixth sense kicked in a bit that night,
and i had drinks at home and outside before going in.
BUT STILL.
People who love music and beer like i do will GET ME.
I kept apologizing to non-Malaysian friends i bumped into at the concert,
going, “I’m SO SORRY we don’t have alcohol at this concert -_-“
Like why am i even apologising when it’s not MY concert?
Cos i’m embarrassed that’s why!

In the end, Sa saved the night by getting her driver to buy beer.
So we all skipped out halfway to down our cans

I attempted to smuggle one back in my skirt but the others said i looked very wrong.

Small people unite! Aps, SueLynn + me

I get what people mean now when they say MGMT is boring live.
They play good live, but the thing is their music is the sort of thing i listen to when i’m lying down on my bed zoning out,
not something you’d party to.
Still, just getting out for an occasion to drink (smuggled beer), talk rubbish with friends and layan a bit was fun.
I was complaining like crazy that night,
but at the end of it, i thought,
jeez, people are suffering all over the world and i want to whine about a concert?
I should just SUCK IT.

We went to Backyard after that to have  few pints before calling it a night.
I really felt like going out to play in Barsonic,
but Clem didn’t feel like it, and i felt bad (bla bla bla)
and we had to continue moving house so i decided not to.

me + Sa. Looking at her you won’t believe her age.
Really, in my mind she’s not really her age.
And well, i can’t write her age here, she might just unfriend me.

We’re moving today!

Comments (8) Food

Gonna be shifting to a bigger apartment (though anything is bigger than what we’re living in right now)
which will be nearer to Clem’s work.
I love the area that we’re currently living in…
but i think it’s damn ex for the amount of space in return.

The thing i’ll be most sorry to be further from,
is our fave Japanese restaurant.
I admit that i never blogged about it before because i just didn’t want people to know that i go there :p
But since we’re moving, i won’t be spending so much time there haha.

I love Rakuzen
I love that the air con is so cold,
beer is cheap,
food is fantastic,
and prices aren’t astronomical.

And no matter how many times i convince myself that i’ll order something else,
i end up being a loyalist and returning to my beloved grilled cod in salt:

rakuzen kl

It’s the freaking best grilled cod i’ve had in KL!
Soft, smooth, silky flesh… with cripsy salty skin….

Even the rice there makes me happy   :xwhatevah: :xlaughing:

I foresee future outings to Rakuzen just because i’ll miss it so!
But i will be positive and hope for another restaurant in our new neighbourhood that will live up to my jap food obsession…

Where’s your favourite Jap restaurant in KL?
(Another one i love is Hanazen in Jaya One.)

Acqua for Life

giorgio armani acqua for life

Giorgio Armani will be running the Acqua for Life campaign,
where for every Giorgio Armani fragrance you buy translates to 100 litres of drinking water for rural populations, starting with Ghana.

giorgio armani acqua for life

Even if you don’t buy the fragrance, join the Facebook community facebook.com/acquaforlife to ‘give’ away more litres of water.

As for the code, you can see the area where you’re supposed to scratch it out at back of box:

giorgio armani acqua for life

Acqua di Gioia, EDP spray 100ml, RM310
With hints of crushed mint, Italian limone primo fiore femminelle, cedar, brown sugar and labdanum

I’m very fussy about fragrances and generally tend to stick to a few that i adore,
and i didn’t really like this one when i first smelt it.
But it’s really different after it’s set on the skin… very sultry and sexy.
Reminds me of lush hotels and beaches… somehow!

I was going to give it away but i’m going to keep it for myself now.
Can’t stop smelling my own arm (i sprayed it there for testing!)
