NEW BlackBerry Torch 9860 // BlackBerry Torch 9810 // BlackBerry Bold 9900 // BlackBerry Curve 9360 in Malaysia

Comments (2) tech

Crazy right the title.
I had to read the press releases to MAKE SURE i didn’t get the numbers wrong!
BlackBerry is frikkin insane for launching so many models at the same time.
There’s going to be a frenzy.

All these new models will be available in Malaysia via majar carriers from 15th September onwards.
What makes them all the more better is that they’re all operating on BlackBerry 7.

And what makes BlackBerry 7 so significant is:
– browsing results are 40% faster than BlackBerry 6 smartphones
– optimized zooming and panning for smoother web navigation
– optimized HTML5 performance for sharper gaming and vid experiences
– includes a number of other pre-loaded applications and integrated functionality
– The Premium version of Documents To Go is included – document editing features
– BlackBerry® Protect is pre-loaded*, so personal data can be backed up, users can locate their misplaced BlackBerry smartphone using GPS or remotely turn up the ringer for an audible notification if their handset is close-by.
– BlackBerry® Balance is integrated in BlackBerry 7, allowing users to enjoy the full BlackBerry smartphone experience for both work and personal purposes without compromising the IT department’s need for advanced security and IT controls. The popular universal search capability has also been enhanced with support for voice-activated search, so users can now simply speak to begin searching their device and the web for information.

First of all, i’m gonna admit that i missed out on taking a picture of the BlackBerry Bold 9900.
Jezmine tweeted me to take a pic of it and i left already cos i didn’t want to miss my yoga class
plus everyone was crowding around the phones (damn so many tech and lifestyle bloggers/media :p)

Still, i really wanted to attend the event and HOLD ALL the phones in my hands so i personally know which is what!
Just forgot about the Bold 9900 sorry!
Here, look at the pix and specs *HERE*

To be truthful, i managed to view the phones by harrassing Ben from BlackBerry SG.
He was chilling outside,
i got a bit claustrophobic with so many people wanting to look at the phones exhibited
so i went outside to kacau him.
And he had most of the models on him :xlaughing:

The first one i wanted to take a picture of was the BlackBerry Torch 9810:

cbbkl_3

This is larger than life cos i just put my hand up to my screen and my fingers are really small in real life!
I first noticed this sexy Torch when Ben was carrying it at the PlayBook launch.
It’s metallic, slim and really classy… plus i somehow like that it’s a slide phone.
Almost stole it from him when drunk.

“The BlackBerry Torch 9810 is a powerful evolution of the BlackBerry Torch 9800.
The new smartphone is faster and more fluid with high performance hardware features and the new BlackBerry 7 OS delivering an enhanced multimedia experience.
Featuring a large 3.2”-high resolution touch display and a distinctive BlackBerry keyboard that easily slides out to allow fast typing, the BlackBerry Torch 9810 truly delivers the best of both worlds.”

//////////////

For those who prefer something that wholly touch screen,
there’s the new BlackBerry Torch 9860:

cbbkl_2

“The BlackBerry Torch 9860 smartphone offers a fast and fluid performance in a stylish new all-touch design.
With a spectacular new 3.7” display, the largest ever on a BlackBerry smartphone, the new all-touch BlackBerry Torch 9860 smartphone is optimized for high-quality multimedia, web browsing and gaming.
In addition, as would be expected, the Torch 9860 also delivers an outstanding real-time communication and collaboration experience that is loved by millions of BlackBerry smartphone users around the world.”

//////////////

Besides launching 2 new Torches and 1 Bold,
BlackBerry also launched the new Curve 9360
(release date TBC)

cbbkl_5

This Curve is reputedly the SLIMMEST BlackBerry phone out there…
Seriously, it’s SO SMALL.
And MY HANDS are small!
After the new slide Torch, this is a close second favourite of mine…
it’s so perfect for girls.

cbbkl_4

“The new BlackBerry Curve smartphones have:
– ergonomically designed with a comfortable and iconic keyboard for fast, accurate typing and an optical trackpad for easy, one-handed navigation
– GPS and Wi-Fi® support
– 5MP camera with flash and video recording
– microSD/SDHC slot supports up to 32 GB memory cards”

Clem: Me too. But we should GO HOME.

Sigh.
The tribulations of being an adult where you cannot function 100% the next day if you overdo it.

Laos Day 4: Tubing in Vang Vieng

Comments (2) Laos, Travel, Vang Vieng

This is gonna be my ultimate blogpost on Laos.
I’m so proud of myself for finishing a series all proper.
Doesn’t happen often hah.

Previous posts before this:

* Laos Day 2: Vang Vieng *
* Laos Day 3: Vang Vieng Organic Farm & Waterfall *

We SAVED tubing to do on our last day in Vang Vieng.
It’s supposed to be one of the main attractions in VV,
and i thought it so sweet Steph saved it to do with us too (she was there with Nick a month prior).

So TUBING.
We were a bit scared, thanks to watching horror youtube vids of kids smashing their heads open while swinging on ropes and banging their skulls on the side of a pier.
People have actually died while tubing.
I also remembered my aunt G telling me how she saw two girls getting caught in strong currents and screaming for locals to save them.

Soooo we told ourselves that we’re NOT gonna fuck around and we’ll watch out for each other!

a-tubing-in-vang-vieng_18

There’s only one place to rent tubes in VV

a-tubing-in-vang-vieng_17

Steph and i
Before you start tubing, they take you and your tubes on a boat to the main ‘starting point’ which is (naturally) a bar.

a-tubing-in-vang-vieng_19

Numbers and Laotian characters are written on us to account for our tubes.

We sat at the ‘starting point’ bar for a bit,
chilling (gathering courage) and talking to some backpackers who were working there.
As is customary tubing tradition, we were given free shots of local whiskey.
At least the bars there have a system, for every free shot they give you, white string is tied around your ankles/wrists to mark how many you’ve had
(so if you’ve got HEAPS, they know it’s time to stop giving you any more drinks lest you drown yourself -_-)

Seeing we wanted to be ALIVE and not mati lemas,
we paced ourselves cos we knew we’d be tubing all afternoon.

a-tubing-in-vang-vieng_2

Seriously. This view. Is just proof of why tubing in Vang Vieng is so legendary.
We were really lucky that the currents weren’t as strong as some horror stories we heard/saw on youtube,
and it was wonderful that there was no crowd seeing it was non-peak season (June).

‘Twas surreal to just chill on the tube,
listen to the water gently rushing,
feel the sunshine on my arms and legs and face,
and watch nature’s hills jutting out of the skyline next and in front of me.

a-tubing-in-vang-vieng_1

[mengada pose]

a-tubing-in-vang-vieng_7

There are scores of bars next to the river just for tubers to stop by.
Most of the guys working there will be calling and waving for you to stop,
so all we had to do was yell and decide with each other that we’d take a break,
and give them a wave and yell back.

The bar guys would then throw thin rope (the kind that hurts your hands :p) for you to grab on to while they pull you onto the bar steps.

a-tubing-in-vang-vieng_12

Lots of dogs to pet and spoil.
Steph and Jess spent ages calling the dogs … -_-

I found it hilarious that the first menu they gave us was this:

a-tubing-in-vang-vieng_13

Us girls stared at it wondering… don’t they serve alcohol?!
Called the waiter back and he got us strong cocktails served in buckets.

a-tubing-in-vang-vieng_11

I made friends with one of the Pail People

a-tubing-in-vang-vieng_10

Hugging sunshine: Tianna shows how it’s done.

a-tubing-in-vang-vieng_5

Another bar we stopped by that afternoon (i lost count, and also half the afternoon was admittedly hazy in my memory)

a-tubing-in-vang-vieng_4

a-tubing-in-vang-vieng_3

More killer bucket cocktails.
Steph getting worked up about something she’s talking about.
I don’t remember anything (that’s why i took videos but erm shouldn’t put them up).

a-tubing-in-vang-vieng_9

More tubing!
At this point i was getting dangerously comfortable with my camera on the river.
Am amazed i didn’t drop it in the water :p *HUGS CAMERA*

WooHOO LAOS!

Yay i’m done with Laos posts!
But not done with Laos.
I would so go back.

Oxoloco – semi-precious jewelry KL

Comments (5) Fashion

I don’t usually focus on just one blogshop/designer anymore
but this is too good to keep to myself.

///////////

Last night was Kenny’s birthday celebration no. 2 at Zeta bar.
I was so UP FOR IT i suggested we all after party.
Clem said, no… you’re going to regret it tomorrow TRUST ME.
So we bought McD’s, went home and slept at 4:30am.

Next morning i had to wake up at 11am for a shoot with Undilah
and went there feeling tired and hungover and damn Clem was right

I was supposed to pick a piece of jewelry to go with my outfit
and watched Lisa (whom i’d just met for the first time) take pieces out of her bag.

a-oxoloco_8

At first i wasn’t too taken but THEN i noticed some stones were really unique!
I mean, i learnt a lot of types of semi-precious stones when Ash was working on them,
but there were deep hues and stone depths i wasn’t familiar with today.

a-oxoloco_7

I love the dark blue agate above, it makes me think of deeeeeep sea.
On the left is fluorite, bottom right are pearls.

a-oxoloco_6

Mosaic Turquoise

Faceted Glass beads are sparkly and tempting

a-oxoloco_10

I LOVED the colour of these Faceted Iridescent Crystals, natural disco balls!
Now that i’m looking at the picture again i feel like emailing Lisa to save it for me -_-

a-oxoloco_1

These colourful Faceted Mixed Agate beads were really pretty (so much nicer in real life!) strung together. Bought this one for rm130. I foresee myself playing with it when i’m distracted in a meeting.

a-oxoloco_5

a-oxoloco_9

And then i died for this crystal necklace.
It’s so shinyyyyyyyy *plays with it*
and felt like a metallic scarf on my neck *love*
I bought it for rm399.

a-oxoloco_4

Checkout my hungover smile :p
Next to me is Lisa, the talented tiny artist behind Oxoloco.
You can check out her website *here* but it’s nothing compared to seeing everything in front of you.

Seminyak, Bali – Johnny Ramli // Mades Warung // Amor Villa

Comments (3) Bali, Travel

After leaving the central Bali area of Candikuning,
Clem and i drove South all the way back to Seminyak.
I wheedled him to find Johnny Ramli’s shop called WRKSHP13
cos i really wanted to buy myself a necklace from there.
Ever since i saw Jess constantly wearing her Johnny Ramli piece,
i’ve been itching to see what other silver necklaces he has.

‘Twas not an easy feat finding the shop,
the area was jammed and numbers didn’t seem to follow in order along the road!
Was about to give up and asked someone for directions when…
they pointed next door and said THERE!
How lucky!

cclembali_82

There are clothes and leather bags and clutches but i was more interested in the long silver necklaces.
Couldn’t take pictures of them all but they were nice enough to let me pick two to photograph.

cclembali_81

All the necklaces are handcrafted from silver bits and pieces.
I think lots of them would look great on fashionably adventurous guys.
Priced from RM300-RM550

Since we arrived in town late, we simply booked ourselves into a cheap guesthouse to spend one night in before moving into the villa next day

cclembali_85

A few years ago, Kuta would never be as jammed as this,
it’s crazy!
Cars and vehicles were at a standstill
cos road was too narrow for everyone to move along.

Next morning i’d planned everything we had to do to a T (internet cafe, breakfast, check out guesthouse, pick up Bali Aqua) so we could check in Amor Villa early and spend all day there!

cclembali_86

Entrance to lobby

cclembali_87

We dropped our bags, put our supplies in the fridge and ran for lunch at Mades Warung.
Everytime i’m in Bali i try to eat at Mades Warung cos their nasi campur is OUTTA THIS WORLD.

cclembali_83

Anyone you go with will be happy there cos there’s a great selection of Indonesian, Japanese, and Western food and desserts.

cclembali_84

Mades Warung nasi campur special = legend.

Whole time we were eating lunch,
Clem and i were like ‘CAN’T WAIT TO GO BACK TO VILLA’

More villa pix to come in this post.
I gotta go to work now -_-

Amor Villa pix!

cclembali_88

I’m standing in the living area as i take this.
Swimming pool in front of bedroom,
dining table outside.

cclembali_89

Massive living room we used just to eat dinner at.
High (really high -_- like non-small people friendly high) bar area with fridge.

It is imperative cloths be tied around glass panes like so.
They’re a dangerous design feature for clumsy people like me.

cclembali_90

One side of the huge bathroom.
The red tiles freaked me out a little tho.
When you shower the water looks like pools of blood.
Or i’ve been watching way too much Dexter.

cclembali_93

cclembali_94

cclembali_91

It’s kite season during the month of July.
For the Gods so that crops will prosper.

cclembali_92

The best thing about having a villa to yourself is you get to run around naked!
I’d never done that before in a villa,
so was really happy running around naked all day.

cclembali_95

Being naked is the BEST.
Nothing is on you or bothers you.
I can never understand people who are shy about nudity.
We were BORN with nothing on.
So liberating!
I wish i could be naked all the time except that i love dressing up too.
Oh and i would get arrested.

cclembali_96

I totally recommend Amor Villa to anyone!
The only thing missing there is a wall for me to put my legs up.
