My whole life i’ve never applied foundation with a brush or sponge (eek)
and just resorted to using my fingers.
I own some professional make up sponges someone gave me but have never used them as i heard they suck up 50% of the foundation – wastage!
The way i see it,
using sponge = cheap and easy to apply, but it wastes a lot of foundation cos the sponge absorbs 50% of the foundation. So it ends up being washed off the sponge, instead of ending up on your face!
using brush = professional but messy, i know i’ll leave the brush lying on the side of my sink, staining it! Also, some girls find it rather expensive to buy a brush just to apply foundation.
using fingers = easiest and laziest way, but difficult to blend + even out foundation perfectly = poor blending for even application.
So when i saw that this new L’Oreal Paris built-in brush foundation pumps out foundation into the brush and comes with a cover, i was quite intrigued.
Girls generally don’t buy separate foundation brushes cos it just costs more,
so a built-in brush foundation makes a whole lotta sense!
They are ideal, as they’re said to produce even, precise and professional results
and is easier to apply with than fingers.
I was also thinking about how it’d be easy to carry around in my handbag if reapplication need be, cos you’d just have to pop the cover back on to avoid any staining in bag.
Behold the new L’Oreal Paris White Perfect Pearl Brush-On Whitening Foundation Essence [that’s a seriously long name…]
This is me sans make up. Ugh.
I have bad eye bags (hello work),
uneven skin tone (don’t know who/what to blame except genes)
and dark spots on my cheeks (blame my sunshine love).
People used to affectionately dub the little spots on my cheeks freckles.
Now that i’m older and the darn spots have increased in size,
they’re obviously not freckles but HELLO DARK SPOTS HORROR!
The L’Oreal Paris foundation is formulated with Melanin Block™ and Vitamin CG
to reduce the appearance of dark spots, brighten and even out skin tone.
(anything that prevents more dark spots from appearing on my skin is FAB with me!)
It also has SPF 17/PA++ to protect skin from harmful UV rays.
It’s really easy to use, let me show you how it works!
Trying it out step-by-step:
Step 1: I pushed the blue button until foundation oozed out slightly from the middle of the brush and applied a small amount on the back of my hand to even out the distribution of foundation in the brush.
The foundation is really soft and glides on easily with a satiny and matte finish.
Step 2: I applied the foundation in broad, downward strokes
to sweep & blend the makeup onto the nose, forehead, cheeks & chin.
Step 3: Apply in downwards criss-cross strokes to avoid streaky brush marks.
Went to the bathroom to do it properly cos i needed the mirror!
This is me after applying the L’Oreal Paris White Perfect Pearl Brush-On Whitening Foundation Essence:
NO powder or additional make up included!
It hid my dark spots really well, due to the satin coverage which can conceal all my spots without the need to use a concealer.
One thing i noticed was the pearly radiance and rosy glow that seemed to exude after applying it (wonders of the White Pearl Complex extract methinks), you can actually notice it in the picture above!
The whitening benefits really give a complete whitening effect.
The foundation is also very moisturizing, as it contains Hyaluronic Acid to keep skin hydrated and supple all day.
So the picture ABOVE is with just the foundation on.
After adding some eyebrow pencil, lip gloss and mascara:
Tada! Flawless skin and a perfect finish (if i do say so myself!)
It’s easy to apply foundation like a professional make up artist
with this brush foundation on hand.
It glides on easily, provides an even and consistent application that is so crucial when using liquid foundations (streaks are a big nono), and you don’t even have to get your fingers dirty! Now I can proudly offer my ahem, professional expertise to friends who need help with makeup.
Plus, it’s really affordable at RM79.90 only.
Normally a foundation brush alone will cost more than that!
You can check it out at your nearest Guardian/Watson outlet.
Seeing is believing! Before & After pix:
On the left is the face exposed to Clem…
after i seduced him with the face on the right.
Designer Teresa asked me to emcee her Autumn Winter show
which i had lots of fun doing!
After a number of times emceeing,
i’ve only just got over my stage fright…
and finally know how to ENJOY being up there instead of being afraid i’ll trip over my high heels, go into shock, etc.
Yeah it took me awhile
and lots of practice
I think being pulled in to give presentations in the office helped a lot too.
Having to talk during pitches in marketing jargon was like learning a new language…
and after that, talking about fashion seemed so EASY.
Like nothing. Heee
Life-sized white foxes placed atop dry ice at the venue
I love being backstage!
I MISS being backstage!
Ismie from Lancome did a beautiful job with my make up
In accordance with the theme, models wore tiny gold fox headbands.
I managed to nab one home
All the models were from Uzbekistan
Nicole, Ming did the make up for Gallo’s lookbook,
William from Toni & Guy did my hair that night
I JUST HAD to put this up!
The dress i wore crumpled slightly before i went on stage,
so i let someone steam iron it, whilst being pulled away from me.
They accidentally burnt me, and it festered for a week,
before unceremoniously popping and oozing out plasma,
grossing the hell outta Clem and i.
This pic was taken right after it popped… to reveal raw flesh underneath!
Hazards of being backstage -_-
So lesson learnt = NEVER LET ANYONE STEAM IRON YOU!

Using the lookbook pix cos i think they look better than the runway ones!
Some of my favourite looks:
I want the red jacket
I need to try this on to see whether it’s too big for small me!
Teresa and all her models
We did a quick lucky draw to give away vouchers worth RM3000 in total!
And an HTC Salsa phone too.
All the models and myself had white foxtails attached to our bums.

View of swimming pool (it’s MASSIVE btw) and overexposed beach behind.
Don’t know whether you can see, but the poolside is strewn with sand for a more natural feel to it!
I’ve stayed at Hard Rock Penang before during a Freeform company trip,
so ’twas nice to be back.
Flatscreen TV, contemporary furniture,
rock music playing in the corridors and lift,
rain shower in the bathroom
Some hotels have the worst bathroom lighting to do make up…
not Hard Rock!
I wanted to get a pedicure at The Rock Spa but they were fully booked,
so rested a tad and made up before going down to Hard Rock Cafe for dinner.
We shared some nachos and i had their classic burger which was as big as my FACE.
Lots of tiny pink ducks were scattered everywhere throughout the hotel for the event.
I ended up with a cock-eyed duck… which may be just as well seeing i have cock-eyed toy rabbit.
Now they can be friends.

Thanks to Elisa @ Hard Rock for inviting us over for a good time with a purpose!
Had a ton of fun!!!
Last weekend a bunch of us drove up north to Penang for a Pinktober event at Hard Rock Hotel.
On the way, we stopped for lunch at a particular restaurant, cos Xan insisted so.
And i’m so glad she did!!
Indulgence is a really spacious fine dining restaurant that serves food and desserts made from imported and the best ingredients one can find.
The interior of the place is so interesting,
with knick knacks placed against colourful walls,
and food products for sale at the entrance.
There were all these interesting yummy things i didn’t dare study for too long cos i’s afraid i’d buy them.
I never knew places like this existed in Ipoh! *lame*
Josh and the to-die-for desserts
An honest name for a brownie
I ordered salmon and prawn in angelhair chili pasta (RM38),
but we all really shared everything we got,
so we got to taste as much as we could!
Homemade pizza with massive prawns + caramelized onions was super yums.
In fact, everything i tried was super yums!
If only KL had a place like this i’d be there all the time!!
It’s kinda sad that i only have pictures of half-eaten desserts…
but everyone was just GOING AT IT so bad that the first thing i picked up was my fork and not my camera!
It was THAT good!
My personal favourites are the pavlova and cheesecake.
There was a moment my mouth was filled with so much cheesecake i couldn’t breathe properly.
I greedily admit that was a few seconds of complete heaven.
If heaven had to have a feeling, it would be a mouthful of spectacular cheesecake till you couldn’t breathe.
Chilling on couch after stuffing our faces.

Seeing Xan is friends with the owner Julie,
Julie took us on a tour upstairs where people can stay in lavishly-designed bedrooms.
The hallway. Damn. I want my hallway to look like this.
Dennis + Yuri
Hummingbird wall stickers!
There are 7 bedrooms each with different themes and deco
from Italian and Contemporary, to Chinese and English.
These were taken in the Moroccan-inspired one.
The bathrooms are really something.
If my bathroom looked like this i’d spend lots of time reading in it!!
Can’t really see, but this chair has only a piece of wood at the back but is surprisingly comfy.
I’m wearing shorts from Azorias and sandals from Anne Klein.
I love love love all the bathrooms! This one is so trippy!
Too bad there aren’t pix of the bathrooms on their website,
but you can see how all the other rooms look like under ‘Living’.
Gahhh i really want to take a roadtrip with the girls there JUST TO EAT.
