My first Jo Malone purchase was succumbed to in an airport as i sauntered past stores on my way to my departure gate. As it probably does with most women (which is how the Jo Malone brand has achieved to be what it is today), i was entranced by the elegance of the store and the simplicity of its perfumes.
Jo Malone is known to focus its fragrances on a few main notes, in comparison with the cacophony of beginning, middle and end notes other perfumes push unto us.
More interestingly i found, is the story behind Jo Malone herself (the founder), who started off her career by performing facials on customers, and sending them home-made bath oils as gifts. The bath oils were such a hit that they evolved into a fragrance business, which was eventually bought by Estee Lauder many years later.
Beneath all that entrepreneurship, a more human part of Malone is revealed in past interviews, like her severe dyslexia and battle with cancer. All of which makes me admire her and her brand all the more.
Recently, Jo Malone introduced a new fragrance called Peony & Blush Suede.

[Article below written by Louise Carmen]

Inspired by the big ball gowns and cotillions of the mid 20th century, this new fragrance brings us back to the romantic era where the charm of couture in an English ballroom is captured.
Peonies are featured in this scent as they are such delicate flowers with a romantic appeal. According to Christine Nagel, the master perfumer, peonies’ subtle fragrance also blends well with textures of fabric and leather. Suede was the choice of texture as it brings sensuality and warmth.

I’ve been needing new glasses for awhile now cos my last pair has been with me for… 5 years perhaps? And since then i’ve got a bit of astigmatism and my power isn’t the same anymore. One side of the Balenciaga logo has also dropped off and got lost somewhere so it does look a bit… tatty.
Oh okayyyy, and also Clem hates my spectacles and thinks i would look better with a sexy schoolteacher pair -_- So he was pressuring me to go get a new pair too. (I still love how my old glasses look! I don’t care what you say!)
After making a new pair, i grudgingly admit that it IS a lot better than my old ones…. not because of the style (tho i like this a lot too) but BECAUSE of the lenses itself – a very special type of lens called Transitions® Adaptive lenses.

Nice or not? Nice or not?
Transitions® Adaptive lenses are so special cos they darken when i’m out in the sunshine! When the lenses are exposed to UV rays, the lenses become darker; but the lenses fade back to clear when i’m in the shade or a room again. How cool is that!? The greater the intensity of the UV rays, the darker the lenses become!

That way i’m so much more comfortable without having glaring light when i’m outdoors, and the lenses’ ability to adapt to changing light ensures they’re always the exact shade i need them to be so i can SEE AS BEST I CAN. An extra point is that the lenses also block 100% of UVA & UVB rays.
I got my pair at Optical 88 in KLCC a couple of weeks ago >

Because i wore my contact lenses out in the day, i had to remove them and rest my eyes for 15-20 minutes before they could check my eyesight.
So what did i do… try on new prospects of course!

Can you see how i was trying to be the good girlfriend and get the style Clem wants -_- Since he’s gonna be the one looking at my face most of the time at home, i thought i might as well entertain his preference.

Check #1 – using the electronic machine

Results of Check #1

Check #2 – using another machine where the staff slipped in the glasses manually

Check #3 – last manual adjustments to get it exactly right

My final results after 3 tests!
I found out that these Transitions® Adaptive lenses are named after Transitions Optical who invented it!
Transitions® lenses came to be after the optical company worked with multiple lab and lens manufacturing partners, and made Transitions Optical’s exclusive photochromic technology an integral part of the lens. This patented photochromic dyes is what enables the lenses to rapidly activate/darken in the presence of UV rays.
Today, Transitions Optical offers the most advanced adaptive technology in the widest selection of lens designs, materials and brand names; so that everyone can enhance their vision and enrich the way they see and live!
Knowing i am using the best lenses in the market makes me feel a lot better while wearing them, and i don’t have to chide myself for not being able to read signs that are far away or even the subtitles on TV now (astigmatism does that to you).
More info on Transitions® Lenses in case you are gonna have to make yourself a pair of glasses soon:
– Completely clear indoors and at night

The price of Transitions® lenses depends on choice of lens brand, lens material, lens type (single-vision, bifocal, or progressive), your prescription and any coatings you opt to add. I took the thinnest lens i could for my Transitions® lens, and my glasses + lens totaled RM1,200.

Despite spending a full week in Siem Reap, we decided to spend only two days visiting the temples and historical sites. Figured we’d be “templed out” if we overdid it like in Myanmar. Can’t compare these temples to the ones in Myanmar tho… they’re vastly different in so many ways, tho i must say that the enormity of each temple in Siem Reap is truly marvelous!
A 1-day pass to visit Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples is USD20, and a 3-day pass costs USD40; so we just got the 3-day pass like everyone advised us to.

At Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world!
