If you’re a fan of cult make up brand NARS, you’d be delighted to know that the brand is finally opening its first store in Pavilion in November! No more having to pay loads for shipping fees, stocking up when traveling overseas, or begging friends to bring some back for you!
Did you know that NARS first started off by selling 12 lipsticks?
Founder Francois Nars was exposed to the world of beauty and fashion since an early age thanks to his own mother’s love for fashion. He became a famous make up artist, designer and photographer; earning recognition for his extraordinary make up skills and creativity from personalities like Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Marc Jacob; and magazines Vogue Italia, American Vogue and Elle.
Frustrated by the limited choices of make up products, Francois Nars begin to develop his own make up line with 12 lipsticks, and they sold out in Barneys, New York. Since then, the brand continues to develop and has became one of the most sought-after beauty brands in the world.
Today, Francois Nars remains artistic director, in-house photographer, and copywriter of his own brand. Every single ad campaign for NARS is directed by him.
To celebrate its launch in Malaysia, there will be some NARS products that will be named after KL and will be introduced when the store launches. This includes an eyeshadow duo called Kuala Lumpur, and the Multiple that will be called Malaysia.
NARS’ skin care line will also be introduced in the Malaysian market.
Originating from the UK, Dyson has achieved many awards for its innovative designs. Over the years, they’ve pushed boundaries to produce some amazing machines, one of their most recognisable inventions being THAT bladeless fan and their spectacular vacuum cleaners.
What’s so special about Dyson’s vacuum cleaners?
1. Inspired by the compact living conditions in Japan, the Dyson team were eager to design a vacuum cleaner which could easily fit in a tiny apartment. After years of trial and failure, they finally came out with vacuum cleaners that are compact, have powerful suction power, and can be disassembled easily (so you can keep it somewhere hidden. No clutter around during a house party!).
2. Most household Dyson vacuum cleaners weigh less than 5kg; making it compact, light, and great for women!
3. Every single motor and part is designed and produced by Dyson. The Cyclone technology (used in Dyson vacuum cleaners) is result from 5 years and 5127 prototypes since James Dyson introduced the first Dyson vacuum cleaner. From that point, more than 200 Dyson engineers around the world have been refining the technology, ensuring maximum suction and comfortable function.
4. All Dyson vacuum cleaners don’t require vacuum bags. The filter bin stores all the dirt and dust, which you easily remove from the machine with a coin, to empty into your bin.

I’ve been doing my hair regularly at The Met for the past 2-3 years and was pretty chuffed when they asked me to model for them at the recent HAIRlah 2013 – the first large-scale professional hair industry trade event. Well i’m not really a model, cos i don’t have the height for it, but i pull off short hair so… i think they had no choice haha!!!
My superstylist Alex and i on the runway.
I wore a metal mesh suit by fashion designer and sculptor Chetan Veena.
Lots of behind-the-scenes pix below! >
I couldn’t figure out how they made this hairstyle so freaking high till i asked around and was pointed to these black sponge thingies >
There’s a lot of waiting around at fashion shows… our call time was 1:30pm and the hair and make up team had roughly 6 hours to spruce everyone up. I brought my laptop so i could work while waiting, why waste time!?
Thanks Mabel Maegen for the gorgeous make up using Shu Uemura colours!
In the middle of her working, i asked for her name then told her mine.
She said, “I know who you are! I am so nervous to do make up for you…”
I was like, “Whyyyyyy -_-”
I went by Sacoor Brothers a few days ago to use up some store credit i have with them, and didn’t even know there was a sale going on for their Spring Summer collection! Some items like their silk ties are even up to 60% off! The sale is only on till 1st September so you should drop by their Pavilion or KLCC THIS WEEKEND if you don’t wanna miss out.
If you haven’t heard of Sacoor Brothers before, i’ll just give you a quick rundown. The Portugese label just launched less than a year ago in KL, and already have over sixty boutiques across the globe (in Singapore, Portugal, Spain, UK, Belgium, United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait).
Some might recognise the celebrities they have endorsing their apparel, like William Baldwin, Chris O’Donnell, Rob Lowe, as well as the actors from CSI: Miami and Grey’s Anatomy. Sacoor Brothers is also the official suit supplier for the FC Barcelona football team!
I brought Josh along with me cos i wanted to share some of my store credit with him… in some way trying to repay him for helping me out SO MUCH with shooting products for my upcoming online store!
Joshua Chay is a photographer whom i first met when i was Managing Ed at Tongue in Chic, and he would do the photography and video work for us (he still works closely with the TIC team!). Now, he’s got his own studio with his business partner Chris, called The Spacemen; and has done vids for Levi’s, Hermes, GAP, AirAsia, and Topshop/Topman. < just click on the links to watch ’em. I love the Hermes one!!
He’s so hard to get ahold of cos he’s shooting every single day from morning till late at night (i know, cos we had to fit in dates to shoot my stuff)! Even to go out shopping he had to move his meetings around so we could just GO and have some fashion FUN!
When i initially asked Josh to come pick out some clothes with me, he was a bit hesitant and asked, “But will they fit?” cos he’s as small as me. I was like, “Eh, they measure you when you’re there and alter everything to YOUR size, so you don’t have to worry!”
Josh wearing Sacoor Bros jacket, and me wearing a skirt from their SS collection.
I can’t wait to get this skirt after alteration! It’s made of soft silk and look how it falls so nicely!
Rita got me to stand on the chair so she could measure it better instead of poor her crouching on the ground. I didn’t mind. It made me feel EXTRA TALL XD
I found another skirt that i love! It’s so festival-like, but i’m afraid i might ruin it if i dared to wear it somewhere there’s a high chance of me rolling around on the grass.
