It certainly has been one of the worst months i’ve ever seen Malaysia face in my life.
First Anwar’s arrest, then the continuous disappearance of flight MH370,
the drought which brought on the fires and haze and water shortage,
and most recently, the cancellation of Day 3 Future Music Festival Asia.
I think a lot of us needed the fest, to go out and stop thinking about the flight for awhile.
But i can see why it had to be canceled. Five people died that night, with a more in critical condition in the hospital. I heard through the grapevine that it’s not due to an overdose, as reports have said, but because of a bad batch of MDMA. Sometimes people have a drink and they don’t even know someone has slipped MDMA in it! So you can’t simply go blaming the kids who died, that’s terrible!
My condolences goes out to the family and friends of the deceased.
It’s a real tragedy that partying led to the grave.
I want to let people know that this was beyond the organiser’s control. They are my friends and i’ve seen them slave away for months to organise an event of this magnitude on an international level. Did they not pull of last year’s FMFA with no deaths from drugs? It was a terrible awful tragedy that a batch of drugs so destructive as to kill so many people in one night took place, but raves and festivals have been happening in Malaysia for over 15 years, and i can’t recall another time this many people died in one night.
FMFA did what they had to do to prevent more people from hurting themselves.
You think the organisers wanted to cancel Day 3? This is their job and their passion. They research, plan and promote this thing for months on end because they believe in bringing in great music and raising the entertainment industry in Malaysia. They put their money where their mouths are. By cancelling Day 3, they have to refund people their tickets BUT all the artistes and tour fees are already paid for. The artistes are paid hundreds of thousands of USD.
So please, have some empathy for the guys who were making a difference in the entertainment scene here on a global level (i heard people flew in from as far as the US), and it fatefully turned around for the worst. If I were them I’d want to bury myself into a hole and disappear right now, WHICH IS WHY this is the time to give some real love to Livescape. (Some people posted on Facebook that they will NOT be claiming their refund, in support of the company as to aid their losses. It’s a great idea.)
Don’t blame the police, don’t blame the organisers, don’t blame the kids who died.
Blame the drug dealer and the drug smuggler.
I hope they get caught and charged for murder.
I made my way to the Furla store in Pavilion last week, thinking the event was gonna be there.
It was empty and i thought, “Oh?”
Staff there told me it’s in the centre court,
and it turned out to be a really big thing with almost 300 guests and lots of champers.
Silly me.
There were a few Italian VIPs there that night, like the two CEOs of FURLA Italy and FURLA Asia Pacific, and the Italian Ambassador of Malaysia with his family.
Furla arranged for five talented females to decorate Candy bags on stage in front of the audience – international award-winning actress Yeo Yann Yann, actresses Diana Danielle and Anzalna Nasir, Little Starlet Crystal Lee, and singer/songwriter Zee Avi.
Furla also had a bunch of KL’s fashion bloggers attend the event.
Thanks to Furla for gifting me a Candy bag of my choice! I picked a lipstick red one and love it!
I call it my drunk bag cos it’s like a giant bucket with a zip opening on the top so things don’t fall out easily, plus it’s super roomy and friends are always commenting on the astonishing number and size of items i manage to innocently fish out of it. ALSO, it stands up nicely like a box and i can leave it on a table in a bar or party and not worry if anyone spills their drink on it, cos it’s constructed out of rubber!
I went for a Levi’s® event last week not knowing what it was for but just going anyway, cos they always set up interesting and fun events which usually have lots of media friends i know attending.
We each had pictures of ourselves taken, to insert into a caption contest Levi’s had specially for us.
Everyone in full concentration cos Choon told us a Macbook air, iPad air and iPhone 5S were up for grabs.
Serious prize-giving going on!
Some people were shocked at my previous post but i’m not that fussed about it!
I just had a fleeting 30 minutes of anger y’know, then it dissipates. I think Mayland deserves it anyway.
The last time i wrote an angry post was probably 5 years ago so i think i have some license
There are much bigger things happening right now anyway (which we all know what).
I check up on the news a few times a day and it’s heart-wrenching to know there is still so much mystery revolving MH370.
Claudia suggested *this Yahoo link* to follow regularly for news.
On a completely different note, i’ve been meaning to compile some interesting organic/healthy finds i’ve discovered recently. Since my colon hydrotherapy detox (which i HAVE YET TO FINISH WRITING bout cos it’s so long!), i’ve been on a new journey to use organic food in my cooking, cut down my consumption of processed food (so hard when our tastebuds are accustomed to so much artificial flavouring), eat raw when i’m trying to be good, eat less meat, smoke and drink less, exercise more, etc.
I think because i’m on the lookout for services for this new lifestyle of mine, i’ve come to take note of these really cool startups that i think deserve a mention and publicity!
Behold and be healthy!
Delicious Detox Delivery
Run by two European health experts who are residing in Malaysia, DDD’s mission reads: “It is our mission, to re-introduce you to the most nourishing and delicious food and make it easy for you to obtain: we deliver it right to your doorstep! Because we care. We care about you and our planet. The more unprocessed food we consume, the lesser burden we put on our body and our beautiful mother earth!”
I’ve stopped buying chickens in the local supermarket cos i can’t stand how much FAT it has! It completely grosses me out and i only buy kampung/free-range chickens now. Chickens nowadays mature into adults a whole lot FASTER than of yesteryear, and it’s because of all the hormones they’re injected with! How do you think these chickens get so plump and fat? And why do you think more and more little girls get their periods at age 10 nowadays? It’s so scary! I talk about this with my friends who cook all the time.
I read on this website that eating meat produced with antibiotics and hormones cause issues like:
early puberty in children
breast, prostate, and other cancers
inability to fight bacterial infections
People need to be a lot more aware of where their food comes from and how it’s grown.
SweetEe and i exchange a lot of info with each other, and she shared these two websites with me where you can order free-range chicken in KL.
There are also a couple of juice companies that have come into my radius recently!
The Organic Juicery
The Organic Juicery delivers detox kits in the form of fresh organic fruit and veggie juices. They’ve got delicious-sounding recipes i’ve seen on Instagram but have been to lazy to try myself. Kits go from 1-Day (RM150) to 3-Days (RM390)
Strip Juice uses cold press technology to bring you the freshest purest juice with no added sugar, no preservatives, no flavouring, nor binding agents. Choose from Orange, Grapefruit (both 500ml bottle) and Pomegranate (250ml) selling for RM23 per bottle.
They say that they don’t easily use the word “organic” as it’s tough to get organic fruits all year round, but reassure people that it’s roughly 80% organic fruits that are used.
Hope you learnt some new stuff from here!
If you have any other companies you think should be in this post please comment on this post and i’ll include them!
I am so pissed off!
I haven’t been so annoyed in so long!!!
I bought a piece of property from Mayland two years ago when it was in developing stage, and it was finished end of last year (a few months late).
They sent me the handover letter dated 31st Dec 2013, but the post mark on it was dated 16th Jan 2014.
That alone lost me two weeks. Then it was CNY, nobody was open.
When i finally went to their office to get my key, i had to question this RM18K+ “interest advice” that mysteriously appeared in my handover letter.
They said it’s because my bank (i used HSBC) paid them late.
Of course, it wasn’t HSBC, even the LAWYERS that Mayland hired quietly mentioned it’s actually the developer’s fault.
So i had to go back and forth getting proof from the bank and lawyers to give to Mayland so they’d waive the interest advice. (I must add, that both the banker and lawyers were really helpful and swift in their assistance, as opposed to Mayland!)
What makes NO SENSE is that Aps bought a unit right below me, we went thru the SAME banker and home loan scheme, and she doesn’t have any interest advice of that amount.
After i told her to check her letter carefully, she discovered she also had this “interest advice” of around RM2K.
Nothing near mine, but still, people who are keen to get their keys will just simply sign off and pay and Mayland gets this money!
What adds to the ultra annoyance of this whole experience are the NUMBER of agents bombarding us with text messages and phone calls to rent or sell our units. WHO GAVE THESE people our contact details!? It’s illegal to give our private information out freely!
There was one afternoon i was so busy and took a call, and this guy was sloooowllyyyyy asking me whether i wanted to sell my unit. I had HAD IT. I told him, “I keep on getting phone calls from agents! It’s annoying and it’s wrong for you to use information that isn’t yours! Where did you get my information from?” And he said? “I dunno… my boss give me…” Slap myself and die i tell you.
Ok fine. So when i get the documents of proof that Mayland should waive this RM18K+ fee, it’s almost mid-end Feb.
And this whole time, i have to already start paying my mortgage while Mayland takes their own fucking sweet time.
I’m always the one calling and chasing them up and they are so incompetent it takes all my self-control to be polite.
Today i have finally LOST IT.
I was told that i’d most probably get my clearance letter to get my keys this week.
Dahlah i couldn’t get it last week cos they said some Puan Sri who’s supposed to sign off the approval (to waive something that’s not even supposed to be there in the first place!) is away in Hong Kong all week FFS.
So i called today and really, this should be the last week cos i’ve done everything i could.
But they love to make me wait… oh they do.
Today they said that the management is still on it.
And this girl attending to me had the cheek to laugh a little bit on the phone!
I don’t see how this is FUNNY in any way! So much for professionalism!
They keep on saying it’s the management, it’s the management.
Well, WHAT THE FUCK are the management DOING!?
It’s almost mid-March… almost two and a half months after the bloody building has been completed!
