I’m at the Curve at least once a week to grab a bite,
have a meeting,
or run some errands.
Last week tho,
was one of the few occasions i went there for a fashion show.
The Curve‘s Centre Court was transformed
to exude a springtime feel complete with vibrant splashes of green.
Heck, even most of the guests wore green that night,
and i took the opportunity to grab some close-up shots of their threads,
while waiting for the show to start:
“Fashion represents an integral form of creative expression which explains its importance in every individual’s daily lifestyle.
Our focus is to ensure that shoppers can turn to the Curve to satisfy their fashion cravings to look their best.
On this note, the Curve goes to great lengths to organise its Fashion Week on an annual basis.”
– Madam Adele D. Flores, Centre Manager, the Curve
Emceed by Sarimah Ibrahim,
the show started with a couple of dance performances:
Try to spot popular Malaysian models Tengku Azura and Nasha Aziz
in the fash show pix below! Hair by Kunst, and make up by Shiseido.
Last Friday, SmallSerena and i fathomed how we could get
from an event in KLCC to another in Mid Valley
duringFRIDAY RUSH HOUR
and be there on time.
But somehow we did!
And we even managed to squeeze in
– visiting some Hermes dresses in Aseana
– and buying KFC to wolf down on the way there.
(fashion + food = <3)
Miraculously, there was no jam;
and (also miraculously) i managed to not spill any sauce on myself while eating 2 pieces of their new black pepper chicken (it’s like Hot & Spicy, but less spicy and more peppery, if that makes sense)
Arrived just in time to catch Natasha going up for a short speech
Sometimes at events, Clem will ask me what certain people do out of curiosity’s sake.
Other times, i just offer up the information.
“That’s Kenneth Goh, he’s the Fashion Director of Harper’s” i told Clem “Ah, i see! I said ‘what’s up’ to him.”
“You said ‘what’s up‘?” *scrunches eyes imagining scenario of bf talking to Kenneth like his homey* -_-
Ha, i have an interesting story about Abbi! (well interesting to me anyway!)
I was saying hi to his mutual friend, when friend suddenly turned to say hi to someone else
(some events are like speed dating, except the more accurate term would be speed socialising)
so Abbi and i looked at each other,
and introduced ourselves.
I think our conversation was love-at-first-sight from the start.
Bantering, screaming, pouting in pictures… MFEO!
Somewhere in the middle of me telling Abbi how much i loved his polka dot shirt,
Clem accidentally bumped into me, so i gestured towards him saying it’s my boyfriend.
My new-found MFEO then nods, “Mm-hmm”
in a disturbingly appreciative tone.
Wondering what he’s staring at,
i follow his eyes to see him staring at Clem’s ass,
who was bending over to pick up a drink near us that was on a low table
Which is when, i decided, I CAN’T BE MFEO WITH SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO GRAB MY MAN’S ASS!
and I BETTER WATCH OUT FOR THIS ONE! *SUSPICIOUS*
So that was Strike 1.
Strike 2 was when a few of us were discussing 18-SX stuff,
and Abbi told Clem something along the lines of: “She doesn’t know what she’s doing. Call me.”
And Clem just laughed.
-_-
Funny is it?
-_-
I have a feeling there will be 34398 strikes to come.
Went to the Blueprint tent two Saturdays ago to check out the booths and fashion shows in the afternoon
Spotted these exquisite leaf pendants cast with 99.9% silver
by a most friendly elderly lady called Marilyn Tan >
She explained to me in great detail how she crafted them
and how each and every one is different.
You can contact her at info.marilyntjewellery@gmail.com
Bought a necklace (obviously!) at 50% off at SGD85
which i wore to the following shows that night. Wish i could buy more but i really really have to control myself a bit for shopping in NYC and London >.<
+ + +
Attended the PARCO next NEXT show.
There are heaps of pix,
so i’m just picking the ones i personally fancy.
Mae Pang > i also love the colourful pieces for her SS10 collection on her site, go looksee!
Designs from the winners of Star Creation were also shown right after the Parco NN one.
Aimed at uncovering young Asian designers,
the winners (picked out of 75 entries!) each received – $10,ooo cash from Audi SG
– 1-year work attachment + $2,500 monthly stipend with FJ Benjamin to launch their capsule collection
Daniel was also awarded the Audi Fashion Young Designer award which garnered him an additional $5,000 cash prize
and all-expenses paid 3-week internship at the Audi Concept Design HQ in Germany
This is gonna be my last post for my trip to Audi Fashion Festival!
Everyone who asked me how my trip to Singapore was got a super enthusiastic answer from me: “Surprisingly… i think this was one of my best trips to Singapore! I think cos it had to do with fashion and ’twas my first time going to Singers for a fashion thing.”
It was a wonderful experience,
well-organised (as everything in Singapore is :p)
and seeing Singaporean designs just blew. me. away.
I think it was a GOOD THING i didn’t have much time to visit all their stores and booths,
else i’d be much poorer upon my return to KL.
:p
Great job on the Asia Fashion Exchange
especially Audi Fashion Festival, Singapore.
And hope you’ll bring me down again next year
Was surfing on Juice and stumbled upon this new vid by MizzNina
“Hip hop’s first lady MizzNina video drop ‘What You Waiting For’ featuring American singer Colby O’Donis. The video is directed by Scott McCullough, who dabbles as Director of Photography with production from Jesse Felsott, Mark Heidlberger and Treasure Entertainment. The catchy single ‘What You Waiting For’ which was shot in Los Angeles, California has been getting mad airplay on local radio stations.” [Source: Juice]
I think this is the first Malaysian video in a long time that i actually like.
Watched it a second time and thought how natural and beautiful she looks!
And felt a bit proud (tho i don’t know her personally) of someone from KL making it
in doing something they love and producing a great project out of it!
So besides Wilson and Sally (our dying plant),
Clem brought home a dinosaur from Thailand,
plying it with stories of swimming pools and air con luxury.
He surprised me by placing it in the bathroom shower,
so he (the dinosaur) looked like he was enjoying his first bathroom experience.
While talking on the sofa with my head on Clem’s chest,
i asked, “What should we name him?!”
At that point of time, these thoughts were running through my head: i think we should name him Philip!
Cos he LOOKS like a Philip, tho that’s a weird thing to say,
cos what dinosaur LOOKS like a Philip?! Nevermind we’ll see what Clem says!
And Clem replied, “I think we should call him… Philip.”
To which i jolted upright with wide eyes.
Did he just say Philip? Wait, did *i* say Philip?
But no! I said it in my head! I didn’t say it out loud!
“OH MY GOD! I just thought of Philip! AND YOU JUST SAID IT!”
“What? Noooo…” “I’m SERIOUS! That is SO weird! I SWEAR ON FAIRIES!!!”
“Why fairies?!” “Because i totally believe in them so swearing on them is, never mind, that’s not the point!”
“Haha ok i believe you!”
Isn’t that weird!
But so cool!
Cos i tried thinking back whether we spoke about anything to do with the name Philip which might have prompted it into our subconscious but nothing came up.
I even thought of whether it *might* have been the dino’s name from Toy Story
cos our new dino kinda looks like the one from Toy Story, but it’s not!
DarlingDhanya thinks we’re riding on each other’s brain wavelengths,
whereas others have said we just belong in the looney bin together -_-
