Nothing like fashion to brighten up a gloomy Monday! (it looks like it’s gonna storm!)
Some of my fave looks from Gallo’s FW10 collection:
Silk maxi dress

Last Monday i dropped by the new Gallo by Thian store
that’s on the 1st floor right in the middle of Gardens mall.
They already have two outlets in BSC and Pavilion,
so this makes it their third store!
I’m really happy they’re doing well…
I’ve been a major fan of their pieces since Eleanorwrote a blogpost about the brand back in 2008, and i used to visit their store just to check out the clothes.
Back then, the pieces were more expensive – ranging around RM800 and above.
They’re much more affordable now (yay for us!) and i’ve been buying things from their BSC outlet after i loaned some pieces to wear for Singapore’s Audi Fashion Festival.
Fail right.
Go to loan clothes to wear,
and end up buying some.
Their new Gardens outlet is much brighter and larger than their BSC one.
Pieces are hung in sets next to each other,
should one be stumped on how to mix and match them.
It’s really easy shopping cos you get to immediately see which tops were designed to go with the pants you have your eye on and make your choice (or try to divert from more shopping).
The pricing seems quite standard,
with tops, shorts and pants going for around RM269-RM289.
The cocktail dresses, which i think are killer for Christmas parties, are around RM489.
I keep on telling people how worth it i think it is, cos they’re all made from silk and chiffon.
So you’re paying for a classic piece which is going to stay in your wardrobe,
not some cheap cotton piece you’ll chuck in a year’s time.
There are a few cotton pieces in store, but the really soft quality type (oh i’m so bad at describing fabric!) with detailing and embellishments on them.
There’s a Blue Room with mauve and cream pieces from their AW10 collection.
This be Teresa Thian, who designs ALL THE PIECES EVERY SEASON.
Single-handedly.
While having a baby and raising another toddler.
We were talking about shopping in HK,
and i was asking her about the shop design.
Seems she designed the store herself too,
with the help of the contractor to put it together.
One thing i ADORE about Gallo’s clothing is the DETAIL.
I’ve started to wear more clothes that are pristine in detail
whether it comes to stitching or embellishments or design,
and Thresa always implements all those things in her pieces!
Even two little embellishments on a collar mean all the difference to me.
She’s also started designing shoes (is there something she cannot do -_-)
I tried on some clothes,
and was surprised i had to wait for a dressing room on a Monday afternoon.
Don’t women have to work!?
Gallo’s detail even goes right down to personalized wrapping paper in which your purchases come in.
I wore one of the dresses to the Prestige Top 40 Under 40 event last Saturday:
Dress from Gallo by Thian I love the chiffon sleeves, and the ruches on the lower half of the dress hide my tummy rather nicely
Necklace from Spitalfields in London.
Got so many jokes about it that night -_-
Clem asked whether we were going bowling. -_- MadcapperSa asked whether she could tell the future in it. -_-

you can visit their website –www.gallobythian.com
They’ve also recently kicked off their e-shopping feature,
so those who can’t go to their stores can buy them online!
Huh. I prepared this post and completely forgot to put it up even thought MIFW was weeks ago! Guess it wasn’t high on my priority list
Went for an afternoon show primarily to watch Jimmy Lim and Gallo’s designs.
The rest were just sorta embarrassing.
And the show was too long.
I was dying to leave halfway but tried to persevere.
Will post pix from Jimmy Lim and Gallo once i get my hands on the images!
I usually wake up around 9:30am every day,
so when i told Clem i had to wake up at 8:15 for Ashley + Brian’s Registration of Marriage,
he went, “OH NO!” in mock shock, cos he wakes up at 7:30 every day for work.
Hmph. -_-
I was bubbling with excitement the night before,
and got up fairly easily.
Didn’t realise my iPhone was on silent and saw Ash was trying to call me. “Hello?” “Are you awake?!”
“Huh, yes i am la…” “I tried calling you so many times! You didn’t pick up!”
“Oh my phone was on silent, sorry! I’m already ready, leaving now.”
Bride kancheong.
We met at their house and convoyed to Putrajaya where the registrar’s office is.
Ironically, the dpt where you get a marriage cert, is at the same desk you get your divorce ones -_-
FaiTheMai. Always on his Blackberry.
Pay attention to real life Fai!
7 years ago i met Mooky on Friendster (haha)
I then dragged AshleyTheMonkey to meet him with me at a mamak.
He introduced us to FaiTheMai.
And we’ve all been friends since.
Rosie + Joan – two of Ash’s old friends and bridesmaids
Ash has the same camera as me – the Olympus Pen – except hers is white.
To get married, they pay an RM30 fee (only, i know right!), take a number and wait.
After about 40 mins(?) we’re all ushered into a room to witness the signing.
The lady read the pledge so quickly and with such bad pronunciation it was barely comprehensible.
And i was sitting right next to her too!
Ash asked me to be their witness and sign their marriage papers!
So exciting!
I felt oh so important!
JollyMooky was like a happy daddy going around taking pictures of everyone and everything.
Brian’s dad took a group shot of the couple + their friends.
After he took it, he went, “Funny! Funny!” and started waving his arms and legs around, gesturing for us to do the same.
Noone really moved, and his camera captured another normal picture.
“No! Do funny! Funny!”
And because he just REFUSED to let us go till we all did something funny,
everyone started shoving and cheering till he was satisfied.
I took the camera from Uncle and helped them take a family shot.
After that i said, “Now, your turn to do funny! Funny!”
And Brian’s dad was the only one who started waving his arm and leg in the air.
Now *that* was funny
Bride with the girlies
Mooky, me, Ash + Fai
A picture just like old times
I’m sure we’ll have more in the future.
Just hope that we end up looking better instead of older. (Fai cannot make it already la, he was so skinny last time mwahaha)
On the night we arrived back in KL from HK,
Clem did something strange as we were about to fall asleep.
He raised his head and squinted at something behind me
and said, “That’s weird…”
Me: What is it?? Him: Nothing, it’s nothing. If i tell you, you’d freak out.
Me: THEN DON’T TELL ME!
But that was bad enough.
It set my imagination running like a bullet train.
What did he see?!
Oh my god, maybe it’s because we left the place empty for a few days and something came in here to ‘rest’?!
*imagines jun-on-like woman crawling on ceiling*
*imagines little dead child with blank stare standing in the corner*
GAH
How am i gonna sleep now?!
Okay think happy thoughts
Maybe it’s something other than a ghost
*thinks of little black balls rolling on the ground*
Hey… why do these balls freak me out?
What’s that movie called…
Oh! Critters!
Damn horror movies… see what they do to you
This is why you have to stop watching them!
By that time Clem had already snoozed off peacefully -_-
And i…
I had nightmares all night -_-
I dreamt that Yishyene came over to watch TV with us,
and we felt there was a fourth person in the room but us girls didn’t dare go see what/who it was.
So we got Clem to go since ‘he doesn’t believe in Asian ghosts’
It was still quite stressful.
The next day, i asked Clem, “So what did you see?!” Him: I thought i heard you breathing heavily but it wasn’t you. Anyway i was tired. It was probably nothing.
Me: I had nightmares all night because you told me that before i slept! Him: But i didn’t tell you anything!
Me: But you SAID that it’d freak me out! Of course i’d still be thinking about it and freaking out! Next time just lie to me! Him: You want me to lie to you?
Me: Yes. Next time you THINK you saw something when we’re about to sleep, just keep quiet or lie to me!!!
Yes, i’m a 27-year-old who’s scared of ghosts.
Thanks to all the horror movies i devoured plus my whacky imagination.
Plus i’m Asian.
According to Clem, every time i’m scared of something,
or do something weird,
it’s because it’s ‘an Asian thing’.
