Last Friday night, i bopped to reggae in the car in an effort to calm myself down in the horrendous traffic jam on the Kerinchi Link.
A drive that normally took 15 minutes became a crawlingone hour + 15 minutes.
You should have seen my face by the time i arrived at the event.
Dying for a drink in my hand.
Ash Nair and Dennis Lau collaborated their vocals and violin skills,
which i witnessed for the first time.
In fact, i didn’t even know they performed together!
Maybe i’m out of the scene more than i thoughtย
Ash, Dhivya, Tianna
me and Thresa, the talented designer behind Gallo!
There were so many people to talk to and catch up with
but i finally tore myself away to check out the jewelry displays.
I mean, what kind of blogger would i be if i went to a jewelry launch
and didn’t even see the collection right :p
If you didn’t already know, Thomas Sabo has the cutest charms.
Intricately made from sterling silver, Ash and i used to peer
at the different designs (cos they’re so tiny, so peer is the right word!)
in their Bangsar Village II store.
They’ve got a crazy range of charms like dogs, cherries, lips,
butterflies, hummingbirds, robots, etc.
The dragonfly reminded me of Aps… cos she likes them so.
*nudge nudge Fai*
The one of the left makes me think of MadcapperSa. If i had to name a Thomas Sabo fan, it’d be her!
I’ve spotted her wear so many charms… i’ve lost count what and how many she has.
I’m just posting these ones up cos i fancy them!
Besides giraffes (ZIRAFAH!), i heart frogs, rabbits, robins, caterpillars (but nobody ever makes accessories of caterpillars, they reckon it’s ugly i presume, boo), and a few more i just can’t remember right now.
Isn’t the carrot crazy cute!
So tempted to the carrot or les lapin. Hmm!
There are countless designs i’m not posting here,
just too many!
So you should go the store to see them yourself,
then you’ll know what i mean about there being so many!
What i wore >
neon orange slip; leftblock
studded leggings; chris kane for topshop
heels; zara
belt; mom’s
swarovski necklace; justin yap
In the past year, i’ve started exploring different forms of entertainment in KL…
and one of them have been stand up comedies!
I watched MACC (Malaysian Association of Chinese Comedians) last year cos my friend Jenhan was in it (support mah!),
and i thoroughly enjoyed myself.
It’s a great way to spend a few hours,
you get to sit down and indulge in laughter – the best medicine!
The trio are back this month with a Chinese New Year special:

Tickets can be purchased at PJ Live Arts Theatre’s Box Office.
Alternatively, buy it online at www.pjla.com.my
or call 603 – 7960 0439 / 012 683 2099 for information.
Price difference is due to normal seats vs premium seats (numbered).
I’ll be giving away 2x tickets to the 27th January 9pm show!
To win, tell me an experience or memory regarding Chinese New Year.
I.e. For my Cantonese family, the first day of CNY should be vegetarian.
When we were children, eating veggies was the bane of the festival.
Especially that vegetarian dish with the hair-like thing?
(I’m such a bad Chinese, don’t even know what it’s called -_-)
Over the years we just got accustomed to it so it’s not so bad when we’re adults,
but when we were kids, we used to get my aunty’s maid to cook us Maggi mee in the afternoons so we could still eat something yummy… without breaking that rule of being vegetarian!
To submit your entry, simply comment on the post (with valid email)
or email joycethefairy@gmail.com
Deadline: 24th January 2011
: : Edit : :
Congrats to Lily for winning the tickets!
And thanks to everyone else who participated ๐
Printers were never really my thing.
They were just something i NEEDED in the office at my previous jobs,
and were usually the bane of my working day,
because they’d decide not to work for some unknown reason (or the reason would take a few hours to surface).
I hated having to print things.
First i’d have to make sure that my pc was connected to the correct printer (out of the 3 or 4 available),
then i’d have to make sure the right paper size was selected.
And i’d have to make sure the paper tray wasn’t empty.
Even after all that, sometimes what i sent to print wouldn’t appear,
because someone else’s printing got stuck or something before that.
And then when i finally get what i sent to print,
i’d get 3x the copies i needed cos i frustratedly pressed ‘PRINT’ too many times.
Which would cause me to get more frustrated at having wasted paper -_-
And sometimes, it just WOULDN’T print from my pc,
causing the IT guy to scratch his head,
and wonder aloud whether i’m cursed with all things that required technology.
Which would then cause me to email a colleague with what i have to print and ask very nicely whether they could please help me print from their pc cos it just wouldn’t from mine!
So as you can see,
my relationship with printers = abominable.
Since i’ve been working from home,
a printer has been in need…
and i got one for Christmas ย
HP’s ePrint technology allows my printer to be connected to my wireless router.
A personalized email is then given to me (exclusive to my printer).
With this email, all i, or anyone has to do, is just send files to it whereby the files will be printed out automatically!
Freaking amazing.
I love it cos it’s sexy, black and sleek.
To make it more ‘me’, i promptly placed two fairy figurines on it.
After connecting it to my router and getting the printer online,
i was wondering WHICH button to press to get that personalized email.
Remembered i had to hang my clothes (just got back from France, LOTS of laundry to do!)
and while i was in the garden, i heard the faint buzzing of something printing by itself.
Oh no… don’t tell me i didn’t press something i was supposed to (how would i know!) and it’s printing something i don’t want!
Padahal it automatically printed me the email i was looking for!
IdiotUser-friendly or what!
[had to blur out my email a bit okay]
I tested it by sending my hpeprint.com email some documents from my gmail,
and counted 15 seconds before it started printing by itself.
Eureka!
I felt so accomplished not having to wrestle with the printer or pray feverishly for it to work!
So now, anyone ANYWHERE can send me a document or picture to print immediately.
As long as the person sending it has email,
they can send me things to print – from an Appleยฎ iPadโข, an iPhoneโข, a Blackberryยฎ or other smartphone, a desktop PC, a work or personal laptop, or a netbook computer, it doesn’t matter!
I can send (from my phone) a document my parents need while i’m out at a meeting,
or they could print it themselves from their own emails.
No software setup (benci!) required!
I gave Yishyene, who’s in London, my printer email,
and one afternoon my printer started printing by itself cos she sent me a picture of us from her iPhone, from halfway round the world!ย
Apparently as long as standard files are sent – PDF, Word, PowerPoint, jpg, gif, png, bmp – it’ll be printed out easily with no problems.
When i was getting the printer,ย i asked: “What if people find out the email and send me junk i don’t want to get printed?”
They said that if so, i can just opt for a protected mode and choose all my preferred senders so i don’t get stuff that wastes my ink and paper.
Besides being a printer, it opens up to be a scanner as well.
And because the printer is connected to the internet,
HP has teamed up with other brands to create special web apps exclusively for their printers!
I use the touchscreen to surf through what i want!
Using my finger to surf on a printer… who would’ve thought!
There’s this cool one with Dreamworks where i can choose which movie i want,
and then view all the children’s activities available for print.
I printed one out and seeing there isn’t a child nearby to give it to do,
i did it myselfย
Never again shall i go see my friends’ children empty-handed!
Now i can print all the activities i need to keep them quiet while we catch up heh heh
There’s also a Crayola one,
and Sudoku.
I don’t play Sudoku,
but Clem doesย
I chose the most difficult one for him to try… Evil.
It automatically prints it out with the answers on the back.
Sorry it’s so hard for me to be excited bout Sudoku cos i don’t see what’s so great about itย -_-
Besides fun and games, i can choose a type of printed paper like so:
I like child rule!
And a few others as well:
I thought the Bing maps was pretty cool for when we travel and don’t have internet access/google maps with us.
Sometimes we just gotta carry maps the old school way!
There’s a cool one called Tabbloid, where i can choose my favourite blogs and let Tabbloid compile them to be printed.
But i was thinking i read all these online anyway so i’d rather continue doing that and SAVE paper!
Anyway, that ends my post about my new tech toy to start 2011!
Model, TV host, actress and former Miss Malaysia Elaine Daly launched her collection of bags this afternoon.
Dubbed Daly Bags, the collection is sourced from Indonesia and are all made from beautifully dyed snake skin.
Elaine giving her lil speech. Hello Herve isdatchu?
Besides bags, there are also smaller items like BlackBerry covers and namecard holders.
Think they’d make great gifts.

My fave is the multicoloured clutch. For the obvious reason i gravitate towards bright colours!
The bags will be sold online in the coming months.
Join the mailing list at www.thedalystore.com if you’re interested in receiving updates and discounts.
MadcapperSa and Nadia will be launching their line of T-shirts soon too!
Check out their blog popmusesic.wordpress.com
Vivy stocks and sells pieces from various brands and designers (especially Malaysian ones) at FashionValet.net
Quite a few people commented on how they liked my dress just now,
i do tooย
It’s from Gallo’s SS10 collection and i spotted it on their sale rack at their Gardens outlet last week.
40% off woohoo!
There are a couple of pieces left (free size) if you’re interested hee hee
Last month, i was completely chuffed to be invited by Sonny Son to be one of his models at the Illuminare event.
He was to design each of us an individual outfit
– to suit our personalities
– inspired by the BlackBerry smartphone.
This is what he came up for meย
Sparkly sparkly!
A dress made of gold glomesh!
I couldn’t think of anything more apt,
as i’m always gravitating towards shiny things in store windows like a magpie!
SueAnn and a turtle
The event was held at KL Aquaria, which was a first.
I’ve never been to an event held there before!

Bel’s dress was SO HER – all feminie and soft with feathers and flounce.
She made me think of a black swan
All our outfits came with bits that lighted up.
i.e. Bel’s dress lit up in the middle (she claimed she could control it via breathing haha)
I had a pseudo cigarette holder, which everyone mistook for a fairy wandย
The whole front of Hannah’s dress was shimmering!
Xan got a lit headpiece that i thought suited her very well too
