Would be sorta impossible for you to not know about Sereni & Shentel.
Coverage of the BFFs from Borneo
and their luxe handmade candy-coloured headbands
has been all over the internet and various magazines
since S&S started taking off just last year!
Shentel + Sereni
I love love love the shots from their lookbook
and heard they had a big say in its direction.
Not surprising it turned out exquisite,
seeing Shentel is also a head graphic designer for her day job.
I can just imagine me prancing about on holiday wearing the purple one above!
The duo were in KL last week for a collaboration with Lancome.
So they threw a series of events for fashion and beauty.
Sorry i had to skip the fashion show one!

I went to a little get-together they had in Parkson Pavilion
where Lancome staff tested our skin with some canggih machine
to tell us how badly (or well) our skin was ageing / drying
and what Lancome products were most suitable for us to combat
those probs with.
ButtercupSharon having a go, Shentel on the right
Well i went for my turn,
and my diagnosis >
Pores = small = good!
Hydration = low = bad
Pigmentation = high = bad
-_-
Can’t help loving the sun,
i’m such a sunchaser on holidays.
I guess i have to choose between Chasing The Sun and Saving My Skin.
I erm actually veer towards Chasing The Sun >.<
So i have to compromise by getting all these products to Save My Skin.
Sereni + i
Free makeover which i didn’t go for.
Was only going for french class after that so no point :p
Buttercup + i
i wore >
fringe top + mustard tights; topshop
leopard print singlet; warehouse
bag + shoes; bimba & lola
i got this necklace made from two old coins off a tiny shop in Brick Lane.
Am rather fond of the 1942 farthing with a little bird on it!
Wore my mom’s old daisy bracelet out.
First time i’m wearing it in years…
am terrified of the clasp coming loose and it dropping somewhere!
It’s really old, made of thick metal and i’ve never seen anything like it anywhere else!
I’ve had a strange on and off relationship with chocolate.
My teenage years saw me scoffing chocolate
of every kind
at every opportunity.
Easter in UK was the best.
I’d collect all my chocolate presents together,
and greedily go through them alone in a matter of days.
Never before did i single-handedly consume
a life-sized chocolate bunny rabbit
a life-sized chocolate chicken sitting on a chocolate nest filled with chocolate eggs
countless chocolate bars and fingers.
All while curled up with a book.
Licking at chocolates + reading = glorious!
Maybe it was the OD-ing on chocolate that did me in.
For about 8 years after that,
i barely touched chocolate
and certainly didn’t buy any.
I don’t know what happened.
I just didn’t feel like eating chocolate anymore
(though i was certainly eating a lot of everything else!)
Just last year i started buying chocolate again
and indulging in desserts and sweets.
I just think it was a tastebud transition.
But i sure know how to go from one deep end to the other.
From not touching any desserts,
there i was craving tiramisu and eating it in bed
in the middle of the night no less
with the man shaking his head next to me.
And because i’ve suddenly reignited my love with sweets,
i immediately said YES when Valiram sent me an invite to their Godiva cafe in Pavilion.
Created in 1926 in Brussels,
Godiva (pronounced ‘goh-die-vah’) is also the official supplier
to the Royal Court of Belgium.
Now that’s saying something.
Their Chocolatier Cafe is on Level 2 in Pavilion,
and the only Godiva cafe in South East Asia.
Nothing like being spoilt with canapes, macaroons, chocs and tea for breakfast!
Yazeed (Brand Manager of Godiva) took us through Godiva’s history,
and did a small tour of the cafe.
While he was talking, i found myself standing next to trays of chocolate biscuits…
I felt like a school kid.
I couldn’t concentrate on what he was saying.
Kept on glancing at the biscuits and wondering how they’d taste.
And imagined my hand slowly creeping towards it.
Crazy choc thoughts.
Pictures speak louder than words.
Tasting speaks more than both.
Most of the cakes cost from RM15-18 per piece
Godiva has some special limited edition chocs and packages for Valentine’s Day…
True Love Heart Box 11 pcs + Moet Chandon Rose Imperial RM515
Then came the exciting part!
Godiva divided all members of the media into teams
for a friendly decorating contest!
I WAS SO EXCITED.
Two happy things – art and food!
The Godiva team demonstrated a few techniques on how they manipulated the flavoured sauces with spoon edges.
And i thought, “Woohoo i can’t wait to try!”
I was teamed with Aida from Glam,
and Nicola from Harper’s BAZAAR.
(Forgot to take pictures with them -_-
cos hands were busy wrapped in plastic gloves)
Each team got marmalade, strawberry and chocolate sauces,
crushed nuts, choc pieces and strawberries.
We were to carefully ladle the pieces of cakes to respective empty plates,
and decorate the plates.
Team with best overall design, cleanliness and creativity would win.
Aida said we could write where we’re from so we did,
with the exception of Nicola.
I don’t blame her tho, writing “Harper’s Bazaar” with sauce is pretty long!
I couldn’t help thinking the deco above ended up looking like balls.
Nicola said, “Oh they look like orchids!”
And in my head was just, “Balls balls balls…”
But i didn’t say it to her cos we’d just met :p
Our team won!ย
Thanks Godiva!
I had so much fun playing with the decorating,
and now i’ve got lots of chocs to scoff on in front of the TVย
I was on a major chocolate high after that event…
and was talking superfast and giggly for a good few hours.
Had the most magical long weekend!
It’s been months since Clem and i managed to have a holiday alone,
so we were trying our best to go away to the beach or forest.
Anywhere with nature.
Anywhere without cars and buildings.
Anywhere away from KL, really.
We were both psyched to go to Tioman,
but found out really last minute (after someone on the island finally picked up my calls)
that ’twas still monsoon season bla bla bla.
Freaked out on where to go,
and Kubhaer saved the (holi)day by suggesting Dusun.
Breakfast is provided, and each house comes with a kitchen for you to play masak masak.
We bought HEAPS of food to bring.
Ham, cheeses, rocket salad, eggs, tomatoes,
pastas, kettle salt + vinegar chips, smoked salmon,
minced meat, mushrooms, noodles, pears,
rillette, sausages…
I stared at the shopping cart wondering whether it was too much.
Then decided it’s always better to have too much food than not enough food on a holiday (or any day).
We’d booked Tembusu house and Helen (the owner) said she’d made a mistake in the bookings…
and wondered whether we could shift to Berembun house the day after.
I thought she was gonna ask whether someone could crash in our room
so her request turned out no trouble at all!
In fact, i loved the fact we managed to experience staying in two different houses there.
Tembusu House – pic by Jason Tan for Dusun
Tembusu House is further up on the hill,
and has a great patio to hang out on and have a BBQ.
Lots of space and light and trees. Love it.
We wandered down to the pool on our first afternoon there
and seeing noone else was swimming,
took the opportunity to spend ALL DAY THERE.
Dancing in the sunshine
dancing in the water
floating on our backs
chasing butterflies
drinking ice cold beer
Watching the clouds for a good hour
saw a woman with a sword
that turned into a man
a rabbit
a duck
a rabbit chasing a duck
a hole
a heart
We chased the sunlight till it said beddy bye for the day
My french kiddy book i brought to read happened to be very apt!
The next day we changed rooms… to the one that was RIGHT NEXT TO THE POOL.
Even better so we wouldn’t have to walk up the hill every time we forgot something.
Brekkie was provided – nasi lemak
Cassie and new Unnamed Bear from Aunty G
Munching on a sandwich in the sun ย
Wilson + wabbits
Reading in the sun…
beer and sweets on one side,
girlfriend on the other feeding you cold fruit…
some people have it so goodย
Taking a 20-minute walk to the river
admiring different shades of green along the way
taking in the hot sun
lathering up on sunblock as not to burn
stopping to drink water (as an excuse to rest)
losing our way a bit
climbing down rocks
dipping our feet in cold river water
gently touching a spiderweb as not to break it
watching a frog and wondering whether it was still alive
but it hopped!
so it was
