R is for Red FM

I had an afternoon radio interview with Red FM last week, thanks to my being one of the finalists for the Nuffnang Asia Pacific Blog Awards (which is happening this Friday!) I haven’t been on radio for awhile, but didn’t exactly have the time to be nervous cos i was so busy. Turned out to be incredibly fun, i don’t think i’ve had a more FUN radio interview! There didn’t seem to be enough time to say everything we wanted to talk about, and Linora and i looked like we could go on for a loooonggg time.

I just had to put up this picture cos i have such a great geek grin in it

I’m wearing silver slip and leggings from Topshop, and sheer shirt from Azorias.

With Linora of Red RM. She’s super chirpy and loud and oh, if i had to be that energetic every single afternoon i’d need lots and lots of caffeine.

With Nash and Pei Yi. Nash said he’s been reading my blog since 2006! How awesome is that!

R is for Rodial

Rodial is a dermatologically-tested skincare range that offers an alternative to cosmetic surgery and injections. It might pique your interest to know that it’s been used by celebs like Victoria Beckham, Beyonce, Angeline Jolie and Sarah Jessica Parker!

The brand just opened an outlet in BSC where they also carry out facials, and invited me over to test out their range. I declined the facial because i was too busy (i know right, who turns down a free facial!) but i did go home with two products courtesy of Rodial:

Glam Balm™, RM250
Rodials’ Glam Balm™ is said to be the cult product that can be used for face, lips, hands and even hair ends. Containing myrrh extract and Vitamin C, it plumps up collagen and smooths out wrinkles. It can be applied every night as an intensive treatment for 4 weeks, in flights, or even as after-sun treatment.

Stretch MX, RM310
This complex formula of fruit actives and scientific peptides helps fade the appearance of stretch marks and strengthens the dermal layer with collagen.

You can view the entire range of skin, body and bath care products on www.rodial.com.my.

To test the products in person; there’s a Rodial counter in Robinsons, Gardens Mid Valley, and an outlet upstairs at BSC.

R is for Reindeer

During a random chat with Cammy, she sent me an image of the CUTEST reindeer for sale in GE Mall. She was buying it for her boss to put in their office and i impulsively asked her to get one for me too, seeing i was meeting her later for dinner.

When i went to get it from her car that night, i was stunned to see how FREAKING BIG the reindeer was!
Me: “OH MY GOD! It’s so big!!! …. … Clem is going to kill me.”
Cammy: “Didn’t you see the picture i sent you… there were little christmas trees NEXT to it.”

I checked the picture she sent, which was taken from a high angle so the reindeer looked a LOT shorter then. And no, i did not see the little christmas trees next to it cos they were SO little i could barely see they were trees! I thought they were just… something on the ground.

Clem was outstation for work so i didn’t have to tell him about my giant purchase… yet. Aps thought i should put the reindeer (which i named Alfred btw) right next to him while he sleeps so he’d wonder what was this THING doing next to him when he woke up. But plotting to hide and put a reindeer next to him was too much effort, what with the little sleep i was getting myself last week.

So i decided to place it in the shower of our spare bathroom. And forgot about it. Till he came home, found it and shouted, “Putain! What the fuck is this!?”

We need 10,000 fans to get Yuna to perform!!!

Comments (1) Sponsored Post

I first heard Malaysian singer-songwriter Yuna sing at Urbanscapes a few years back, and was absolutely STUNNED by her voice. I just knew she was going to make it big. Fast forward two years later and she’s hanging out with hip hop superstars like Pharrell in NYC. Crazy awesome for a Malaysian to break through into the scene there!

I have both albums she’s released so far, and actually bought them myself from Rock Corner. My favorite song from her thus far is Backpacking Around Europe, but she doesn’t have an official vid for that so i’m posting another one instead.

What i love about Yuna is that not only is she well known in the music industry, but on the fashion scene as well! If you didn’t already know, she owns and sources for her boutique – IAmJetFuel – and has achieved over 1,000 hypes on some of her LookBook uploads.

For those of you who haven’t been fortunate enough to catch her sing live (she’s one of those singers that bedazzle their audience live), Yuna will be collaborating with Malaysia’s No.1 pre-paid mobile provider Hotlink – to bring to you the first online concert!

The concert will be held on Wednesday 14 December, and will be streamed on the website at exactly 8pm.

Just like a concert, there are a number of ‘seats’ available, so you have to pre-book your spot on the website www.nowyoucan.my/yuna.

But unlike any concert, this has to be a collaborative effort between 10,000 fans to get it going! There are 10,000 spots available and there MUST be 10,000 fans who book their seats. Once you secure your seat, you gotta make sure you log on between 7pm and 7.59pm to experience the exclusive viewing.

I went to check out the press conference for it last Tuesday @ The Bee, Jaya One.

Yuna said, “I’m really glad to be part of this project with Hotlink.  It really is a unique effort to engage and collaborate with the online community. There are a few more fun bits that viewers and the public can get involved in, but we will reveal it when the time comes!”

T. Kugan, Maxis’ Head of Product, Device, Innovation & Roaming, said, “Yuna graciously agreed to work with us on this project to deliver an online performance to her fans who make up a big chunk of our Hotlink subscribers. We also felt that our collaboration should extend further to include our Maxis subscribers as well. With their support to get online and express their intent, Yuna will share with them a performance of a yet-to-be-released track.”

That’s right! Yuna’s gonna debut a new track to the public next Wednesday!
So make sure you book your spot at the first People Powered Concert in the world.

Letter to The Star Editor

Comments (11) Media

I get lots of emails from people asking me to post up letters, promos and announcements. All of which i usually decline else it’d clutter up my blog. But this letter pulled at my heartstrings cos i hate wastage. I recycle every single scrap that goes through my apartment and a little part of me dies inside every time i see styrofoam lunch boxes.

Eddie sent this letter to the Star but got no reply so he asked whether i would post it here since they seem to have no regard for it. And i willingly said yes.

Dear Sir,

Re: The Star’s Bid & Win

To celebrate the Star’s 40th Anniversary, the national newspaper has launched a “Bid & Win Series” where various denomination of points(from 100 to 500 points) can be collected every day for 14 days and the highest” bidder” with the most points gets a chance to win prizes. A quick calculation shows that even if the maximum 500 points was available daily for the entire 14 days, this will only total to 7,000 points and with 4 series until 5th January, the maximum total points is 28,000 points. In the so-called first “Diamond” series, the first 4 prizes are from 3,000 to 6,500 points while the remaining 4 prizes are from 9,000 to 22,500 points. If a 46” LED TV and Osim massage chair requires 20,000 points and 22,500 points respectively and assuming the cost is RM10k, how many points will be needed for the grand prize of the Peugeot car which has a cost of RM 218k – more than 436,000 points?  So what will and has happened – the Star has leveraged on the greed of its readers to purchase multiple copies (not in the tens but in the hundreds) to try to get more points. Under the guise of its 40th Anniversary, the Star’s sales and marketing team has to be commended for this strategy in increasing its sales and circulation multiple fold with even road shows where the public can purchase hundreds of copies of the Star just to cut out and collect the points. What is the implication?

a)     The Star is promoting and encouraging wasteful spending when under the present economic situation, it should be following the Government’s lead to advise the people to spend wisely and buy what is needed.

b)     The Star is expending energy in terms of power and raw materials as well as manpower to produce a product that is only wanted for a 4.5” x 3” paper cut-out. Shouldn’t the Star, as a responsible national newspaper, be advocating reduction in use of natural resources – energy efficiency, using less paper and cut down fewer trees? All these power and raw materials used to produce an increased quantity of product that is neither necessary nor needed.

c)     What will the person(s) who bought a few hundred copies of the Star newspaper do with them? The tens of hundreds if not thousands of copies of newspaper become a waste product (hopefully recycled).  Shouldn’t the Star be advocating reduction in waste generation, rather than the opposite?

How does this tie in with the Star’s Corporate Social Responsibility? How is this not contrary to their Environmental Responsibility and their Environmental Policy or their Environmental Management Systems and the ISO 14000? Could the conduct and promotion of such an event be considered environmentally friendly or environmentally sustainable?

60 Hours

Comments (1) Work

In the past 60 hours i:
wrote 3x advertorials
wrote 7x blogposts
spent 12 hours in the office
slept 10 hours overall
had a radio interview
1x fitting
2x meetings
1x press conference
1x event

My eye bags are beyond salvation.

Don’t get me wrong though, i’m NOT complaining. I’m grateful for all this work that i have, and instead of stressing like i used to, i make sure i organize everything by the hour and plough through each task one at a time. Okay i lie. Most times i’m doing two things at once. I tried working on KBF on my laptop while waiting for a press con to start. I work on KBF during my lunch break in the office. And when i DO have proper time to work on KBF at home, i’m researching and writing 2x posts simultaneously.

It’s all good.

Cos i’m going to Phuket tomorrow weeheee!!! Work hard and play even harder mothertrucker.

Ok, i lie again. I’m bringing my laptop to work there so i won’t buckle under the pressure when i come home.

I need to stop writing, i’m cuckoo-wackadoodle from lack of sleep.
