Food, glorious food! What wouldn’t we give for that extra bit more. That’s all that we live for.

It’s going to be a VERY BAD idea for you to read this post if you are due for a meal. I was half dying while uploading the pictures below with my taste buds reminiscing what i’d had. God knows WHY i saved so many food pictures into a folder, and didn’t really plan to post them, was just putting everything in order. And since they are there – i thought WHY NOT just blog all the stuff i’ve eaten in the past month!

A day before Valentine’s Day, Clem and i went to try Aria @ Bukit Damansara. I’ve been there before with my girls, but first time with him. Since it was V-Day eve, we managed to try their specials:

I had the tonnarelli – black spaghetti with jumbo crab meat, green olives and garlic in light tomato sauce. Crab meat servings were extremely generous. I could just about finish the plate!

Grilled lamb roulade that Clem had. I was so full that i didn’t try the skin (he doesn’t eat that stuff)… which i should have when the waiter cleared the plate away with a slightly appalled look on his face. We were told later it’s the best part. Shame on me!!

////////////////////////////////////

For our 2nd year anniversary, Clem took me to Prime @ Le Meridien. I’ve been talking about how i want him to try it since i had it (also) with the girls, and we just never got to it… till now!

It looks tiny but it’s damn filling. Trust.

Oh the steak is as SUBLIME as i remembered! Maybe even better. We both ordered it rare and i suggest you do the same if you ever eat there! The only thing that put me off was that it seemed really casual for a nice restaurant. Maybe cos it was Sunday night. But for the price we paid, we expected a fine dining experience… which was what we did get thrown in with really loud Chinese aunties talking, phones ringing (ugh! hate that!) and the waiter calling us ‘guys’. Twice.

The meat made up for it all tho. That’s how good Prime steak is. If you LOVE STEAK. YOU MUST TRY PRIME.

////////////////////////////////////

I’m currently addicted to the shrimp pasta diablo at Vin’s TTDI. I’ve taken bites off my friends’ plates and they’re all really good, but i just haven’t veered off my habitual order just yet. Plus point: the waiters are the friendliest in KL.

////////////////////////////////////

I still do a takeaway from Fat Spoon when i’m craving their spicy beef noodles.

////////////////////////////////////

Went to eat at Acme @ Troika for Brenda’s birthday

We had a really good night and i’m planning more one-on-one girlie dinners now! I expected more from my dish, maybe i just ordered the wrong thing. Been meaning to return but after taking 90 minutes to drive there the first time, i just haven’t been able to bear the thought of going through the same traffic to do so.

////////////////////////////////////

Thanks to Carole who invited me to Estate @ Intermark for a girl’s night out thingamajig.

I’m wearing: silver slip and leggings from Topshop; purple silk top from sevendays; necklace from Kyla Ruiz.

First time i was at Estate was after a fashion event and it was cool that this time round, the day was perfect for me to bring Flore (Clem’s sis who’s in town) along with me. We left Clem at home since it was a girlie thing hee hee.

Besides, i don’t know how he’d feel about being served desserts by half-naked male models.

Flore, dessert, and i. I have to add that it was very unappealing to see so many older women flock around the male models like meat and erm one even smeared dessert cream on his chest. They’re still people you know!

We ordered a triple cheese pizza to go with our champers and desserts cos we’re champion like that!

////////////////////////////////////

One random night i cooked a pasta with whatever i had in the fridge and sorta ‘made up’ my own recipe. After a year plus (?) of cooking i can finally say that i can at least know how to make do with whatever ingredients i have into a yummeh pasta!

Fried mince meat in garlic and onions, then mixed with yellow peppers and mushrooms that were cook separately. Dividing is key.

////////////////////////////////////

We have food brought from France stocked at home, and even more so now thanks to Flore who brought more than i ever imagined *i* could transport back! RESPECT AND LOVE!!!

We love viande des grison so much that it’s equally divided between Clem and i. He likes to stuff everything in his mouth (to the horror of the delayed gratification goddess in me) whereas i like to savor and munch mine slowly…

Oh putainnnn i was eating the above and couldn’t stop moaning and rolling around on the sofa in bliss. I exclaimed so many times to Clem, “Oh my god. I LOVE YOUR SISTER.”

So that’s some of my pigginess for the past month. MY STOMACH IS GROWLING SO BAD NOW.

An awesome Saturday that i hope comes again soon…

Comments (0) La la la

This particular Saturday happened a couple of weeks back and i edited the pictures but just didn’t have time to post them… so here they are!!! Twas a great Saturday cos i did SO MANY things that were productive AND enjoyable. And i got some time alone to wander around an empty mall (which i miss, cos Clem hates window-shopping so we never do it).

First i woke up and headed to a clinic where i had to do a medical check up for insurance purposes. Then i went for a powerplate class. After that i met up with Claudia for lunch and catch up. She had three guinnesses whereas i stayed sober seeing i had to go over some contracts later that day -_- Right after Clouds, i had said meeting with a lawyer for some property i’m buying. I’ve never initialed and signed so many contracts in one sitting in my life. After he left it was only 4pm! I felt like i’d done so much cos i usually stay in and bond with my couch.

Seeing i was already in Publika, i wandered around a bit and stumbled on to The Odd Loft, this cute little boutique upstairs.

They sell authentic vintage paper dresses! Really expensive tho… If i bought it i’d want to open it to see, and i think that would defeat the purpose of buying a RM200+ vintage paper dress (read: invest)  0_o

Vintage sunnies! Very cool. About RM200+ as well.

I couldn’t resist these great pseudo-vintage tin boxes that were brought back from US. RM75 each.

After that i looked for a massage place to reward myself just because. It was kinda hard to find one cos Publika is still so new and pretty big, but didn’t regret walking around like a lost dog cos i found Banyan Tree Spa which is run by Thais.

It was so good that i went in for a 1-hour foot massage. And ended up asking for a 1-hour body massage too.

After the massage i rushed to see my family for dinner. Clem didn’t come cos he was way hungover from hanging out with Rahul the night before. Every time Clem says he’s seeing Rahul i don’t expect him to come home before 5am -_- Said seafood woulda made him sick so lalala you missed out cos my brother bought dinner!

Nick suggested we go to this seafood restaurant called Wong Poh, which can give La La Chong a run for its money. Crazy crowded but the food arrived in mere minutes. Amazing. Shame to other restaurants which have only a few tables of people but take one hour to serve food.

After dinner, Clem and i went to sevenatenine @ Ascott where we totally missed Atilia’s performance. Anyway we wanted to see Serena and Matt more!

Serena + Jit

Our frenchies

Yasmin and i. My dress is from Azorias.

I used to be quite scared of Andrea cos she sometimes has this gila lancee face. But after knowing her, she’s no bitch-ass beauty queen on the inside! In fact, she’s the one who convinced us all to go to Rootz later that night. I can’t remember when was the last time we impulsively went clubbing like that. Those are always the best nights out! Thanks to Jit, who was like a boss and sorted out our sweet table. We even had chaperones that walked us to the bathrooms!

Yasmin, CC and i

Laterrrrr after that Serena and Matt came over to ours where i cooked them supper. Matt promptly passed out after eating. And this is what happens if you pass out in my house and i’m still awake.

Reminds me of the time Ryan and Jason passed out in London, but not as bad.

[from press release]

For no. 2 – the Sensual fragrance – Ralph Lauren got the owner and chef of Bistro à Table, Isadora, to be its ambassador.

After talking to us about the Big Pony Collection for women, we all got a surprise cooking lesson from Isadora with chocolate – an ingredient that tantalizes love and sensuality 😉

Once our little lesson was over, we were each given gloves, chocolate and cocoa powder to make our own truffles!

Fiona

After a bit o practice, i discovered that the trick is to press the choc REALLY hard before rolling it into a ball so it doesn’t fall apart.

I made about 8 but put a few into my mouth so i think in the end, i had 5 truffles to take home.

Isadora

Never hurts to have oysters and wine to boost one’s energy levels at a morning event XD

Big Pony Fragrance Collection for Women Price: 100ML – RM 240; 50ML – RM190

That day i wore:
cape top; topshop
pink + gold tweed skirt; azorias
metal cuff flats; gallo by thian
silver leather headband; thirtyfour

Damn being a girl sometimes.

Comments (6) Emo, Health

I always thought women exaggerated the extent of PMS when i was younger. How was this possible? *I* didn’t get it! It must be rubbish and an excuse for terrible behaviour and attitude. This naive opinion went hand-in-hand with my disdain and disinterest for period cramps cos i never got any. In the past, i’d never think of admitting that PMS exists. I saw it as a sign of weakness in women.

I must have jinxed myself. Cos just recently since i was 28, i’ve been getting the most terrible cramps and PMS. Today was one of those days i just hate life, everybody and myself. I hate work. I hate all my clients. I hate Clem. I hate me. I had a sudden thought of committing suicide. It’s crazy!

Clem would be talking to me nonchalantly and i’ll be sitting there silently thinking “WHAT a stupid thing to say. UGH i hate you!” Then i’d catch myself after and think HOW COULD I THINK THAT!? Then work piled on from different directions for every thing that i chose to delve into, and i had a sudden breakdown on the rooftop of my office. Luckily only one colleague was there to witness the horror that lasted 20 seconds.

I decided to blame it all on my hormones. And stuck my head back into where i usually belong – i’m happy! i CHOOSE to do all of this cos it makes me happy and i WANT IT! It’s just my FUCKING hormones that have got me emo/teary/stressed/angry about EVERYTHING. ANYTHING is to BLAME in my books! It’s true how they say men have to tread carefully around women during this time of the month. And i PITY them!

The good thing is that today is Clem’s birthday so i had to be extra conscious to be nice. I cooked him a birthday dinner while having shiraz. And it helped a lot. It also got me to thinking what a JOKE the universe had in store.

The reason why women have PMS, is because the body is preparing the hormone progesterone when it prepares to have a baby every month. This accounts for half of the month for some women. Does this mean some women have spent HALF their LIVES being on some UNHAPPY PILL?!

DAMN.

DAMN THE MAN.

Why couldn’t the Universe come up with a hormone that caused giddy happiness and euphoria; instead of bloating and water retention, mood swings, irritability, anxiety, tiredness, tension, crying spells, depression, breast tenderness, acne, headaches, diarrhoea, and dizziness?

Just writing that got me ANGRY! (As you can tell, i’m due to have the painters in tomorrow)

The positive side of me stepped in momentarily – there MUST be a reason why we were made this way. And the only reason i could think of, of why the Universe made us so insane to throw off men, is because only the men who truly love us could withstand us when we’re like this. Maybe it’s just nature’s way for women to find the right man. (Okay. even as i wrote that i realized how far i’m going with this. I’m going to stop now.)

More of nature’s facts for you: Problems before just your period – tender breasts, achy back, heavy legs – are usually caused by estrogen attracting fluid, and salt imbalance causing sensitivity. There are weirder ones – stabbing inside your hip bones when you sneeze? Your ligaments stretching? Electric shocks in your breasts? Excess fluid may be pressing on a nerve. Killer aches on once side of your tummy mid-month? “Some women can tell which side they ovulate from,” says a Dr called Marion Gluck.

Dr Ashley Grossman, professor of endocrinology (say what?!) at the University of Oxford, explains irritable bowel syndrome, “Progesterone is a muscle relaxant. In pregnancy, it relaxes the womb. However, some women are very sensitive to it, and it can have a similar effect on the bowel causing constipation.”

“Progesterone in the second half of the cycle affects the brain, as it’s a steroid, and most women experience mood changes like crying and irritability.”

So just wanted to say: we’re not crazy! Just BLAME IT ON THE HORMONES! (And try not to commit suicide.)

And to the men: YOU SHOULD BE SO LUCKY you don’t have to go through this! We don’t mean to be psycho and when it happens, just ponder for a while when her period is due and maybe, just maybe, you could find some kindness in you to forgive us instantaneously.
