Bangkok Girlies Trip 2013

Comments (2) Bangkok, Thailand, Travel

I went to Bangkok to source for things for my upcoming online store… and i daresay i have found my superpower!
I really think SHOPPING is my superpower!

I went alone for the first few days cos i needed to get things done before my girls arrived on Friday, and i’d take a long time buying stock cos i have to check each piece individually for defects and i don’t want to make them wait (not like i would make them anyway!). So i flew in on Tuesday and stayed in a hotel with big floorspace so i could sort my stuff out.

It was quite hectic. I would wake up at 9am, make my way to Platinum Mall, buy till 4pm, have my first meal then (i just didn’t feel the desire to eat when i had to shop!), then continue buying till 7 or 8pm when i was getting tired. Lug everything home, start my stock count, break for dinner around 9pm, continue stock count and blog till 2am.

Then i’d do it all over again the next day.

The most power night was Thursday… cos i REALLY WANTED to finish all my work before the girls arrived, and ended up working till 5am. Felt a bit dead the next day but it was worth it cos we had a great weekend of bonding, childish bickering, shopping, massages, and partying!

FIRST, i really need to thank Tai Yong and the WONDERFUL Thais he introduced me to, who took really good care of everything we girls needed to make our trip so much better than we expected!

Giving myself a break.

I was in Bangkok for a whole week, partially to stock up for my new store, and Friday onwards was when my girls joined me for a girlie weekend (will blog about it later). Since i got back, i’ve been trying not to think about work. Trying not to set myself all these personal deadlines that i always do and end up stressing myself out about. I’ve been trying to take it slow… ever since my bad bout with allergies for a few weeks (will blog about that later too!). I’ve been eating healthier, and i feel quite awesome about it. I feel the difference in my body. Clem is terrified i’ll become a vegetarian (no… i’m not gonna be so hardcore yet!) but more importantly, i am learning on how to put aside time to LOVE MYSELF. Making more effort preparing healthy food for myself, taking time to plan my upcoming workouts, taking time to just CHILL and not ALWAYS be on my emails and plotting this and that.

Today i had an hour to kill before a meeting in Centrio to sign my insurance claims (cos i had to go to the hospital for my allergies). What could i do for an hour? I stared at my nails and felt i badly needed a manicure. But the only reason i would need one is cos i have a shoot tomorrow morning. Besides that, i have no other reason to do my nails and honestly, i don’t feel like sitting down somewhere and having toxins being spread on my fingernails (ok i’m just having an extreme phase with toxins) right now. So i thought i’d go for a massage cos my body still felt achy from the Bangkok trip, and went to Sifu.

I was telling the guy who was gonna massage me where i felt the most aches on my lower back, and he was so nice saying he’ll try his best to make my back better, that i asked his name.

He said, “Najib.”
I replied, “Cool. My name is Joyce.”
He went, “Joyce… Joyce Kirsten Wong??”
And i was like, “Yes…..?!” (eek?)
“You have a blog right?”
“Yes…”
“You don’t remember me?”
“Er…” ย (oh no, this happens to me a lot)
“It’s me! Willy’s friend…”

Then i’m like Ohhhhh! Of course i remember you! The blind guy who massaged me last time!
“You look different!” i said.
“Yeah i cut my hair… By the way, i want to say thank you for writing about me on your blog. One or two months ago, someone came in here saying they read your post and asked for me.”

I was like, “AWWWWW that’s awesome!”
I wrote that post in May 2011! *Here it is*

I felt so lucky that Najib massaged me today… i think it was meant to be cos i don’t go to Sifu as much anymore, and on a day i felt i needed some healing he was assigned to me ๐Ÿ˜€

And you know… two years on, he’s got even BETTER at massaging.
He just knew and felt all these painful points in my back that felt SO GREAT when he pressed it out slowly.

Now that i AM GOING TO REMEMBER HIS NAME, i’m gonna ask for him every time i visit Sifu… and you should too if you go okay! He’s so awfully nice and has hands of an angel. I swear on fairies.

A new page to bookmark… Lussonet!

There’s nothing that gives me a thrill like a good bargain.
When i’m on The Hunt, it’s the ONLY time i can abstain from water and food and other distractions.
I guess you could say it’s my form of prayer XD

Buying online is awesome for great deals on designer stuff,
but sometimes you can’t be sure of whether there are defects in the clothing,
and other times, you have to “pre-order” the good stuff and wait till you forget you’ve bought it by the time it arrives.

Please tell me it happens to you too :p
Or else i’ll just put it down to my bad memory again.

Anyway, the main point of my writing this post is a new website which might be of interest to all you shopaholics out there: Lussonet

It’s one of those members-only private shopping websites that hold flash sales on selected designer labels for a limited period of time.

What makes Lussonet different from other flash sale sites… are the brands it holds, thanks to Alicia (the co-founder).

Alicia was working in the accounting sector in U.S. before following her dreams to start her own company dealing with fashion. Thanks to her (and the other Lussonet founders’) time in the States, she decided to bring home all the labels she fell in love with there – likeย Trina Turk, Amrita Singh, Tracy Reese, Kain Label, etc!

So don’t expect a website that holds all the giant brands like Chanel, LV, Prada, etc; this website is for those who appreciate designer labels that are lesser known in South East Asia (unless you read Vogue US).

All their pieces are securely flown into Malaysia and are ready-at-hand to post out immediately, so no frustration and waiting when you REALLY WANNA wear THAT dress THIS weekend.

Some labels that are on sale now! >>>

Tracy Reese:

“Inspired by all things vintage, vibrant and ultra-feminine, Tracy Reese’s iconic patterned dresses and skirts have sewn up an ever-growing fanbase with big names such as Halle Berry and First Lady Michelle Obama spotted in the list.

Launched in 1998, the esteemed designer’s womenswear and accessories label have been featuring frothy frocks and print-driven heirloom designs that are garnished with distinctive details such as lace panels, precise drapes, metallic trims and more.

Apart from that, Reese’s signature creations include fine leather handbags and shoes, hand-beaded wedding dresses a la 1920s as well as luxurious bedding styles. To complement her main line, she has also introduced Plenty by Tracy Reese as one of her diffusion labels. ”

I love Tracy Reese’s stuff! Want want want and want!

Kain Label

“Born in the high-lifestyle city of Los Angeles, KAIN Label started as a callback to everyone’s beloved vintage tees with a new, contemporary twist. Today, KAIN’s iconic drapes and details are made to give their wearers an effortlessly sexy silhouette, fusing in high fashion and luxury with comfort and style.

The KAIN philosophy believes that the simpler the piece, the quicker it becomes a favourite piece as what feels and looks good is guaranteed to make a mark.”

Blaque Label

“Standing out as a favourite among Hollywood stars and fashion elites, Blaque Label reflects luxury and practicality for today’s cosmpolitan women.

Since 2009, this USA-based designer line has been featuring modern, contemporary takes on classic shapes and silhouettes. Whether you’re looking for a glamorous piece for a night out or a relaxed design to suit your weekend getaways, this globally-known label has cleverly combined an assortment of styles to suit just about any lifestyle you live.”

Blaque Label’s also stocked on some of my favourite online shops like Shopbop and RevolverClothing!

Lovers + Friends

“Ambitious. Fun. Sexy. Confident. Constantly inspired by the laid back Los Angeles lifestyle in which the brand was founded, Lovers + Friend exudes ease and wearability, creating an effortlessly chic look that is California cool.

Although our roots are on the west coast our designs grab the attention of fashionistaโ€™s worldwide. From Venice beach to the streets of Manhattan, our clothes allow you to go from boho-chic to city sleek in seconds. Whether sporting her flawless blazer look to the office or a flowly floral dress while digging her toes in the sand, she always radiates confidence and grace with a side of sexy.”

Menard Embellir

Comments (1) Spa + Beauty

*ย written by SweetEeย *

To be honest, I wasn’t quite familiar with the brand Menard until I did a little research on them. So far they’ve only been sold in beauty salons, and just recently launched their own Menard Facial Salon at Plaza Damas. (The brand has actually been around since 1959, and in Malaysia for more than 15 years.)

Menard is introducing the first skin care range in the world using Red reishi and Black reishi extract: Menard Embellir.

The word Embellir is French for “make someone or something more attractive”. Therefore the Embellir product range aims to prevent aging of skin cells and tregain youthful appearances with the main ingredient – Reishi mushrooms.

Reishi mushrooms are really common in Chinese culture and is called LingZhi. It has been considered by Chinese to be a high quality herbal medicine that can improve one’s constitution, increase body’s healing ability, maintain a healthy body and have a long life.

After intensive research on these mushrooms, Menard developed the Embellir skin care range utilizing both black reishi and red reishi. The reishi extract helps to rejuvenate the skin, serves as the active division of cells, is anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant with great moisturizing effects.
