What are your hidden talents?

Comments (5) Personal Development

I’ve been going in and out of a terrible fever since this morn, but am feeling better right now (9pm).
I had to skip KL Fashion Week, but forced myself through two meetings.
Right after those meetings, i bumped into two people very randomly at Fat Spoon.
One a friend, and one a stranger.

The friend and i shared an incredibly similar story today.
Except that she was on the other side of the fence,
so we both learnt from each other what it felt like being the other person.
I go to Fat Spoon all the freaking time, and don’t think i’ve seen her there, ever.
It’s like just when i needed her, she was there.

When i was outside having a smoke (i swear i’m trying to quit again in July), i overhead a guy ask a girl: “What are you hidden talents?”
And she replied, “I have none.”

I felt a surge of indignation rise within me.
Usually i’d feel like saying something, but feel shy/afraid, and decide not to.
But i’ve been trying to let go of my fear recently (how people think of me, whether i’m making the right choice) and just trust that what i feel THEN is the right thing.

So i turned around and blurted out, “Can i interject?”
And the guy said, “Please do.”
I swivelled my attention to the girl and said, “You can’t say you don’t have any hidden talents. Everyone has them. You need to be confident in yourself, fight through that fear and ask yourself, ‘what do i enjoy doing? what am i good at that already comes natural to me, or my friends and family say i do well?’ You need to sit alone and think about those questions.”

The guy then asked me, “So what are your hidden talents?”
I thought about my blog… and how i connect with people and said, “Reaching out to people.”
He aptly replied, “As you’ve obviously just shown.”

They said thanks, but really, i have them to thank for too.
Because of them, i thought to myself, “What ARE my hidden talents?”
Once i know what they are, then i can use them to lead me on how to live my life.

So far i’ve come up with: reaching out to people, inspiring people, and spreading joy.
If you think i have something else within me, feel free to tell me 😀

So a good question for you to ponder on today…

What are YOUR hidden talents?

Eva my angel.

I always see the numbers “444” around me.

Whether it’s in the time shown in various places,
or on a magazine page,
or number of whatsapp messages that have accumulated in a group chat,
or number of unread emails…

The Chinese in me used to go “die die die! Noooo” (cos “4” means “say” = die = unlucky la, don’t put those numbers on your car) but i recently got more relaxed about it. Even more so after Dhanya told me that it’s the number of the angels. And it’s so weird that now i know it stands for the angels watching over me, i see it even more often now, sometimes even twice a day.

I totally believe in angels. I feel like there are so many instances i should have died cos i’m admittedly a bit reckless with my life at times. You think cats have 9 lives? I believe i’ve got 109.

After touching down from Phuket yesterday evening, i got settled in and had a big catch up with Aps and Clem cos there was so much BURSTING outta me. I was painfully exhausted. I know it’s due to the emotional + spiritual transformation i’ve gone thru in the past month, and all the traveling thrown in. My friends from Italy (Beatrice and Mario) are in town for this week only, and after the amazing time they had shown me in Bologna, i really WANTED to show them a good time in KL. We went to Malay restaurant Tupai-Tupai, then KLCC, Little India, for some tapas in Telawi, then a much-needed massage in Sifu.

I was painfully aware of all my aches on my body. I’ve NEVER had aches like these before… they were spread all across my sides and back, and even on the front of my neck. I did something so insane (like, i would never think i’d do this, but hey, never say never)… i actually started meditating in KLCC while walking from the bathroom cos i felt like i was going to collapse some time around 4pm.

Now, i’m not very good at meditation or anything, it’s just something i’ve started trying out since early this month. I feel like it actually WORKS in an inexplainable but take-it-or-leave-it way. So i closed my eyes and IMAGINED energy flowing into me. Right there. Somewhere on the 3rd floor in KLCC. And believe or not… i feel like i summoned up a bit more energy in me to continue till the night.

We all decided to have a massage in Bangsar cos every one was hungover or exhausted. The 3 of them were hungover cos i got Sweet Ee to take them out for drinks since i wasn’t around yesterday.

SweetEe: “Can i come in a bit later for work the next day if we drink till late?”
Me: “OF COURSE. In fact, take them out as long as you want. Maybe they’ll be so hungover i get a bit more time to do work in the morning.”

(JAHAT. Ok, but it worked.)

So since  Beatrice + Mario + Dav were hungover and i was hurting, we all went for a massage, and the masseuse who treated me was an ANGEL. I swear he was an angel. In fact, i’m just gonna say now that all masseuses are angels! Who else has the job of touching people and ridding them of negative energies and pains?

I tried to meditate as he started kneading my shoulders – thanking him in my head, and imagining the negative energy flowing out from my body into the ground. I think i managed to do that for about 3 quarters of the massage (after that i couldn’t help my thoughts swaying).

And you know what? My body feels like brand new… my slight fever dissipated, tho i still have a slight sore throat and cough (as with half of the people who went to Afest cos we TALKED so much). And i swear i could just FEEL him making so much effort to right my bodily wrongs.

Ok that’s all i wanted to say. I NEED TO SLEEP NOW cos tomorrow is another crazy hectic day… meetings, fashion week, taking friends out, and… i still haven’t got to the HUNDREDS of unread emails in my inbox.

It’s ok. Tomorrow is a brand new day.

What’s in your bag at klia2!?

Comments (1) Sponsored Post

I just know i’m gonna be spending a lot of time in the new klia2.
I just know it.
Well, of course i will, cos i fly via low cost travel as much as i do vice versa!

If you’re a bit blur, klia2 is the newest RM4 billion international airport hub that is designed to cater 45 million passengers a year.
It will have 60 gates, 80 aerobridges, 8 remote stands, and get this… a retail space of 32,000 sqm for 225 retail outlets!

I now proclaim this as a danger zone. Dangerous for me, that is.
One of my biggest weaknesses is shopping impulsively and god knows how many times i’ve bought sunglasses, clothes, shoes and chocolates in airports the world over.

To introduce the amazing shopping haven that is to be in klia2, there is a VERY INTERESTING contest going on called What’s In Your Bag?

The Prizes: RM5K worth of shopping will be given away TO 1x PERSON, EVERY DAY FOR 15 DAYS.
So that means i have 15 shots at winning RM5,000 worth of shopping for MYSELF. Mwahahaha…
On top of that, there is ONE lucky winner that will win him/herself RM25k worth of shopping at klia2!

All i had to do was pick all the products on the klia2 website to my heart’s desire, and cross my fingers.

There is SO much to choose from!
Imagine, klia2’s retail selections include food, beverage, lifestyle, fashion, electronics, duty-free, non-duty-free, etc.

Here are SOME of the products I picked…

You’d be surprised at how quickly you can reach your RM5K budget… I wanted to pick some Royal Selangor stuff but if i did, i’d have run out of all my credit in one shot. Now i understand why it would make sense to give away RM25K worth of shopping…!

How You Can Enter:
1. Visit www.whatsinyourbag.my/en
2. A pop-up will appear “giving you” a budget of RM5000 to shop with
3. Browse the main website and “add to cart” everything you’d like, up to RM5000!
4. Once you’re done, proceed to checkout, where upon successful completion, you’ll automatically be entered into a lucky draw with everything you’ve purchased.

DONE!

You get to fantasize all the things you’re gonna get (it’s great therapy by the way) and hope you win!
Contest runs ONLY from 9th June to 23rd June, so you and I basically only have 15 days to try our luck winning the RM5k worth of shopping OR be that one lucky winner!

Jeju, Korea: Beach, Spirited Garden, & local wine

Comments (7) Jeju, Korea, Travel

Korea is so cute.
The first hint of how cute it is, was on my domestic flight from Seoul bound for Jeju.

This is the placard they have in front of every seat on the plane >

The smoking room in the airport has inspiring words plastered all over it,
giving a glimpse into what may be Koreans’ more highly regarded characteristics.

After i checked into my awesome orchard guesthouse, i rested for an hour (it was an overnight flight where i didn’t sleep much) before catching a taxi to explore Jeju for the first time!

jeju-korea-2

Despite how big the island is, Jeju has perfectly-paved roads. I don’t think i experienced a single pothole. That’s Korean efficiency for you :p (It was hard going back to Malaysia and being jolted back to certain things that aren’t so smoothly-run!)

If you love nature, you’ll love Jeju to no end…

I’m honestly not a selfie kinda person, but i resort to it when traveling alone 😀

My first meal in Jeju was a seafood hotpot in a restaurant just outside Halim park.

After lunch i took a walk to the beach just across Halim park, which as you can see is really massive and beautiful!!!
