After running around non-stop since mid-August, i have finally started to miss being at home.
I miss writing, and playing with my hoop, and dancing, and attempting to sing.
Realised i’ve been keeping myself so busy with work and events, that i’ve let my balance slip.
My eating habits have gone downhill and i’m dying for a detox. Tried to book myself at Pure Health this week but they’re absolutely packed!
My laundry is piled high, albeit separated perfectly via colour.
I have so many books i flip through but never finish.
I’ve barely been spending time with my family and friends.
But i’m taking control again.
I realise i can’t continue managing this blog, and the shop, and the PR stuff, and the events, and the team, AND myself; simultaneously anymore. I physically and mentally CANNOT. I can just about keep up with my own shit without having to remember other people’s schedule and to-do lists too. So i’m hiring a new manager… and she starts in January.
At least it’ll give me more time to focus on my blog and future plans for KBF.
And my weekends back.
Ok fine, i’ve been having a lot of FUN working weekends.
Last weekend was Urbanscapes, a perfect example of that.
But i tell you, the stress that comes before the fun…
I’d already learnt from taking KBF to It’s The Ship that stressing about something doesn’t solve anything. So when all these things were going wrong last Friday and Saturday, i surprised myself on how calm i was. OK i admit i did scream into the pillow once, but i was pretty much calm the rest of the time.
Summary is that all our stock from It’s The Ship was to arrive from Singapore latest by Friday, and SweetEe couldn’t get a hold of our contact at Livescape, so she and Weng Yee simply went to the office to collect our stuff, but it was not there. Shipping company promised to have it in by 9AM the next day, so we all woke up really early to transport everything to Genting by 11:30am… and they totally didn’t care. Livescape told us this bloody shipping company have been idiots since they started the project -_- We were told to wait till 12 noon, so SweetEe and Weng Yee went up to Genting first to set up what they could, which wasn’t much cos the majority of our stock was optimistically brought on the ship. I waited at the Livescape office with Jeremy (who was playing photographer and helper to us that weekend) till the truck pulled up the driveway at 3:15pm.
I didn’t even bother scolding the guy much, just gave him a sharp line or two then proceeded to quickly load the 10 carton boxes into my dad’s 4WD and drive straight up to Genting.
We were incredibly late in setting up and after all that was done,
i thought to myself, “RIGHT. Now i can go play.”
I played a LOT with my hula hoop at Urbanscapes.
Got a little drunk in the end, couldn’t stop playing all night and hit some people in the process, including Brian in the face (sorry!)
Rudy told me Jono complimented me on my hoop, and i proceeded to give him a lecture about hooping. Uhhhh
I think one of the reasons i love hooping is because it gives me my time alone.
After constantly being surrounded by people all the time, i need to be by myself to have long drawn out THOUGHTS.
There’s so much need to think about!
What areas in my life do i need to reshuffle to achieve balance.
Who i want to spend more time with and how.
How i want my new home to look like and function… (oh god, i saw the wetworks quotation last week and shouted “WHAT THE FUCK!!!)
Big trips i want to take next year (trying really hard to fit in Machu Picchu but work is getting in the way *growl*)
Oh god i realise i’m being so aggressive. This is not the person i want to be.
I definitely need to do more sport or something, let the anger out.
Or maybe the opposite. Meditate more. That’s right. I’ve totally not been meditating at all except every time i have a crisis.
Wow, see what alone time gives me?
I blog and am reminded of what changes i need to make to my life!
Ok it’s time for bed, and before i start spewing more brain crap that will embarrass me tomorrow.
Having freshly descended upon dry land, SweetEe and myself were faced with a conundrum in the form of invites for Esquire’s Best Dressed Real Man 2014, held at Capricorn KL. Joyce, as usual, was unavailable to attend so it was up to us. [Joyce: Oi… i had a pre-wedding dinner la ok]
The conundrum being, everyone in the office was BADLY hit with SWS (:read) and the last thing we wanted was to attend another party, having gone ALL OUT for 5 days straight. But consider this: in life, when offered the chance to openly ogle at sharply dressed men in a swanky environment amongst other sharply dressed people… RUN WITH IT.
So we tucked whatever form of SWS we had away into a deep corner and schlepped ourselves to Capricorn. Before I proceed, I’m going to need ya’ll to strap on your safety belts because this is going to be one SWOON-WORTHY post.
Swanky it was indeed. Complete with a long runway snaking down the middle.
Ridduan a.k.a. TTFGA is responsible for all the cool cover shots of the finalists. Majorly geeked out as I’ve been a fan of his work for quite some time!
Couldn’t miss a photo-op with the adorable Ai Chiin, who just started Cuevolution.com, check it out!
The ladies did not disappoint either. The glam factor was definitely present and very much on point.
The vibe was entirely different from the sort of “partying” we were accustomed to on the high seas. The crowd was highly sophisticated and uber cool, mingling amongst each other in the dim setting of the venue, music thumping in a steady but relaxed beat. SweetEe and I tried our best to assimilate. Fake it til’ you make it!
And then the music stopped. And the ogling commenced!
Before we proceed, let me introduce the 5 finalists of Esquire’s Best Dressed Real Man 2014 (pictures courtesy of Esquire Malaysia):
Shahzeeq Shahren, 25, account manager. (also ex-blog manager for KinkyBlueFairy a few years back!)
For Spring/Summer 2015, Creative Director Jonathan Liang merges sportswear chic with the fantastical inspirations of fairies, drawn from folklore of the “Fairy Ring” (circles of mushrooms created by fairies dancing in and out of this realm) and Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Bringing foreword Dude & the Duchess’s timeless minimal shapes into the forefront of the collection; clean lines, neat folds and unique textures give way to springtime versatility, with a distinct sportswear influence and the power of basics.
Among vivid colours and the sophisticated energy of the season, circular lines, silhouettes and embroidery will play a large role in the new upcoming collection.

Over the past two years, i’ve started exercising regularly because:
1. Bits get wobbly if i don’t and i just want to look better (read: vain)
2. I know i need to get moving if i want to live longer after reading Eat Move Sleep
3. My stamina is SO much better when i do! I work and function a lot more efficiently
The past 6 weeks been a whirlwind – Seoul, Sydney, London, Paris, Tokyo, and now the entire team (myself included) have just returned from The Ship (which sailed from Singapore > Langkawi > Singapore). PHEW. Not that i’m complaining. Any opportunity to travel is a blessing, and if it’s for work then by all means!
Meesh asked me how have i not spontaneously combusted yet cos i’ve been doing SO much, and i swear keeping fit when my schedule permits, helps heaps! I’ve been working out at Celebrity Fitness for the past few months (they got me on as an ambassador) and i won’t say it’s easy making time to work out, but my body loves me so much better for it.
A couple of days before we set sail for The Ship, i was invited to the media preview of Celebrity Fitness‘ latest workout methodology – Rotational Movement Training (RMT) – in conjunction with the opening of their newest gym at Nu Sentral. Seeing i hadn’t been in the country to work out nor instagram about CF much, i figured i SHOULD go!
Celebrity Fitness Malaysia is the first in Asia to introduce the RMT methodology and its equipment, mainly the RMT Club and the RMT Rope. This new innovative workout technique includes the Non-Dominant Side Training and functional strength training that utilises both sides of the body to work together to move more efficiently and athletically. The RMT tools not only ensure that the whole body gets a full workout but at the same time build strength coordination, balance and a greater range of motion.
A demonstration by the pros, led by Vidal Coscolin, one of the five certified RMT Trainers and Group Fitness Manager of Celebrity Fitness Malaysia. They made it look super effortless. Little did i know what was about to come…
The team had such a great time spreading our fairy love on It’s The Ship that when another opportunity came for us to do it all over again, we just had to say YES. So if you missed the boat (or rather The Ship), you still have the chance to come and check out our fun and colourful items.
Urbanscapes is Malaysia’s Creative Arts Festival, currently in their 12th consecutive year and it is looking to being one of the best yet. The all-day event features some of the best talent in music, art, design, photography and more.
