Went to the swanky launch of the new Blackberry Torch @ Westin last Friday.
The moment i walked in, i felt like i had to be all serious cos everyone was in suits.
Black suits. So serious.
I wish someone would have a ‘colourful tie’ event.
And everyone would have to wear colourful suits,
that’d be such a sight!
But for now i’ll leave these kerazy thoughts for another day.

We politely fought over the last bite.

Bernie emceed the event,
and a game ala Who Wants To Be A Millionaire was played to win a new Blackberry Torch.
It was really entertaining with lots of joking around, and the questions had to do with Blackberry (of course) as well as some general knowledge ones.
There was one on the French Revolution and i told Clem, “It’d be really embarrassing if you don’t know this!”

Someone’s little Bel wanted to stay out and party instead of going home for bedtime, awww.

At a certain age, women tend to stare at other babies and wonder what it’d be like to have one of their own.
It’s unavoidable, i think. That moment comes sooner later.
If not the desire to WANT one, at the very least – wonderment.

I overhead *someone* say, “I want a baby,” while staring at Bel.
She got told by Niki, “Then go get la.”
Like as if getting a baby is like picking out spaghetti in the supermarket.

Oh how the children of today learn to hold a smartphone before learning how to cycle.
I realise the fact that i’m currently in a generation where there is already a younger generation all ready to say to me one day, “Oh Joyce (cos they would never call me Aunty, we’re all too modern for that) you’re so old school (a phrase which will probably be replaced by another, also meaning ‘old school’ but sounding way cooler and not in existence yet).“

One day, it will happen, i know it.

I had a Forest Gump moment yesterday,
when i felt like running.
I haven’t run for ages,
and out of nowhere, all of a sudden,
i really really feel like running.

I asked Clem last week, “Can we go running together in the park?”
“No… i don’t like running. We can walk *hopeful + trying to be nice*“
“Hmm… okay.”

*10 seconds later*

“What if we had a small tiny little race?”
Him: 

I really felt like running yesterday.
Heart: I feel like running.
Brain: Then GO.
Legs: Yawnnn lazyyy
Heart + Brain: Shut it!

So i pulled on my somewhat dusty LunarGlides and made my way to the big park on the edge of the TTDI forest reserve.
Thought before starting to run: What if i collapsed somewhere and noone FOUND ME?!
Thought while running: Damn. I’m so out of shape it’s unbelievable. I have a stitch ALREADY.
Thought while finishing: Well. That was actually quite nice. I might try to do this every day! It’d be great self-reflection time, get some fresh air, exercise…

I’m not going to run today.
Not because i don’t want to, or because my Legs’ voice is louder than my Heart’s.
But because my entire body is aching and bruised from my 2nd manipulative massage session last night.

It was so painful that i cried after coming out of the room (Cammy and Steph were so cute to hug me).
But i know this is for the better so i’m just going to FINISH my 4-5 sessions and see what the results are!

After an event on Friday night, Clem and i headed to The Hill – a new al fresco bar up the road from Aliyaa and Jarrod & Rawlins – because everyone we knew seemed to be there and we wanted to drink more before heading home!

The bar’s first night in operation had everyone who turned up being common friends, providing lots of running around and endless tipsy chatter.  My favourite.

when i bumped into someone who said he’s been hearing muchos about Steph and how he wants to meet the living legend.
Phwoar. I never knew Steph was known as a living legend 
It must be her ability to pull expressions from rock to pout, and sew felt animals while hungover.

Last week on Thursday night, Maxis launched the latest iPhone 4 at midnight 24th September.
They are the first to launch sales to customers at midnight!

I knew i’d be going for the event,
but i didn’t think an estimated 3,000 people were planning to turn up as well!

Throughout the day, people were talking about going for it,
so i was thinking, “Eh, i thought this is a media event… not some party!”
People were talking about it like it was a party,
and even Clem wanted to go because his friends were all going. 

I was more excited about actually seeing more of the iPhone 4 and not the party (technology over drinks!)
cos when i was in UK during summer, Yishyene was the first friend i know to have got it.
Even RyanSoosay (her bf and my buddy) got mighty jealous cos the package in UK goes something along the lines of 1 iPhone per customer on the waiting list or something like that.
What i remember is that Ryan REALLY wanted the new phone,
and Yishyene decided to keep hers for herself cos it was too leet hahaha.

Watching her play with her new toy,
i did look on in subdued envy cos it IS beautiful.
And sleek.
And sexy.
And fashionable.
And i turned away cos i didn’t need a new phone.

I had two phones which worked perfectly fine and i wasn’t going to indulge in unnecessary spending (which i’m very talented in).
But since one of my two phones have been acting up on me since i got back (which some of you might have seen me tweet about in frustration, i’ve sent it to repair twice in one month and it hung on me again last week again making me have a heart attack), i thought this would be a perfectly plausible reason to replace it.

And what better than with the newest thing right.
So i went just to look…

It was crazy crowded.

I couldn’t even see the new phone in the VIP area when i arrived.
All i could see were a lot of bodies and heads.

People were crowding around the bar,
and other counters where they were registering for the iPhone 4.

The turnout was MAD.

I went outside to consider going downstairs to the media room,
so i could get a better idea of what was going on other than the party.

Bumped into DoraemonKenny who’d just got off the plane.
He flew in just for the launch!

asking me where was the bowl for the lucky draw to win a new iPhone 4.

On the way down the escalator,
i balked at the number of customers queuing up to apply for the new iPhone!

I heard people were lining up for hours!

Again, i saw lots of heads…

Someone was so short her boyfriend had to lift her up so she could see. 

Actually, i’m too short to see anything too,
but my boyfriend was too busy drinking with his friends upstairs. 

We were ushered outside for the press conference after the anticipated countdown,
and again, i couldn’t see anything 
(Darn you short legs of mine!)

After it was over, i went to join the rest who were well in party mode in the VIP area upstairs.

Serena C who hosted the launch, told me afterward that about 280 members of the media attended the event,
to the point where not everyone could get into the ballroom even!

Still, i was a happy clappy fairy cos i have myself a new toy 

Was showing it off to my mom,
and she was like, “Oh! This is the new iPhone 4 issit.”
I’m thinking, “Whoa. My MOM knows this?! My mom doesn’t usually care about what new tech stuff is out… “

She then told me how she tried to go to the market on Sunday,
couldn’t get a parking spot cos everyone was trying to buy the new iPhone 4,
and saw heaps of people lining up outside Maxis.

So actually… all she wanted was to go to the market la.
While the others were going mad over the iPhone 4 so she had no choice but to see WHAT THE FUSS WAS ABOUT.
