I went to the Bimba & Lola store @ Pavilion a few weeks ago!
Not only did i get to see first hand what the FW collection of the Spanish brand looks like,
but i got my swanky metal VIP card for discounts on purchases
Only gonna put up pictures of things i like here!
Love the wool cardigan.
Looks like it WILL keep me warm besides just looking good!
Want the long skirt.
LOVE the bucket bag.
Couldn’t help taking pictures of the shoes…
was especially salivating at the pair on right.
Models showing off the new VIP cards.
The turnout for the event was amazing.
People were spilling and mingling outside the store and it’s good to know more and more fashion lovers are coming to appreciate Bimba & Lola!
[View more pix from the event here]
Because it was so crowded (and i love browsing in peace!)
i went to the Gardens outlet another day after
to take my time trying on, handling and cooing at the FW pieces.
Love love love the bucket bags.
Even spotted one of the Bimba & Lola bucket bags in Harper’s BAZAAR this month.
I really fancy the multitude of buckles and straps.
Now if only i wasn’t so lazy in putting them on…
On left > reminds me of a doctor’s bag!
Can imagine throwing heaps of things in there to lug around.
I heart big bags!
Love the chain mesh necklace.
I also have a soft spot for quilted leather.
There’s just something about the detailing that always gives me a tingle of pleasure when i inspect it.
I must say Bimba & Lola stores have the largest plush couch of all!
It’s a great Boyfriend Couch cos it’s so comfortable,
they won’t complain while waiting
I spent ages choosing between these pair of shoes,
and an identical pair in black.
Tried one on.
Tried the other on.
Decided i couldn’t possibly get both.
Asked for Clem’s opinion.
Scrunched my nose up at it.
And wondered why i asked him when i never follow people’s opinion on what i should or should not buy/wear anyway.
>.<
In the end, I chose the dark blue mesh with wooden soles.
They’re freaking awesome.
Super comfortable,
makes short me taller without arching my feet too much since they’re platform.
And they go with lots of the type of things i’m wearing nowadays.
My favourite pair of shoes for the next few months for sure!
Other items from their FW collection i like (but you can’t have it all Joyce)
Click on any of the images to view them in large mode.
Funky sleeves on right!!!
I don’t usually go toward coloured pearls,
but its combination with dark silver beads is undoubtedly alluring.
Okay.
I’m going reindeer crazy here.
You should really check out the rings in its larger images.
Gorgeous.
These bracelets remind me of a vintage one i have,
would go with anything and everything.
I didn’t see these in the store yet…
really hope they bring them out cos they look absolutely luscious.
Did you know that the first Oktoberfest took place in Munich in 1810?
That’s 200 years ago!
The event initially started off as a horse race, in conjunction with a royal wedding.
Throughout the decades, it evolved to become the event that it is today – a celebration drawing5 million people to Munich annually; with the rest of the world joining in with festivities of their own!
In KL, i went for the Oktoberfest that happened at Sid’s TTDI.
Being the most popular bar hands down in the neighbourhood for the past two years,
it was the perfect venue for me to meet my friends there,
check out the festivities,
and drink to Oktoberfest!
The Facebook event invite said it’s to start at 6pm.
Some friends of mine were joking (not) to meet at Sid’s at 5:59pm.
I swear this is one of the only times people actually arrive BEFORE the event is to kick off.
Was quite surprised on how big the party was,
i thought it was just gonna be taking place in the bar itself,
not spreading out to take up the whole road with balloons, signs and stalls!
First things first.
And drinks come first.
I found out where to buy the vouchers, and purchased them before heading to the various taps for beers like Tiger, Guinness, Paulaner, Heineken, Kilkenny and Strongbow.
I’ve had countless pints of Tiger, Heineken, Guinness and Kilkenny,
and thought it’d be a good opportunity to try something i don’t usually drink since they were having promos.
Paulaner and Strongbow were the most expensive there,
and since i’d already tried tens of pints of Strongbow at the Isle of Wight fest,
i figured i’d go for the Paulaner, the only beer i haven’t tried before.
Brewed and imported from Munich, Germany;
Paulaner is said to be theNo. 1 German wheat beer
and is one of the official beers at Oktoberfest in Munich.
All the more reason to try it that day.
I’m surprised that my friends and i haven’t tried this beer before… (with probably the exception of Deep.
That dude has probably tried brands i’ve never noticed!)
I read somewhere there are 4 brews under Paulaner,
and tried their Weissbier Dunkel – a medium-bodied one with a dark camarel hue.
It’s quite yummy, and i like that its consistency has a ‘wholesomeness’ to it.
There’s a slight sweetness to it, and i can imagine this would go great with some food.
Drink in hand,
i walked around to see what was going on:
A small (but very loud!) German brass band provided skippety beats.
It was really very jovial and made me feel like bopping my head from side to side while sipping on my Paulaner.
The band tried getting some volunteers up to dance,
and nobody did till they mentioned that there were free drinks for all participants.
It was quite funny so see an eager few silently slunk up to the front of the band once they said that!
Everyone had to do this amicable little dance where
they’d lean to the left,
lean to the right,
squat down,
stand up,
and do it all over again.
I bet all they were thinking of were the alcoholic rewards they were getting for it!
Juggler dropped a ball which hit my foot.
But it was okay.
If someone had spilled a beer on my new shoes,
that would NOT have been okay.
I thought the caricature would be interesting to do (my last one being a disaster in Bangkok),
but the line was an hour long,
so i turned around and said to a stranger, “Time better spent drinking!” and walked out of the queue.
He laughed at me.
Answer to question title: H&M and Lanvin is releasing on that date.
I’ve already marked it down on my calendar in hopes that i may buy something online.
Maybe.
The title is so, because i was thinking it after finding out all the things i can do with my new toy.
Never will i be lost again.
Never will there be an ugly picture in my phone again.
Never will i have to write recipes down in my chicken handwriting again.
NEVER WILL I BE BORED WAITING EVER AGAIN (because sometimes i forget my book )
Last night, Clem caught me playing with it constantly,
and complained, “Are you going to be on your phone even more now?!”
Yes, i finally got to opening Pandora’s box.
Okay, more like the iPhone 4 box.
But it felt that way.
This is my first iPhone, and i’ve never had a desire for one before the iPhone 4.
I’m sorry Apple, but apparently i’m not the only one who thinks so!
The iPhone 4’s predecessors were not really my thing, i wasn’t too fond of its curved back,
but the iPhone 4…
it got a lot of us pulled to the Garden where they tell you not to eat the Apple.
Looking fierce in an all-new design (i much prefer the corners of the phone now!)
the iPhone 4 IS the thinnest smartphone in the world right now.
All stainless steel and flawless glass,
even holding it in my hand is a pleasurable experience,
with a feeling that is similar to when i look at Nicholas Kirkwood shoes online.
Besides going gaga over it’s outer features,
let’s go deeper,
to why i finally UNDERSTAND the ‘smart’ behind a smartphone like my iFairy (*sheepish* yeah that’s what i named her)
FaceTime
In short, it’s video calling (for free if done over Wi-Fi).
As easy as making a call, i can just video call any friend who has an iPhone 4 or the new iPod touch.
I can’t wait till more friends have the iPhone 4… and how fun it’d be to tell them stuff when i’m traveling!
One thing i miss most when i travel is communicating with friends.
And emailing and messaging… just doesn’t cut it when you want to hear and see their reactions,
especially if i’m not next to my laptop to use Skype.
There are even TWO built-in cameras for FaceTime,
so i could show the caller something that is happening in front of me,
while seeing their response at the same time!
While checking a food app on what to eat for the night, someone might message and ask whether you want to party in Bangkok next weekend, but you have to go on the DJ’s myspace to see whether you like the music first, and at the same time people are calling you about work.
The wonderful thing about my iFairy is how i can maneuver between applications quickly and easily.
No waiting, even for a microsecond, for an app to load or rubbish like that. It just OPENS and IS READY.

Retina Display
Crisp. Sharp. Vibrant. High-res.
This is not even something i have to tell you,
but you have to SEE for yourself.
“Apple engineers were able to pack four times the number of pixels into the same 3.5-inch (diagonal) screen found on earlier iPhone models. The resulting pixel density of iPhone 4 — 326 pixels per inch — makes text and graphics look smooth and continuous at any size.”

Don’t you just hate it when they keep making things better and better,
so you HAVE to get the latest one!?
The quality of the pictures and videos are just out of this world.
It just makes me want to KEEP on looking.
It’s like having an HD TV in your palm.
Heck, it IS having an HD in your palm!
Video recording, HD (720p) up to
30 frames per second with audio
5-megapixel still camera
VGA-quality photos and video at up to
30 frames per second with the front camera
Tap to focus video or still images
LED flash
Photo and video geotagging
I actually can’t wait till i travel again so i can take a video and edit it on the spot!
Gahhhh excited!

Of course, i can use my iPhone as an iPod as well.
Yay to not having to carry around my iPod everywhere!
And i MUST tell you this story about the phone’s speakers.
The other night, i reached home before Clem,
so i plugged the iPhone to the external speakers and let it play,
while i poured myself a glass of shiraz and took a shower.
In the middle of it, i fiddled with the phone a bit,
and put the music back on.
When Clem got back, he asked why i didn’t connect it to the speakers. “I did. I made sure i did just now!” “No… you didn’t!” He connected it properly (it must’ve come loose earlier), the sound changed,
and i did feel stupid for a while.
My surprise was that the iPhone speakers were as loud as the external speakers!
I didn’t even notice the difference even though it was playing thru the external speakers previously!
Superbest.
Besides all the magical things my iPhone 4 can do,
i still haven’t even brought up my favourite part… all the apps!
I always hear about apps.
Apps this apps that.
It was of no concern to me cos i didn’t have an iPhone… but i GET IT now.
I SWEAR THEY’RE GOING TO CHANGE MY LIFE AND MAKE ME A BETTER PERSON.
Some are free and some are not, but they don’t usually cost too much,
tho i must say… it can get really addictive.
I had to TEAR myself away from app-shopping!
I’m gonna share some with you,
in the hope you can understand WHY i’m so excited
and not think i’m (completely) crazy.
First knew about it thru Alet, when he took some pictures and tagged us in Facebook.
I was like, “HOW the heck did the picture turn out so nice?!”
For forgetful and scatterbrained people LIKE ME,
Evernote helps you remember everything!
Just watch the video, it’s really cute and quirky and got me to install Evernote in the hope that my terrible memory will get organized with the help of technology!
The fashion apps.
Will change any fashion-loving person’s life forever.
I swear on it.
Style.Com has free iPhone app downloads that let you view the latest runway looks, parties and vids instantaneously.
I find that i don’t have time to read if i just have to wait for 5 minutes,
so catching up on the latest runway looks while waiting for my char koay teow is perfect.
and Chic Feed, which compiles looks from LookBook, Jak & Jil, Sartorialist, etc. (thanks Azlina for recommending it!)
Since i recently started to cook, the food & recipe apps have got me happy!
I even showed them to my mum, tho she must be thinking how she learnt all her recipes thru experience and memory, no apps nonsense!
There aren’t many movies that make me want to head to the cinema these days,
but i think this may be one of the few that i’d make an exception for.
One of the highest grossing movies in US right now, The Social Network is a film about Mark Zuckerberg –
the Harvard computing genius that is responsible for Facebook.
There will be a screening for The Social Network and KinkyBlueFairy will be giving 8 winners a pair of tickets each!
Thanks to Nuffnang, a bunch of you will get to watch the movie before everyone else in KL!
Date: 1 Nov (Mon)
Time: 9pm
Venue: GSC Mid Valley
Ticket collection – 8pm till 9pm
: : Edit : :
The movie distributor has just let out that The Social Network premier in Malaysia will be pushed back to 2nd December.

All you have to do is comment and tell me an experience you’ve had with Facebook.
It could be something hilarious,
about love,
your friends,
an embarrassing experience,
why you love Facebook even,
or something just absolutely tragic.

I’ll give you an example…
Years ago, someone tagged me making out with a girl friend on Facebook.
I didn’t think anything too much of it…
‘Twas our wild TAG party days (those days don’t seem to exist amongst us anymore)
and it was just one of the many party pictures…
so i just left it.
Manatau weeks after that,
i get a phonecall from a friend saying, “Joyce… i think… there is a picture of you making out with a girl on the Zouk flyer.” “Are you sure?!”
“I’m looking at it right now… and i’m pretty sure it’s you.”
Dammit.
How would i know that the Zouk designers would think it was okay to take party pictures that were ON Facebook taken IN Zouk,
contrast the pictures,
and use them for flyers that would be distributed around the city?
The flyer my friend spotted was in a boutique in Bangsar!
Now i can look back at the experience and laugh.
But back then, i was thinking, GODDAMMIT FACEBOOK!
