I bet you’ve never had anyone say that to you before.
But i have!
Go me!
I was in Fat Spoon when Chak asked me to turn around,
and said the aforementioned.
Turning my head around to squint down at my bum,
i pulled a panda sticker off my back. “I, erm, have animal stickers on my car ceiling so sometimes they drop off and i guess this got stuck to me…” i tried explaining to his grinning face.
He’s used to expecting the unexpected after knowing me for years.

Thanks to La Senza for including me in their team in the fight against cervical cancer.
I was previously involved in another campaign to raise awareness regarding cervical cancer,
and it feels good to be pushing information on the same cause again.
The event to launch the effort was last week, held @ 1 Utama:
Denise Keller hosted the event
me, Jacklyn, Andrea and Alia writing our signs to be hung off the tree
[click for larger view]
Andrea Fonseka, Ching Yee, Teri Choong, Dr. Kamaljit, Angie Hng, Angie Chong, Jaclyn Victor, Joyce, Runi-Ain Dahlan, Alia Soraya, Nicholas Mok (HSBC)
Teri is a cervical cancer survivor who’s spoke about her experience at the event.
Being a thoroughly vivacious speaker, she really brought our attention to how it not only affects our lives,
but our family’s and the people who depend on us.
Globally,
500,000 cervical cancer cases are reported annually 80% or more of these cases are from developing countries 270,000 deaths occur each year from cervical cancer
Every 2 minutes, a woman dies of cervical cancer
In Asia Pacific,
266,000 cervical cancer cases are diagnosed in Asia Pacific 143,000 women from this figure die from this disease 41% of women in developing countries receive necessary treatment to survive
Every 4 minutes, a woman dies of cervical cancer
Cervical cancer is caused by the HPV virus (amongst other factors like smoking, and sexual habits)
It’s estimated that 50-80% of women will acquire a genital HPV infection in their lifetime,
with 50% of those infections potentially cancer-causing.
There are jabs available to prevent ourselves against cervical cancer,
but there have been some girls who’ve commented that they’re expensive.
(It’s from RM250 x 3 jabs, and above)
I think that as long as you get a PAP smear once a year (RM50-100),
you’ll at least know whether you’ve caught an abnormal virus or not.
So just get your PAP smear regularly!
It takes half an hour or less, and at least you’ll have peace of mind till the next year.
Imagine getting a cancer that you could have prevented!
That’s the silliest thing imaginable.
: : Edit : :
I had to mention, that after some googling and research,
it’s been reported that Gardasil (one of the HPV vaccines) may cause infertility.
Read more about it *here* or go ahead and google whichever vaccine your doctor suggests to you.
I do NOT want to risk making myself infertile (yes i do want children!) so i’d rather get a PAP smear regularly instead of vaccines that are so new people are only discovering terrible side effects later on.
It’s like we’re the lab rats!
As my mom and i watched CNN last Friday,
i couldn’t help thinking that i’ve seen images like this before.
But in movies.
Mighty waters flowing over land,
washing everything in its path like little toys in a bathtub.
Houses, ships, cars.
Our life on earth is so fragile
and in the big picture,
a mere blink in the Universe’s time.
I hugged Clem last weekend,
thinking how lucky i am that we’re safe.
Safe safe safe in our apartment and far away from the catastrophes that are plaguing so many places in the world.
It does make me think more about my life and how i want to treat myself.
Just recently i’ve been pondering about my well-being.
How i want to live longer, as long as i can.
How i want to have children, and be old enough to see my children have children.
Isn’t it crazy?
I never thought so much about having children before,
and suddenly i have all these plans in my head about how i want my life to turn out.
Some friends have said that they don’t think they want to have children,
seeing how the world is right now,
and how the children would have to suffer.
I just think that if i were a child to be born in this world,
i’d rather be born and experience some happiness
than never have existed at all.
Suddenly life seems so long.
I’m almost done with my 20s, but i’ve got my 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond to think about.
When i get deep in thought about it, i sometimes panic terribly.
About what i’m going to do for work, for money, for happiness.
And then i snap out of it thinking, oh for god’s sake, stop it –
I have so much right now.
All i have to do is keep on moving, learning, and giving.
I feel like i haven’t found my calling in life yet…
And i’m still searching for it.
Hopefully, it’ll come / i’ll find it soon.
Last Thursday was a proud day for Malaysian brands KLutched and AirAsiaX,
as they collaborated to host an intimate soiree at Paris Fashion Week!
I was invited along to fly with the team and cover it…
but i had to turn it down cos of Clem’s birthday.
I know some are going to say it’s a stupid thing to do,
and Clem even asked me to go for it.
But i knew in my heart i’d feel awful for abandoning him last min to plan his party alone,
plus it’s not like he’s got any family in KL to ease the birthday blues.
And i know myself.
I’ve done this before, where i choose myself over someone,
and i feel really bad about it after.
I love fashion. But i love Clem more :p
Anyway i promised the team i’d blog about the party they organised,
and it’s truly worth a full blogpost cos it’s so great to see Malaysian brands that we’re so proud of being introduced to Parisians!
The party was held in Molotov PolitBar,
a Russian-themed vodka bar in fierce red decor – perfect with AirAsia’s own identity!
Molotov PolitBar is owned by fashion model Anna Sinkovska
(pictured below holding a KLutched bag)
Malaysian singer/DJ Melissa Indot flew there as well to provide the music!
She spun for the night, and sang two new songs from her upcoming album.
The party was to bring to attention the new weekly Paris-KL route available on AirAsiaX,
as well as the exotic and exquisite bags KLutched produces!

The night ended with a lucky draw, where 2x KLutched bags and 2x Return AirAsiaX tickets for the new Paris-KL route were given out.
The 2 peeps who won the tix from Paris to KL and back were a model, and Hamid Berchiri, a photographer for Vogue.
Isn’t it great to know more people see Malaysia in a flattering way?!
I know i do! I’m always excited to tell people where to go and what to do/eat when they come here.
Here’s to hoping there’ll be more collaborations in the future!
