Thanks to Yishyene for sending me this,
i saw it somewhere before and never saved it.

Sometimes the small things you do makes a difference.
Sounds so cliche but that’s because it’s true.
When i take the Penchala Link toll, i’d intentionally pay cash,
just so i can smile at the toll booth people.
Imagine how bored they must be sitting there for hours,
collecting money!
And imagine how many people who pass smile at them.
It’s so simple, but i appreciate it when a stranger smiles at me,
so i thought i’d do the same.
And i made it into a habit.
Even when i’m super grouchy, i’d try to wake up a smile while handing over my RM2.
After a while, i was able to recognise all the regular staff,
and they’d always smile when they see my face pop out of the car window.
There’s a chubby Malay guy with small eyes.
There’s a fair girl who always wears colourful eyeshadow.
Clem suggested i memorize their names even.
There was one day when i was having an extra blah day.
And for once, the toll girl smiled brightly at me and said, “Wah! Adik pakai cantik hari ini yeah!”
It might have been her compliment (cos i do love my clothes so!)
It might have been her big smile.
But it made me feel better.
And i thought that’s nice… my smile went around, came back, and made ME feel better instead of my intention of doing it the other way around
So try smiling at a stranger today.
Your cleaning lady.
Your security guard.
The guy you buy lunch or newspapers from.
When i was in high school, i used to be a real geek for X-Files.
I’d spend what little money i had on newsletter on paranormal activity,
graduated to reading books on the subject from cover to cover,
and interest on it waned when i discovered life outside books and TV.
That doesn’t mean i don’t believe though.
I won’t really say what i do or do not think is true…
I don’t really know.
Nobody really really knows.
I never actually *cough* told anyone *looks in sky* that i believe in aliens.
Cos people would think i’m crazy (as if i don’t have that label already) for believing in fairies.
I’m pretty sure i got influenced by Antares on the alien one.
Found a thick book on the history of aliens as humans know it in his Bamboo Palace,
and spent an interesting afternoon flipping through it.
And… it actually made a whole lotta sense.
I’ve spent hours watching documentaries on the evolution of the Universe.
Homo sapiens have been around for (roughly) 200,000 years.
Isn’t it weird that out of that 200,000;
we’ve only been more advanced in the past 2,000?
That’s an itty bitty portion out of the length of time we’ve existed.
Not to mention the speed at which we’re suddenly going.
Anyway i’m going to end of off tangent.
The books says that aliens somehow delivered information to humans,
which we’ve embraced and evolved rather nicely.
Even things like the pyramids in Egypt are still unexplainable, as are crop circles.
(Haha i just tried googling ‘who built the pyramids’ and the FIRST link that came up was ‘Aliens built the pyramids‘)
Some crop circles nowadays are man-made (some even do it as art),
but there are others that are so intricate and complex, that people spend years trying to find out where it came from.
I love Lat comics…
I spent a portion of my childhood years poring over Lat comic books my dad bought,
especially the Langkawi one.
My mom said she even used to cut his comics out of the newspapers to keep!
So when i heard the musical was in progress,
i bought tickets weeks ago to ensure we’d get decent seats!
I went with my parents and Clem,
and was really excited ‘cos i heard such great reviews.
I think i should just STOP reading reviews!
They either get my hopes up and dash them after,
or lower them so bad i don’t want to go/find it amazing after -_-
This was a case of the former…
I couldn’t get all the jokes,
the Malay was a different slang and rather fast to catch (ok and my malay sucks too)
and the subtitles weren’t entirely complete.
Felt a bit bad for Clem cos it’s hard to catch everything when they’re not in sync..!
Nevertheless i really enjoyed the musical.
The little boy who acted as Lat was superb at singing.
I felt like kidnapping him home to sing for me.
(Now you know how i’d treat children – as my slaves haha)
It was so cool to see the dancers dress up from my mom and dad’s time, Malaysian style.
That ‘Pekan boy, kampung boy’ song was randomly playing in my head yesterday!
And of course, the story itself – learning about how Lat’s career and life progressed.
My mom loveddd the set up and told me so *waves at Jia Wei*
All in all, i think it was a great effort.
Better than a couple of international musicals i’ve watched before
Had the most tiring weekend cos i was a bridesmaid at Ashley’s wedding!
Daymn i never knew how tiring it could be… restecp to those who have been multiple bridesmaids.
Will have a super lovely long post on that up when i’m done with my work.
But for now here’s some pix i edited last week, the move!
Having a breather (and beer) after carrying everything into the new apartment.
Some close ups i took the first night we moved in.
Excited mar.
And also proud i we managed to make it more homely asap.
I bought the seahorse cos i once told Clem, “Did you know that daddy seahorses take care of all the baby seahorses? While mommy seahorse goes out to play!” “Seahorses are stupid.”
“No they’re not. They’re the BEST.”
Our little library:
A quirky coffee mug Aunt G got Clem from the Saatchi Gallery
Guinness must be really happy i actually stick their magnets onto the fridge!
In the bedroom:
My colourful crap takes precedence on the dressing table
Bathroom:
We’ve still got a lot of bare walls and i went to buy some paint and canvas last week.
Will attempt doing a Joyce masterpiece for the walls.
But it might turn out looking like crap.
So i gotta do it when i’m ‘feeling’ it.
I’ve been promising Tai Yong for ages and ages that i’d meet up with him,
and finally did!
Was afraid he was about to call it quits on me :p
Had wine and Guinness at his new bar & restaurant called Lust,
which is just on the corner of the huge building across Palate Palette.
Lust is one of 8 Heineken flagship outlets,
and has a room upstairs done up to look like an apartment (which i failed to have a look at -_- blogger, fail.) called Studio H.
I couldn’t stop going at the chips in garlic mayo even tho i had dinner at home
Check it out if you’re looking for somewhere new to drink in Changkat area!
I heard the chef is a superstar too.
