There’s a pretty awesome collaboration that’s going on right now,
and anyone can step in the gallery to view it at no charge.
“The Garden of Hidden Desires brings together
8 of Malaysia’s most promising artists with

I recognise Justin’s pointilism techniques from an exhibition he had a few years ago.
Interestingly, he decided to printscreen images on a piece of perspeks atop the painting
instead of painting directly unto it.

This is my absolute favourite because the rattan sculpture is an EXQUISITE piece of work that took the artists 3 months to construct,
AND
it opens up into a hidey hole chair!
First, name your potato and give a brief description of its personality.
You can base it on someone you know,
a pop culture character,
or purely from imagination,
like how i did:
Then comes the fun and slightly challenging part – THE MASTERPIECE!
I was wondering why there were submissions ‘recommended by’ me,
when i realised it was because i told these friends about the app!
Think you’re supposed to put in your own name,
and not mine, salah concept
Love the Lady Gaga one!
And Mob Barley.
I bet whomever did this had a tablet!
It’s so well done…
If you want to play around with it,
be assured that your efforts aren’t for nothing,
cos it’s a contest where the Grand Prize is a 16GB iPad 2!
There’ll also be weeekly Consolation Prizes
which i’m telling you, you shouldn’t turn down.
I bought the ‘Sour Cream & Onion’ and ‘Original’ flavours from Jack N Jill months ago,
and topped up my larder collection with the Spicy one too.
They’re all really addictive…
and i tend to munch on a few while cooking (cos it’s within arm’s reach, can’t resist)
or doing work when i’m up late. You can really TASTE the potatoes in it,
so help me fairy god if i’m lying. Cammy was saying she loves the BBQ flavour,
but i haven’t seen it to buy yet.
Am afraid i’ll look like a Jack N Jill freak if someone comes to our apartment!
But i digress.

Thanks to Yasmin for inviting me to partake in the Celebrity Lap in the recent Relay for Life event.
“Relay For Life is an over-night event,
celebrating the lives of cancer survivors
as well as to remember the lives of loved ones who have lost the battle.
It is a high-spirited event where everyone in the community can join in the fight against cancer.
It is a day filled with fun, comradeship and festivities.
A time when people you know and people you don’t know team up to raise public awareness about cancer in the community.
Throughout the duration of the event, individuals, survivors, teams, companies, and schools will take turns to walk the track to relay the message of cancer.
Non-stop. From dusk till dawn.”
A big group of us were gathered at 3pm last Sat to leave for Malacca,
where we’d walk a lap in the relay and collect money whereupon every sen goes to the National Cancer Society.
The singers like Jacyln Victor, Vince Chong and Elvira Arul performed on stage.
Thanks to Aeroline for sponsoring our bus trip down!
They even took orders for Milo and coffee, and served us food.
We each decorated our Luminaria paperbags which were to be lit up that night.
Okay, i did mine under the pressure of the Chong sisters in the bus -_-
It was a looooong ride to Malacca cos the highway was jammed,
think we took almost 4 hours!
Had a quick but awesome nyonya dinner at Straits Meridien Malacca
before heading straight to the stadium.
Yasmin being the mother hen and making sure everyone does their thang.
On left is JFK, whom i just met that day but was SO NICE to hook me up with the best deal to fix my iPhone 4 which i shattered the day before -_-
Pamela & Vanessa Chong (i can finally tell them apart), and Miss Universe/Malaysia 2010 finalist Sarah Yap
Signing the banner which we’d carry during our relay lap
We sold lots of blinky toys that Yasmin ordered to raise money.
Subsequently bought a few ourselves too
The more femes faces urged people to donate $ in exchange for taking a picture with them.
Hans was damn laku to take pictures with people.
There were so many shy girls lingering nearby to take a picture with him!
I think we should start a kissing booth with Hans in it next time.
Sure pau more $
Astro Supersports host Jay trying to make me take a money box.
I’m obviously too distracted grinning at camera.
I know i have 25,000 unique visitors a month…
if EACH of you just gave RM10,
we’d manage to collect RM250,000!
Power in numbers is an amazing thing.
So do take a minute of your time to donate RM10.

JUST SO HAPPENED everything i wore today is from Topshop.
I HAD to walk past it last week on the way to an event,
and faltered.
Faltered badly.
Lunch turned out to be a quick takeaway at McDs at 3pm
cos i was busy at a press conference and a meeting
and didn’t want to cancel my hair appointment with Ming.
I’ve been so busy that i’ve resorted to snipping away at my own sides
with a scissors in the bathroom.
Well not anymore!
Today, i was going to MAKE SURE that i got my hair done.
And done to an extent that i wouldn’t have to make time to cut it for another month or more.
Anyway, back to my lunch,
i don’t consume fast food very often.
Only on the occasion that:
1. I’m too busy and if i don’t just grab something, i will die.
2. I have a dream about KFC with major cravings after.
I didn’t know that McDs has started a No Plastic Bag campaign.
So i didn’t get one to carry my takeaway Coke in.
Which i thought rather odd.
Hey, y’all know i’m a recycle freak.
I cut down taking plastic bags whenever i can.
I take plastic bags from the supermarket so rarely,
that Clem has ORDERED me to take some cos we had none to throw the trash out in.
But when it comes to a cold drink in a flimsy cardboard cup
with a dangerously fragile plastic cover,
i would think THIS might be one of those rare occasions i submit myself to a tiny plastic bag.
I asked for one but they said no.
I said “Oh-kay,” when i was really going “Oh no,” in my head.
Me attempting to transport a cardboard drink without a carrier is not a good idea.
You should see the way Clem watched me when i was walking on the side of a cliff in Sigirya.
At one point i waved my arms to catch my balance and his eyes opened so wide i could see the whites all around.
Anyway, i was very optimistic that i wasn’t going to be clumsy today,
this very special day.
While i was in the car, i was so thirsty,
that i picked it up and,
yes, you guessed it,
the stupid flimsy top popped right off and
spilled half of my bloody Coke all over my new silk top and white pants.
My new white pants.
Do you know how hard it is to find a pair of white pants that fit you?
The last time i bought a pair was in 2007 from Zara.
So there i was, trying to save my PANTS
while driving down a hill in Bangsar (i HAD to spill it at the part i’m going down the hill right!) At this point, my (often absent) rational side spoke out and went, “Really Joyce, save the car, or save the pants?”
I sorrowfully let the Coke seep into my pants while i concentrated on the road.
There was so much Coke it soaked into the middle of the seat,
right where i was sitting and into my underwear.
Told Ming what happened,
and when i mentioned all the places the Coke got to,
including that really private one,
he said, “Now that’s a real Happy Meal.”
I just burst out laughing at how he managed to turn something tragic into something dirty.
Luckily i could take everything off and borrow his clothes (which are girls’ clothes anyway )
while he put my Coke-tainted loves into the pail to soak.
I watched as he tilted two full caps of Dynamo with it. “Ming! Why are you putting so much!” “What? This is how much i always put! The more the better.” “You’re like a Chinese aunty…” (like in the adverts) “I am a Chinese aunty.”
After scoffing down my lunch,
i got him to SHAVE OFF all my sides again.
So much for trying to keep it long.
I got inspired by this picture of a really cute Japanese girl with a bouncy bob,
and tried to grow my hair out to a bob,
but i just can’t.
It’s too hot.
It gets in my way.
It sticks out when i don’t have time to blow it down.
It sticks out when i wake up.
It sticks out like Chicken Little after i wash it.
Shaving it is just going to make my life so much easier.
Clem loves it.
He’s always been trying to get me to keep my shaved sides,
cos it was like that when we met.
“You’re soo cute today! Just like the first day i met yoo!” “The first time you met me, you thought i was a lesbian, remember?”
“Yeah… but eet ees because you were kneeling in front of a girl when i first saw you.” “She was doing my make up for me!”
I was in Pavilion for an environmental event last Friday,
when i spotted life-size figures of superheroes and huge posters hung about.
The concourse area is selling Superhero T-shirts and other paraphernalia,
while this Superhero… is probably the reason why all the fanfare is going on:
The Green Lantern movie is about to debut this month!
Starring Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively (yum to both!)
The only Superhero i know thoroughly is Superman.
I’ve lost count of the number of Superman, Supergirl and Action comics i read over and over again when i was a kid.
They all belong to Daddy.
If you like comic heroes and villains, you know where to head before the exhibition is over!
Besides Pavilion, there has been a series of parties dedicated to superheroes and villains! So if you love comics and cocktails, you know this is what you’ve been missing out on.
Parties have already taken place at 7atenine and Library @ Avenue K,
with ONE LAST PARTY to wrap up the series!
[click for larger view]
It’s going to take place at twenty.one tables+terrace @ Bangsar on Wednesday 8th June 2011 from 9pm onwards
Theme: Heroes Vs. Villains (of course!)
You get to take funny pictures against a comic cover photowall,
accompanied by characters that will be walking about that night.
May not even need to bring your camera cos you can grab those pictures off Encore’s FB page after the event is over
Horeca’s international mixologists will be making their signature cocktails
called Captain Jack, Juggernaut, Lady Luck & Red Sonja. (Selling at only RM15 for the first 100)
They say guys might prefer Captain Jack,
whilst the ladies should go for Red Sonja.
I’m just going to try them ALL.
If you’re not ordering at the bar,
there will be costumed Heroes and Villains who will be serving you instead of the usual waiters!
Besides drinking, it’s always good to take advantage of activities at events…
At this one, you get to Create Your Cocktailunder the guidance of the professional mixologist!
All that happening while the in-house DJ is spinning some beats with costumed dancers,
it’s definitely going to be a PARTAY.
And i’m going to be there.
If you’d like drink vouchers, KinkyBlueFairy.Net is giving away 14x cocktail vouchers for the party!
Just be the first to email me you and your friends’ names.
Do title the email “Heroes Vs Villains” and send to joycethefairy@gmail.com. : : List is closed! Thanks everyone! : :
Note: Party is open to everyone.
