In 2010 Joe Chia graduated from Raffles Design Institute, and with the vision of seeing his designs being worn by people on the streets, his eponymous label – JOE CHIA RTW was launched in 2012.
Following the inception of the brand were collaborations with renowned international labels (like Chivas, Honda, Sony, Shu Eumura; UT Japan (UNIQLO), G-shock, Reebok) and numerous accolades collected like Best Menswear Designer (Newman magazine), Top 40 under 40 (Prestige magazine), and one of Asia’s most influential designers at the 2013 Mercedes Benz STYLO Asia Fashion Week.
JOE CHIA embodies classic, timeless and experimental pieces to be worn for years. Therefore, instead of following trends and the seasons, collections are launched in a sequence of chapters whereby each piece in every chapter narrates its own individual story.
CHAPTER06 FW15 – “RAISED BY WOLVES” is the evolutionary process of the human anatomy. It is the concept of resilience and adaptation, the mutation of particles to habituate to the requisites of its host.
CHAPTER06 embodies figure-moulded structures, highly accented in leather with distinctive finishings and washed out in a monochromatic palette.
The label’s clothing language is the celebration of the designer’s innate Malaysian heritage. It continues increasing its distinctive attention for details and functional qualities, whilst maintaining a strong connection to urban roots. Joe describes it as “The Silent Drama.”
