Longchamp AW13

I was invited for Longchamp‘s AW13 media preview at The Majestic weeeeeks ago (if you noticed my same outfit in a previous blogpost cos i jumped from one event to another like a jackrabbit)!

Sometimes i go for events not knowing how much inspiration or information i’ll glean from them as they all vary, but i had such a great time at the Longchamp one!

Beautiful venue,
great display and enthusiastic explanation of the products,
i was drawn hook line and sinker once i touched and carried the bags,
we had champagne in hand the whole time,
and i think most importantly – i met two kindred spirits whom i chatted to for hours about traveling, love and spirituality. The champagne must have sped up our bonding process too, no doubt.

With Mei Sze and May Sze. I know, their names are so similar! Makes it easy for me too XD

I know Longchamp for its cult canvas bag, but the preview i attended was to introduce us to a huge range under the brand that is expanding our arm candy choices to materials beyond practical canvas. Aps was telling me she wanted to get a leather bag for her birthday, and i immediately told her to check out Longchamp cos i spotted three designs i really liked on that day alone!

Perhaps my favourite is the ROSEAU BOX >>

It’s so shiny it glistens, and looks like you’re holding water!

Made of patent calfskin with a glossy finish, the Roseau Box is signed with the Longchamp racehorse in its familiar leather oval and clasps shut with its emblematic bamboo toggle with a bright nickel finish. It comes in sumptuous shades of dark Aubergine, warm Cumin, intriguing blue-green Cedar and rich Carmine; and is available in two sizes – the smaller of which has a shoulder strap.

This is one of the walls of Longchamp bags at the event. On the top left is the Le pliage Cuir, Longchamp’s famous Le Pliage bag in leather. I’ve close ups of these travel bags further down the post.

In the middle are Roseau Heritage tote bags, released to mark the Roseau’s 20th Anniversary. The bag’s timeless design will appeal to active and elegant women the world over, and looks sleek for any office wear. Best of all is that they’re crafted from the finest calf leather that will become more beautiful the longer it is used.

One of my personal top 3 favourites include the one above – the Longchamp 3D. It’s incredibly soft and i heart that it’s shiny too. I’m a sucker for shiny things.

The bag’s softness is due to it being made from the finest quality young bull hide with its unique natural grain and creases. Hence it feeling exquisitely soft and exceptionally supple.

It’s called the Longchamp 3D cos of the two vertical bands of leather that gradually stand upright on the side of the bag while being joined by a horizontal label discreetly embossed with the Longchamp signature (– which is great, i dislike branding shoved in everyone’s face to see). Notice the black nickel eyelets on the straps too, which accentuate its design.

Me carrying the Longchamp 3D duffel bag. It’s so great for traveling… and comes with long shoulder straps too.

Louise is one of my contributors to this blog.
Here she’s carrying the glistening Roseau Box i mentioned earlier. Werq it Louise!

Shiny shiny right!? It’s around RM3K

The Le Pliage® Cuir line has bags and shoes that i reckon traveler girls will love! I remember making it my mission to match shoes and bags in the exact same tones whenever i shop. Now one can cheat and get a set from Longchamp!

The one you see above is the new leather version of the emblematic Le Pliage® handbag. It’s more luxurious and modern and its amazingly soft and incredibly supple leather allows you to fold it as neatly as the legendary nylon canvas version. It can be carried two ways – with the tote handle or the over-the-shoulder strap, and there are four bag sizes to choose from. The ballet pumps are made of calfskin and come in matching colours to the Le Pliage bag range.

Here i am carrying the Le Pliage Exotic. Inspired by the Japanese art of Origami, the simple yet ingenious bag is manufactured in ultra-light nylon fabric and elegantly trimmed in Russian leather. I purposely chose this design to take pictures with cos i fancy the variations of textures it has, tho the line comes in a variety of shapes and sizes available in a dozen colors each season.

Above is the casual-chic Quadri that one can easily envision paired with skinny jeans + ankle boots, or an airy summer dress + jacket. The Quadri hones in on effortless style and doesn’t compromise function with fashion — practical features include inside pockets, strong handles, and removable shoulder straps that allow for on-trend cross-body ensembles.

There are different sizes that include a spacious shopper, a roomy hobo, and a little pochette for nights out. All of them are crafted from cowhide leather with a distinctive crisscross grain, and nickle-finish rivets for that tiny push towards a more rock ‘n’ roll spirit.

The Quadri comes in a choice of contemporary classic colours – from everyday staples such as Black, Clay and Ecru to vibrant Carmine and sophisticated Cedar.

Most of Longchamps bags come in one colour a bag, so this is the most maximalist pattern you can get from them – the Longchamp More is More collection. I loved touching this bag too… seriously, just go into the store and try touching all the bags to see how SOFT they are.

The Longchamp Gatsby Sport is a subtly restructured and spacious hobo bag with the authentic old-school charm of satchel-type cases.

If you’re a fan of python print, the Longchamp Python might well be your favourite. Longchamp’s iconic Le Pliage handbag in Python is a lightweight and spacious bag that is loved for its timeless design and ultra-functional, foldable body.

Longchamp’s Autumn RTW 2013 collection plays on the contrast of colours and textures. You can notice the series of two-tone silk jumpsuits above (in two-tone white + black, or black + khaki) teamed with high-heeled ankle boots for maximum leg-lengthening potential.

Focus is built on a long and lean silhouette with cigarette pants in supple lambskin or warm wool. Tops come in cute blousons, maybe with a fox fur collar, or cosy oversized cardigans in wool and mohair.

You can also look out for a coat of lamb fur, tweed and lambskin leather; sporty nylon blousons in fauve and feather prints; and one of Longchamp’s signature pieces – a collarless, zippered coat-dress in calf fur.
