My current basic skincare + makeup stuff

Comments (5) Spa + Beauty

I get a lot of emails asking me what foundation/moisturizer/etc i use, so i thought i’d simply state down the products i’m using right now and why i like them.

Clockwise from top:

(white jar) Benefit Total Moisture Moisturizerย – it’s a thick heavy cream promising long-term hydration which i apply at night. I may shift to something with repairing benefits for night once i’m done with this. I was using Estee Lauder’s Night Repair Serum, but Clem doesn’t like the smell and the last thing i want to do is make him back away from me -.-

(silver tube on top of box) Swiss Line CELL SHOCK Age Intelligence – This is one i really like. It’s an anti-aging serum that fights the actual cause of aging, medically known as chronic inflammation. I was telling Cammy how much i like it cos she uses Swiss Line too, and she told me an interesting story behind the product. The owner of Swiss Line was having a conversation with a plastic surgeon who brought up the topic of this particular ingredient that teaches the skin to recover. The plastic surgeon wondered why it hadn’t yet entered skincare products, as it’s used on patients after undergoing plastic surgery for their skin to regenerate faster. And the Swiss Line owner was like, “What IS this ingredient??” And that’s how Age Intelligence came to be, haha.

(pink liquid, bottle) Swiss Line WATERSHOCK Soothing Lotion – I use this as if it’s a toner (tho the line also has a purifying toner). It’s botanical, alcohol-free, counteracts fine lines and smells great. I love Swiss Line! You can buy it at Pure Energy spas but if you’re lazy to go there, you can buy it online too, they just launchedย www.shopswissline.com.

(little brown jar on left) Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Cream – i’ve had this for a couple of years… and am quite terrible at remembering to apply eye cream so i’m trying my best nowadays. I just asked Kanch what’s her favourite stuff for eyes and she said the Sisley eye mask works like magic. I trust her on this kinda thing. The girl is obsessed with eye lines.

(blue jar) Clarins HydraQuench Cream – I love the texture and smell of Clarins creams. I feel they’re really doing its job, plus it has SPF 15 so i use it only during the day, tho Cammy thinks i should apply higher SPF before any day cream (i’m too lazy. less steps the better).

Additional things i wanna say but no pix for it:
– I LOVE Rodial‘s Glam Balm. It’s also a brand that is famous for ‘lifting’ and looking like someone’s had plastic surgery but it’s all noninvasive. When i used their Glam Balm, i felt like my skin just went BOING and was more supple (i think that word is overused when talking about skincare but i’d use it for Rodial and Swiss Line).
– For facials, my absolute favourite is still at Estee Lauder. I felt like they thoroughly removed every single blackhead and my face felt so great after. Too bad they’re only in Pavilion which is kinda far for me to drive just for my face.

Next, makeup!

Clockwise from bottom middle (since i start with applying foundation)

(brown bottle) Chanel Vitalumiere Liquid Foundation – Ever since i bought this years ago to give it a go, i’ve never found another liquid foundation i love more. It’s smooth, easy to apply with fingers, magically covers up all my uneven skin tone, makes me look less hungover on those bad days, and i even use it as concealer under my eyes even tho i’m told i’m not supposed to. (I use the colour 50 Naturel and even have a fairer one for months i lose my tan!)

(compact) Chanel Eclat – I happened to get this because i wanted free makeup done for me before i went to an event last year. It’s not like i’m some Chanel make up freak. It’s really smooth tho, and i don’t mind continue using this. Previously, i used Laura Mercier. Loved the glimmery colours of that, but i found it hard to apply loose powder and i kept on getting it on people’s shoulders when i hugged them so that didn’t do it for me. Maybe i suck at loose powder or something. I’ve also tried Armani’s powder, which some make up artist told me is the best compact powder and i do love it. It’s just that i can only buy it at certain outlets and i… haven’t mustered the effort to go get it yet!

(bottom left) MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack – THE eyeliner i use. Lots of people say they love my eyeliner and how it seems to stay on all day… well this is what i use. You gotta use a good slant brush to apply it. Once i lost my first brush, got a cheap one from Sasa, and that really hurt my eyes while applying it! There IS a difference between some expensive and cheap brushes!

(grey pencil in middle) DIOR Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil – I was looking for a pencil eyeliner for days i’m too lazy to use my MAC Fluidline. I looked for years and never really found one. I’ve tried Chanel, etc. Then i saw Ee Von’s eyeliner was pretty hardy all day and asked her what she used. I got it, but i find it streaks on me slightly. Maybe i need to put in the extra effort to apply powder before it -.-

(brown pencil on top) Shu Uemura Eyebrow Pencil – I have eyebrow kits from other brands given to me… but i haven’t had the heart to stop using my beloved Shu pencil yet. Its tip is sharpened to a rectangular shape which makes for easy eyebrow drawing. You can’t sharpen it yourself (well you can if you’re really good) so i take it to any Shu counter every 3 months for them to do it for me. The pencil lasts me over 2 years despite using it EVERY day.

(pink square box) Benefit Sugarbomb Blush – I’ve used some cream blusher from Topshop and others, but i think i just found my favourite blush. It’s got a few shades of gold and rose so i get a sun kissed look like i just came from the beach. The brush makes it really easy to apply, and nothing spills.

(clear bottle on bottom right) Diptyque Philosykos – Oh you know how i adore Diptyque! I still use other performs like Marc Jacobs, Kenzo, Ralph Lauren, Dior, etc, when the mood hits; but if i had to choose ONE perfume to wear till the end of my days, it would be one from Diqtyque. I love Philosykos cos it reminds me of Europe and holidays and food.

OKAY! I hope you enjoyed this post! If you have any advice/tips for me on awesome skincare, or makeup for lazy people (speed is key for me. i get my face ready in 15 minutes every day) let me know!

P/S: Ugh i just thought of how i forgot to include lipsticks i love… ahhh maybe next time!!! Gotta run to an event now.

i really love clarins’s Multi-Active Night Youth Recovery Cream~ it’s lightweight and smells good. not sure about the youth recovery part but my skin is smooth the nxt morning~

i went to the chanel counter yesterday to look at Chanel Vitalumiere Liquid Foundation, but it’s a bit too dewy… does it last long??

kate: it’s dewy that’s why you gotta put loose/face powder (any brand is fine) on it – then it’ll last all day!
