This Godly Hour
 

It has wiltered

Yet its presence is still stubborn

Sitting in the corner of my neglected room

Catching my heart’s eye every time

I trip rush run doing my every day thing

Hope that it will spring bloom skip like it used to

But nevermind that

I hope you’re better

The Fairydoctor whispered that it would be

I didn’t know whether to believe her

Then the girl in the white nightie looked at me before she leaped

And her body twirled with momentum

Strings cut her deep

Everyone gasped

My heartbeat hovered like i knew it would

I couldn’t see any red blood gash pain

But you know how it is

You see it from so far…

Yet still feel the pain

Not physically

But emotionally scraping on your heart

Which might prove more torturous for some

The second girl still prepared to leap

Foolish thing! I called out with panic in my voice yet trying to maintain rational and calm

Which is why i’m still awake at this godly hour

Godly, for ‘tis the time

The common black bird in my backyard sings

The elderly neighbours practice tai chi
The auntie lights her joss sticks
Its welcoming smell reminding me of Penang
My mother drives off to work

No wait

She’s left already

And i’m still awake
