Pearly Wong caught our attention with her distinguished use of black hues and drapery style when she first presented her collection in 2012. The designer impressed us further away with her third outing this year – Pearly Wong Spring/Summer 2014. It is evident that the brand has matured from their signature street style to a more polished and structured look; yet persevering the androgynous and multifunctional aesthetics that the brand is known for.
Strong use of black in different textures, layering and drapes continued in Pearly’s SS14 collection, but this time with some silver and ivory implemented on different materials such as sheer fabric and leather. It was a fascination of the designer during her studies in New York, where women in Brooklyn often wore relaxed and oversized clothing as if a second skin. Hence the concept of this collection – an homage to that imagery but tweaked to fit the local market.
Crop tops experimented in different materials and textures made a strong presence in Pearly’s new collection.
Pearly Wong’s collection is available in Malaysia and Singapore.
You can also order it online via OffTheRack Asia.
There will be two different ranges of Pearly Wong’s collection. The regular collection (considered the higher-end version) will be priced at RM400 upwards; whereas the capsule collection begins at RM200 and above.
