I went for lunch with Melissa yesterday and she told me about her recent personal project with Ridduan. The both of them decided to collaborate on a series of photographs to present Melissa in a completely different light compared to her public image as a singer and songwriter, while photography + styling + art direction was executed by Ridduan alone.
The mdotxttfga photo series was shot in alleyways and little-known spots of KL in areas such as Masjid Jamek and Brickfields. Ridduan’s choice of styling is a fusion of local high fashion (Joe Chia, Zakwan Anuar and Silas Liew) and flea market finds (from thrift shops in Chow Kit).

Mdotxttfga is a collaboration between Melissa Indot and Ridduan Ismail aka ttfga (which cleverly stands for Tukang Tangkap Foto Gembira Anda).
Melissa Indot is no stranger to the local music scene. Having first captured our attention when her solo album “Eclecticism” was released, the album went on to win Best English Album at the 2008 AIM Awards (Anugerah Industri Musik). She’s back in full force with her brand new album “MDot”. Barely 4 months after the launch, Melissa has garnered nominations from VIMA (Voice International Music Awards) for 2014’s Best Malaysian Vocalist and Best Music Video. Having released her lead single ‘You & Me’, the track has made its way onto our local airwaves, with remixes by Mike Jolly and H3.
Ridduan hails from the quiet land of Kelantan and has been gradually making his mark in our capital city in the past year. A self-taught photographer, Ridduan initially came into prominence by organizing shoots ala the creative collective Art Comes First, which he calls “Style Sunday Photo Shoot”. These photo shoots are shot on the streets, with an invitation extended to various individuals from different fields. Initially done for fun, the product of these collaborations have been picked up and featured in local fashion and lifestyle magazines.
