I’m giving away 3x GIVENCHY Dahlia Noir perfumes!

Comments (2) Spa + Beauty

I couldn’t make it to the event (too many going on!), but the PR for Givenchy perfumes very kindly sent me a personalized bottle of their latest Dahlia Noir EDT… and three more to give away via my blog! I love giving stuff away on my blog nowadays (depending what it is!). Makes me feel like Santa Claus the whole year round.

It’s got a sexy smoky scent that makes me think of Christmas… i thought i was imagining it till i googled some reviews and read how lots of people think the same too – except they more specifically said fir trees.

Dahlia Noir is the first fragrance created after the imagination of Riccardo Tisci, Givenchy’s Creative Director since 2005. His vision captures a flower that does not exist, one that is rare and develops downy petals in a nearly black shade of red.

“There is nothing antithetical in this tension between light and shadow,
between danger and delicacy,
the sacred and the profane.

Here it takes on a mesmerizing olfactory identity,
intense and powdery,
floral and woody.
Dahlia Noir fans the flames of desire.

Like Riccardo Tisci’s couture creations, Dahlia Noir resonates with a fragile strength, a confluence of opposing forces, to better express the tough softness of the woman who wears it.

A couture fragrance all in pure lines, a neo-classic whose extreme sensuality arises from a surprising twist of the imagination, a return to supreme luxury. The quintessence of the Givenchy style.”

Dahlia Noir Eau de Parfum was released last year and is composed by François Demachy, based on Riccardo Tisci’s creative direction.

“This floral chypre fragrance is based on rose, iris and mimosa, enriched with utterly contemporary woody facets. Sandalwood and patchouli lend a woody depth to the caressing volatility of the powdery weft, blended with tonka bean.”

Dahlia Noir Eau de Toilette is the latest fragrance from Givenchy that is just launched this year.

Also composed by François Demachy, the Eau de Toilette expresses a more luminous, fruitier vision of the Eau de Parfum.

The Eau de Toilette’s trail instantly releases zesty notes of mandarin, lemon and peach. While the Dahlia Noir EDP evokes a powdery seduction, the Eau de Toilette speaks of rose petal, woody accents and spicy pink pepper. Carnal amber, sweet vanilla and sandalwood enshroud the composition.

I have the Dahlia Noir EDT and Dahlia Noir EDP (50ML) to give away. Each is worth RM267-RM333.

I’m using Versace’s perfume. It’s my first perfume I’ve ever bought using the money I’ve earned being as a part time waitress. I was very hesitant in buying that perfume because it isn’t cheap. But I figured that I will be starting my college a couple of months time. So I’d reward myself for that. I happily purchased the perfume and have used it ever since. It’s pretty long lasting I would say, and I only use it on special events because I’m afraid that it will run out if I use it everyday.

I only save it for a date or when I’m feeling pretty. It makes me feel complete spraying it. No doubt that I smell nice with it, it also makes me feel feminine. I’d say that every girl should have a bottle of perfume, it’s almost a symbol for femininity. Perfume is also an important symbol as it is subtle and over looked but has enormous effects; it acts as a mask of perfection. My name is Sook Li. Nice to meet you Joyce, I’ve seen you in real person in the ChurpChurp event in Publika. 🙂

Born in a family of teachers (and falling into similar shoes myself), i had a really creative upbringing. For starters, my siblings and i were not given pocket money but had to earn them through house chores;and since 12, we were encouraged to do part time jobs during the school holidays for the experience, and also the cash lol. My parents always taught us not only to appreciate the value of money, but also it’s more blessed to give than to receive. So when i went on my first school trip to kl..

i was 12 and very impressed by the beautifully lighted malls. I remembered walking into Body Shop, and stood there for the longest time, staring at their fragrance selection in awe, and also very confused lol. The salesgirl promptly came to serve me and with her help, i bought two of those lil bottles for my mum and dad, with the pay of selling vege in the market for 3 weeks.
I was damn proud of my ‘great selfless purchase’ but turned out my mum was allergic to that fragrance. But till now… there it stood, on her lil shelf of fame – the first gift, her daughter got her using her own money.

Perfumes have been in my life for as long as I could remember. My mom loved perfumes, and as I child, I used to watch her with fascination as she went about with her daily routine of makeup, putting on her jewellery and finally selecting one of her many bottles of perfume to spritz on herself as a finishing touch: Chanel No. 5, Dior’s J’Adore, Poison and Dune, Escada, Lancome Tresor and the ever-pleasing Pure White Linen by Estee Lauder, just to name a few.

I think what fascinated me most were the the myriad assortment of bottles she had, some tall, some short, but all glittering in that chandelier-cut styles. To a child, they were MAGIC. I could never tell how she knew to choose which perfume to use for the day, because to a child’s nose they all smelt the same. And sometimes, if she catches me watching her, she would ask if i’d like ‘some’ too and my eyes would light up as she spritzed it on my wrist and told me to rub them together.

I think it is this ‘education’ from her that has instilled in me my appreciation for scents and perfumes. The Dahlia Noir EDP would be a perfect addition to her collection (much to my mother’s dismay, my nose tends to go for the lighter and fruitier scents as compared to her stronger, more seductive and heady choices).

I would love to win the Dahlia Noir EDP! <3

The description of it just sweeps me off my feet. I love all the notes in this perfume.

My first perfume that I ever bought for myself was the Davidoff Cool Water. I saved up since I was in highschool bit by bit then when I finally got it.

    The feeling was magnificent.

It is the sense of accomplishment that I bought myself my first own perfume makes the world a better place.

    Hey Joyce,
My story about perfume is not specifically about my own perfume though. Since I was very young, my memory of the smell of my mother was Chanel No.5 since that is the only perfume my mother ever wears. Now that I am not around her most of the time, I bought a Chanel No.5 not to use it on myself, but to smell it whenever I miss her.

If I do win, I would love the EDT version.
    Thank you!!!
