Tell us about your MV and your team.

My MV was produced by Yuri and shot and made by the boys (Gavin Gooi, Nick Davis) at The Factory Music Studio (http://www.thefactory.com.my/). My awesome boys! They did such a wonderful job. Made it special. Made it unique. I love every bit about it. I wanted something unique which involves different skills, craft and technique. It also gave the boys a great big creative playground to work in. We had heaps of fun creating this whole new paper fantasy world.

The video is also special because it is Malaysia’s first live action paper-craft music video. Everything was prepared and made by hand and without any visual effects.
As for the ‘Stars’ in the video, you would be pleasantly surprised to see quite a few familiar ‘faces’.

‘I’m Sorry’ will be premiering on my YouTube channel http://www.youtube.com/ChelsiaNgMusic on Saturday June 30, 2012.
I will also be making it available on the newly launched iTunes Malaysia!

What inspired you to write this song?

This song is for anyone who has ever been wronged. For anyone who has ever been laughed at because of their own beliefs. For all who have been victims of snap judgements. This one’s for you 🙂

I wrote this song after feeling very upset and disappointed in myself for telling someone off for being rude, mean and judgmental. And so the first line goes… “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to be rude to you but you shouldn’t have said those things you did…”
I am calling it the ‘unapologetic ‘sorry’ song’.

You’d have to listen to the song to know what I mean. I don’t wanna give to much away 🙂

How did you put the song together?

After completing the song, I brought it over to my awesome producer/friend Yuri Wong (Multi award winning music producer and founder of The Factory Music Studio) to work his magic. I knew exactly how I wanted the song to be like but found it hard to put my thoughts out in words. Like telepathy, Yuri got it right away and produced an even better piece than I could have ever imagined.
I wanted live sounds so we got in everyone’s favorite Trumpeter, Eddie Wen (Eddie has toured with Taiwanese legends such as Jonathan Lee and is one of Malaysia’s most sought after trumpeters) to come in and add some awesome horns to the song.
The end result is a carnival of a song and I am absolutely in love with it. I hope my fans will lave it as much as we do.

Who is producing and are you signed to a label?

I am doing this all by myself with the help of a lot of faith from my family and close friends. I am very grateful and thankful to all of them.
Deciding to embark on this journey without being backed by a label was (and still is) a little scary because I didn’t know the first thing about producing a single. I told myself to take everything one tiny step at a time. To worry about step 1 before I even begin to worry about step 2. That motto has proven to be successful so far!

Where do you plan to go from here?

An album is definitely in the pipeline! I am looking forward to sharing more of my music with everyone. I am writing whenever I can. Whenever I have time off shooting. It has become sorta like a journey of self discovery. I am learning more and more about myself through writing.

What other projects are you currently working on?

I just finished shoot on a 13 episode SITCOM which will be spearheading the all new FriedChillies Food Network on Unify TV this August. ‘I Eat KL’ tells the story of 3 girlfriends and revolves mainly around food and their adventures in KL. The series stars Nadia Aquila, Dawn Cheong and myself as the 3 girls and Tony Eusoff, Bront Palarae and Gavin Yap to name a few.

I will also be starting shoot on another SITCOM this July which will air on NTV7.

Will we be seeing you on the big screen again anytime soon?

Yes! The sequel to Afdlin Shauki’s award winning film, ‘Papadom’. ‘Papadom 2’ will be in cinemas nationwide end of this year. It is a real honor to be given another opportunity to work with Tayangan

Unggul, Afdlin and his wonderful crew. I am so looking forward to the movie next year! We had awesome fun filming it and I am sure fans will enjoy it immensely!
