Being Politically Correct
I woke up this morning cos of some phone calls and couldn’t go back to sleep after.
If i could choose, i would’ve slept till later cos i really need the rest, but i guess 8 hours is plenty compared to my usual 5/6 hours.
Suddenly thought about something this girl said to me at Puss In Boots @ Attic a few nights ago
“Are you Malay?”
“No… my name is Joyce.”
“Oh! I thought you are Malay! How come you’re hanging out with only Malay girls…”
I looked around my group, not even realising that everyone there was Malay. For the plain fact that it wasn’t even an issue.
“… 0_- … What’s wrong with that?”
“Nothing, nothing! Just don’t usually see a Chinese girl with only Malay girls.”
“…
…”
I told MadcapperSa what she said.
Sa: Isn’t she being… politically incorrect?
Then middle of this week, this girl commented i look awfully young
“You look like you’re 21!”
“I guess it’s my baby face,” i smile
“No… not only that, it’s your baby fat on your face as well!”
“…. 0_o…..”
Not that i’m the most tactful as well though.
I said something socially abominable to someone a few months ago.
Told a few friends about me putting my foot in my mouth.
“You said what??! You said that!?”
“Yup *hangs head in shame* “
“You didn’t!”
“I did… *cringe* “
“What did she do?”
“She… was very gracious… just had a frozen smile on her face… i tried to cover up after that la…”
“How to cover up.”
“Kinda tak jadi la…”
“Fail la you.”
Hmm yeah. So sometimes when people say tactless things to me, i just remind myself of that time i said that baddddd thing. And realise that sometimes, people say things that are offensive but they mean no harm.
Unless they do it multiple times then confirm fuck off la.
