I’ve been needing new glasses for awhile now cos my last pair has been with me for… 5 years perhaps? And since then i’ve got a bit of astigmatism and my power isn’t the same anymore. One side of the Balenciaga logo has also dropped off and got lost somewhere so it does look a bit… tatty.
Oh okayyyy, and also Clem hates my spectacles and thinks i would look better with a sexy schoolteacher pair -_- So he was pressuring me to go get a new pair too. (I still love how my old glasses look! I don’t care what you say!)
After making a new pair, i grudgingly admit that it IS a lot better than my old ones…. not because of the style (tho i like this a lot too) but BECAUSE of the lenses itself – a very special type of lens called Transitions® Adaptive lenses.
Nice or not? Nice or not?
Transitions® Adaptive lenses are so special cos they darken when i’m out in the sunshine! When the lenses are exposed to UV rays, the lenses become darker; but the lenses fade back to clear when i’m in the shade or a room again. How cool is that!? The greater the intensity of the UV rays, the darker the lenses become!
That way i’m so much more comfortable without having glaring light when i’m outdoors, and the lenses’ ability to adapt to changing light ensures they’re always the exact shade i need them to be so i can SEE AS BEST I CAN. An extra point is that the lenses also block 100% of UVA & UVB rays.
I got my pair at Optical 88 in KLCC a couple of weeks ago >
Because i wore my contact lenses out in the day, i had to remove them and rest my eyes for 15-20 minutes before they could check my eyesight.
So what did i do… try on new prospects of course!
Can you see how i was trying to be the good girlfriend and get the style Clem wants -_- Since he’s gonna be the one looking at my face most of the time at home, i thought i might as well entertain his preference.
Check #1 – using the electronic machine

Check #2 – using another machine where the staff slipped in the glasses manually
Check #3 – last manual adjustments to get it exactly right
My final results after 3 tests!
I found out that these Transitions® Adaptive lenses are named after Transitions Optical who invented it!
Transitions® lenses came to be after the optical company worked with multiple lab and lens manufacturing partners, and made Transitions Optical’s exclusive photochromic technology an integral part of the lens. This patented photochromic dyes is what enables the lenses to rapidly activate/darken in the presence of UV rays.
Today, Transitions Optical offers the most advanced adaptive technology in the widest selection of lens designs, materials and brand names; so that everyone can enhance their vision and enrich the way they see and live!
Knowing i am using the best lenses in the market makes me feel a lot better while wearing them, and i don’t have to chide myself for not being able to read signs that are far away or even the subtitles on TV now (astigmatism does that to you).

omg!!!my grandma glasses without transition lenses cost me more than rm1200k!!! in ipoh somemore!!! now i feel ripped off, sigh. wish i got my glasses in klcc now! u look great by the way joyce!!! transition’s the best, but it’s so costly in ipoh. my sis’s been wearing them forever!!!
I love the fact that it is sort of 2 in 1. Reading glasses that literally transitions into a pair of sunglasses when exposed under the sun. This way I don’t have to carry an extra case because I don’t wear contact lens often so I usually carry 2 cases. each one for my spectacles and sunnies. I can save space for other neccessities! 😀
Will definitely be handy for hubby who uses contact lenses and glasses and also at a stage where he needs bifocals.
U can imagine the inconvenience when he goes anywhere and especially on holidays with an additional pair of sunnies as well.
With transition lenses it will make work and play more fun since it literally turns into a protective lens from UVb and UVA rays. These will also be plus as he works in front of the computer most times.
Amagaddddd! It’s like fate brought me here to come read your awesome blog this early in the morning. Just like you I’ve had my RayBan prescription glasses for so long the logo has brass torn off, on both sides! I’m also using the Transition prescription glasses for the RayBan and I’m utterly satisfied and would love to continue doing so as I need to change into a new prescription glasses very soon. Been wearing the RayBan Transition prescription glasses for as long as I can remember ;_;
So this chance would be great for me to continue on my love for Transition glasses. Btw you look great in that choice of frames Joyce!
