I’ve been using credit cards since i was in college, with a sub one that was given to me by my dad. As it happens with some people (aka girls with shopping), i would overspend with my card and learnt my lesson and haven’t been doing it since! I know some friends who are still against credit cards, but i’m ALL FOR THEM NOW.
It’s so much safer than bringing wads of cash around all the time,
i don’t need to go to the bank as often,
i can easily pay for purchases and bills online,
i don’t need to change so much money when i go to a different country,
and i use it to pay for almost everything… supermarket bills, petrol, flights, everything!
The additional few things that make spending with a credit card all the better — are the discounts at restaurants, cashback promotions and flying miles they have. It makes sense that you might as well save more with all the spending you’re already doing!
Now, Standard Chartered has launched a new payments card called WorldMiles that is dedicated for those who LOVE TRAVELING.
Like ME!
By collaborating with the region’s best airlines,
this new card will allow Malaysians to travel more frequently by redeeming flight tickets,
Not to mention, we’re the first of 68 countries that Standard Chartered has launched this card in!
So here’s the deal,
every time you use your Standard Chartered WorldMiles to pay for something,
you accumulate air-miles from three leading partner airlines – Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines and AirAsia.
Every RM3 spend on the WorldMiles Card earns you 1x WorldMiles point which can be redeemed for 1x Enrich Mile or KrisFlyer or 1x AirAsia Big Point. When you swipe your card overseas, it’s even better, cos every RM2 you spend is 1x point.
Your rewarding journey with WorldMiles takes flight the moment you sign up as every new customer will receive 40,000 AirAsia BIG Points which is redeemable for round-trip tickets to Hong Kong, Phuket, Bangkok, Bali and many more destinations.
Besides getting WorldMiles points every time you pay for something, you also end up paying less for things cos the WorldMiles Card gives you access to exclusive discounts and privileges from AsiaTravel.com and Hertz.
To see how much you need to spend to get to your dream destinations, you can use the WorldMiles Calculator that’s provided.
I played around with the WorldMiles Calculator and chose a ticket to Africa (cos it’s the furthest away and someplace i’d like to go to one day!) and saw that i’d need to spend a total of RM75,000 on my credit card. Which is not bad, cos that’s what i spend on my credit card in less than a year anyway. A redeemed flight ticket to my dream destination? Why not!?
Looks like i’m going to be changing my main credit card to use ONLY THIS ONE now.
