I’m one of those girls who don’t seem to have enough swimsuits and bikinis.
I have brand new ones, and vintage ones.
Lots of bikinis, and a handful of one-piece swimsuits.
Fluorescent ones that blind you, to modest toned down shades.
Triangle cuts, to plunging necklines.
There are some that are so complicated to put on that i need Clem’s help sometimes.
Yet, why is it never enough?
Never enough colours! Never enough patterns!
Swimsuits are a fashion statement.
They’re just an extension of my wardrobe, as are collections of stockings, scarves, hats, shoes and so forth. I even have specific head accessories and necklaces to pair with certain swimsuits, tho i haven’t actually ventured out in all of them yet… they’re combinations i make up for fun and feel good knowing exists in my wardrobe despite my lack of courage to prance around in public in them!
Ten years ago, all my bikinis were from either Roxy, Topshop, or Thailand.
Choices were limited.
Now, at least we’ve got some local businesses selling Brazilian swimwear of various brands.
I own quite a number myself, they’re of excellent quality and cut, and I can see why there’s a fuss over these bikinis that are from the other side of the world.
One of the newer beachwear distributors that have popped up in KL is Beija Beachwear. Having just been established this year, Beija Beachwear currently imports fine swimwear from Rio de Sol (Brazil), Maaji (Colombia), Saha (Colombia) and Larissa Minatto (Brazil). The company aims to provide uniquely beautiful quality swimwear from around the world to women of all shapes and ages. BTW, ‘beija’ is a common Portuguese word and it is widely used when one says kiss in Brazil, how cute is that.
