I’ve had a strange on and off relationship with chocolate.
My teenage years saw me scoffing chocolate
of every kind
at every opportunity.
Easter in UK was the best.
I’d collect all my chocolate presents together,
and greedily go through them alone in a matter of days.
Never before did i single-handedly consume
a life-sized chocolate bunny rabbit
a life-sized chocolate chicken sitting on a chocolate nest filled with chocolate eggs
countless chocolate bars and fingers.
All while curled up with a book.
Licking at chocolates + reading = glorious!
Maybe it was the OD-ing on chocolate that did me in.
For about 8 years after that,
i barely touched chocolate
and certainly didn’t buy any.
I don’t know what happened.
I just didn’t feel like eating chocolate anymore
(though i was certainly eating a lot of everything else!)
Just last year i started buying chocolate again
and indulging in desserts and sweets.
I just think it was a tastebud transition.
But i sure know how to go from one deep end to the other.
From not touching any desserts,
there i was craving tiramisu and eating it in bed
in the middle of the night no less
with the man shaking his head next to me.
And because i’ve suddenly reignited my love with sweets,
i immediately said YES when Valiram sent me an invite to their Godiva cafe in Pavilion.
Created in 1926 in Brussels,
Godiva (pronounced ‘goh-die-vah’) is also the official supplier
to the Royal Court of Belgium.
Now that’s saying something.
Their Chocolatier Cafe is on Level 2 in Pavilion,
and the only Godiva cafe in South East Asia.
Nothing like being spoilt with canapes, macaroons, chocs and tea for breakfast!
Yazeed (Brand Manager of Godiva) took us through Godiva’s history,
and did a small tour of the cafe.
While he was talking, i found myself standing next to trays of chocolate biscuits…
I felt like a school kid.
I couldn’t concentrate on what he was saying.
Kept on glancing at the biscuits and wondering how they’d taste.
And imagined my hand slowly creeping towards it.
Crazy choc thoughts.
Pictures speak louder than words.
Tasting speaks more than both.
Most of the cakes cost from RM15-18 per piece
True Love Heart Box 11 pcs + Moet Chandon Rose Imperial RM515
Then came the exciting part!
Godiva divided all members of the media into teams
for a friendly decorating contest!
I WAS SO EXCITED.
Two happy things – art and food!
The Godiva team demonstrated a few techniques on how they manipulated the flavoured sauces with spoon edges.
And i thought, “Woohoo i can’t wait to try!”
I was teamed with Aida from Glam,
and Nicola from Harper’s BAZAAR.
(Forgot to take pictures with them -_-
cos hands were busy wrapped in plastic gloves)
Each team got marmalade, strawberry and chocolate sauces,
crushed nuts, choc pieces and strawberries.
We were to carefully ladle the pieces of cakes to respective empty plates,
and decorate the plates.
Team with best overall design, cleanliness and creativity would win.
Aida said we could write where we’re from so we did,
with the exception of Nicola.
I don’t blame her tho, writing “Harper’s Bazaar” with sauce is pretty long!
I couldn’t help thinking the deco above ended up looking like balls.
Nicola said, “Oh they look like orchids!”
And in my head was just, “Balls balls balls…”
But i didn’t say it to her cos we’d just met :p
Our team won!ย
Thanks Godiva!
I had so much fun playing with the decorating,
and now i’ve got lots of chocs to scoff on in front of the TVย
I was on a major chocolate high after that event…
and was talking superfast and giggly for a good few hours.
0_o
So easy to make me high.

OMIgosh, I love chocolate but I have never really experienced “I just don’t wanna eat anymore” feeling.
I would have oogled at the choco biscuits like you too when it is just right in front of my eyes.
Haha, but seriously it don’t look like balls and unlike Orchid. I wonder why she would say so haha!
