Taking For Granted
Bla bla bla
Why am i blogging at this hour?
I’m blogging because i REFUSE to go into a certain somewhere at the moment
I don’t know la
I’m just so frustrated and herguhghghhhhh
I’m tired
Had to take pictures for some event tonight
Where the lounge singers were wearing such tigh pants
It was Camel Toe Heaven
“I can’t believe you know what camel toe is.”
“What are you talking about?? Everyone knows what camel toe is!”
“Most girls don’t.”
“Please la. They do okay.”
So,
I was trying not to stare at their camel toes while sipping on beer, wine and whiskey
Yet,
I don’t look down on lounge singers like i know some girls do
On the contrary
I respect them
It’s not easy doing what they do
Do you think they WANT to wear skanky clothes and sing?
No, i don’t think so.
I think they sing because they have no choice, or they can’t get better paying jobs
Out of curiosity i asked the PR manager how much they earn
“14 to 16 k a month… for the whole group,” said she
So let’s see, between the four of them in a band, each of them gets approximately 4 k a month
Okay wut.
Considering they don’t have a degree or a better way out
One of the girls looked awfully awkward and nervous
And i felt so sorry for her
I feel really annoyed that some people just CANNOT see that
Other people have particular professions because of their fate
Some of us are different
We have parents who pay for our higher education
We are so lucky as to so much as go overseas
We mix with a set of friends who all have the same benefits that we don’t see it as benefits, but more as things we EXPECT to have
What if
We didn’t come from middle-class to above-average parentage?
We came from the outskirts/villages of Malaysia?
We wouldn’t even dream of working in another city?
Then you wouldn’t have learnt your Ps and Qs that strung along manners and social skills
You wouldn’t have known how to converse with other people to get ahead in life
You wouldn’t have the opportunity to choose your passion as your job
You wouldn’t be sitting in your nice home right now.
You wouldn’t have internet
You wouldn’t be able to read this blog
You might very well have been that lounge singer that i just listened to.
ppl who dono wat camel toe is should go watch “the weatherman” starring nicholas cage.

Yeah, I often wonder the same thing a lot. Especially so with worldly taxi drivers who wanted to become hair metal drummers but didn’t have supportive parents etc.

Such are the injustices of the world. Makes you want to donate doesn’t it? Unfortunately I have nothing but the shirt on my back and my bodily fluids to give. Better than nothing I figure.

I disagree.
Many of the greatest people in history (and current) refused to sit back and take the easy way out. They refused their “fate” and fought against their disadvantage, may it be the lack of education, location or opportunities. The fought it and came out victor.
So yes, I do look down on these people. For the simple fact that they have so much potential to do greater things but refuse to because it’s a relatively high paying job for little effort. If they really don’t want to wear skanky clothes and sing, get a new job. Simple as that. If you’ve got the ability to speak, let alone walk and lift, there are a thousand more opportunities out there.
Of course there ARE lounge singers who enjoy being lounge singers, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. They are simply being entertainers, but to say that they became lounge singers because there was nothing better out there is pathetic.
Fate is a lazy man’s excuse to life.

sorry, I meant fate is a lazy man’s excuse to failure.

Dear Loowee,
Okay, i know where you’re coming from which i wouldn’t disagree on. What i’m trying to say is, for those who have the benefit of having greater things, they don’t do much to think out of the box that there is more out there. Everything is taken in stride.
I can think of people who are in brilliant positions in life now due to their fortune of being born to the right people/place/time.
“So yes, I do look down on these people. For the simple fact that they have so much potential to do greater things but refuse to because it’s a relatively high paying job for little effort.”
What about the understanding that *some* people just CANNOT get out of the rut because they don’t know how to and they’re just blinded? Whereas if they were brought up in a different atmosphere, they would be molded and taught to view things differently.

Great post. I totally agree! An extension of that is when people look down on hostesses in bars or look down on prostitutes/sex slaves as if it’s their fault, or worse when people think it’s all okay to keep promoting that kind of culture. The whole attitude that “It’s okay what – they get paid to do their job. It’s okay what – they choose to do that” is not okay considering how few girls do choose that and how MANY girls don’t, or given the choice would be doing something else.

You missed the point of the entire argument.
The problem of what you wrote is that the lounge girls disliked their place in life. It is not the profession I look down upon, it’s the fact that they don’t try hard enough to get out of their fix.
The same goes for strippers, beggers and even prostitutes. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with their professions IF they chose it. The fact that you said that you “respect lounge singers” is saying that you believe that lounge singing is a lower profession and is degrading.
Like I said earlier, if you don’t like the job, get a new one. The only problem I can see are the people who are forced into the profession, such as child prostitution and slavery, but that’s an entire different ballgame. The fact is, you always have a choice.
