I was hopping up Telawi Street
Just having had a SundayScrabbleSession in La Bodega

Having gone to Poppy the night before, he lamented
“Yesterday was like International Ugly Day man… it’s like all the ugly
people were allowed to go out and club.”
“Fuck man, i can’t believe i have friends like you.”
“What?” *konon innocent face*
“Oh well. At least having friends like you give me substance for my blog!”

BenHoTheHo was there as well

He peeped at the pages of the fashion mag i was flipping through
Maybe he was trying to practice spotting out real girls from fake ones

As i paused on an Hermes  ad, he spoke up (as he always does)

“HeY, what’s thaT?”
“What??”
He shifted his head to the side slightly to face it right-side-up
“Ohhh Hermes! I thought it said Herpes! Was thinking what kind of brand is that!!?”

Me:

Now everytime i walk past Hermes i think of Herpes instead
Bloody hell

Spreading the Fairy Love

I brought this book  that Andrew gave me for my birthday
For CareBearJoanne  to read
Was telling PassedOutBen about it happily

“I brought my colleague a fairy book to read! And you know whAT, another colleague here has a fairy figurine on her desk too, like me!”
“I swear you are trying to start some secret cult.”
*ignores* “Then there’ll be fairy lovers everywhere!”
“And i’ll hunt them down and kill them aLL!”

World Rainforest Musicfest 2005

Friday

I touched down in Kuching at FREAKING TWO AM
Stupid flight got delayed by an hour

Poor ShalMalibu and SweetSarah were dying by then
From henceforth, all SuperMalibuFans shall be *name*Malibu
I slept over their place

I had stayed there before for a week when Shal launched her first album end of last year
It’s a creepy old house …at times
At times like 2 am, definitely creepy

We walked up the stairs into the hallway
The thing about the hallway is that it’s not *just* dark
It’s mighty shadowy and i get an eerie feeling there as well
Like there’s always something above or behind me
Not good, not good

There was a single bed there

“Oh hope you don’t mind, you’ll be sleeping here tonight,” said Shal
“Oh okay, sure!” i replied chirpily
Ohmygod this is sooo creepy wahhhh crycrycry

Then she continued walking up the hallway and i trotted behind
She turned around and grinned
“I’m kidding!”
“PhEW… fuck damn scary la sob sob”
“Did you reaLLY think i’d let you sleep heRE?!”
“How i know…”
“My mom suggested telling you that! She said ‘oh Joyce will probably say okay la la la”

Damn jahat
But her mom is supersuperdupernice
I remember she always gave us three, hugs before we went to bed last year

The next morning they took me to eat kueh chap before i left for the festival

Perhaps that’s why we bond so well

AndyKho and JoyceSuperKumQuat picked me up together with Andrea & Georgette from Borneo Post 
Driving from Kuching to Santubong takes about half an hour

There was a massive balloon at the entrance

Andy introduced me to his friends from kl, JollyAlan and FionaMalibu
We hit it off straight away due to our love for alcohol
We chatted and chatted and chatted
And ohmygod it’s a small world after all
They were actually supposed to join Adam & i at Penang  cos they know the whole group that was there too!
La la la happy happy

So we sat there and continued tani-ing till late
  

Do you know how much the beer there costs?

HOLY COW.

The sun was setting and i was testing out my flash in the evening light

Throughout the whole day there are a variety of workshops for you to choose from
All educating the crowd about random world culture like

Square dance music and early American songs
Native village stories from S’wak
Thai dance movements
History and culture of Mongolian music, instruments and songs
Gypsy dancing

You get my gist, things like that

Definitely not everyone’s cup of tea (especially KennySia)
But most definitely mine

The first one i went for was 

Heartbeat of Africa

The dance percussionists are called Yelemba D’abidjan from Ivory Coast
Throughout the weekend they performed traditional songs and dances based from tribes of the Senoufo, Guere, Yacouba, and Mandingue
(those who guessed i’m copying all this from the guidebook put your hands up)

They were very muskular ooh yes they were
I thought this one *points up* could look like some guy from B2K
So hot… *tries not to pant*

They were so so energetic and jolly the entire time
The tempo was lively and it was difficult not to grin and move along to the beat
Rarely do i see such heights in energy and bloody hell is it contagious!

I bumped into Nisha there among a whole load of random people
But i like Nisha so i took a pic with her 🙂

Nisha damn smart
I was telling her i took this before picture while they were setting up for the first night’s concert
And she replied
“I bet there was no ‘after’ right?”
“Urm heh yea…”
“Tipsy right!”
“Urm heh…”

It just… slipped my mind, that’s all

The first night…

I went to look for Justin most of the time

Such difficult decisions to make… tsk tsk

Rina is absolutely tiny
So Henry is not that… tall either

Yeah, i had a crush on Justin when i was aged 9-12
Longest crush ever and i never spoke to him

And by the time i do a decade later
It’s alllll gone

Tsk such bad timing haha
